Tyler Perry is sharing some sweet words about his close, longtime friend Cicely Tyson.

 

The entertainment mogul wrote a heartfelt tribute to Tyson on Thursday night after learning she had died at the age of 96.

“I have managed Miss Tyson’s career for over 40 years, and each year was a privilege and blessing,” her manager, Larry Thompson, said in a statement. “Cicely thought of her new memoir as a Christmas tree decorated with all the ornaments of her personal and professional life. Today she placed the last ornament, a Star, on top of the tree.”

(RNS) — Chadwick Boseman, who was most known for playing the superhero in the title role of “Black Panther,” was a person of faith from childhood who shared biblical wisdom along the path of his career.

The actor, who also portrayed baseball great Jackie Robinson, civil rights lawyer Thurgood Marshall, and singer/dancer James Brown, died at age 43 on Friday (Aug. 28), after being diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Actor Chadwick Boseman, who played Black icons Jackie Robinson and James Brown before finding fame as the regal Black Panther in the Marvel cinematic universe, died Friday of cancer, his representative said. He was 43.

Boseman died at his home in the Los Angeles area with his wife and family by his side, his publicist Nicki Fioravante told The Associated Press.

Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer four years ago, his family said in a statement.

“Empire” star Jussie Smollett was charged Wednesday night with lying to cops when he claimed to be the victim of a racist and homophobic attack — and authorities want him to surrender, police said.

Chicago PD spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said Smollett was charged with filing a false police report, a felony, after the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the criminal complaint. Cops were seeking to have Smollett turn himself in as soon as possible, Gugliemi said.

A production assistant for the series “Power” was killed after an on set accident.

Deadline reports that Pedro Jimenez was stuck by an SUV at 4:30 a.m. on Monday (Dec. 10). He was placing parking cones on a Brooklyn street at the time.


As of now, the details surrounding the tragic accident haven’t been released, and Jimenez’s family was quickly notified after he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
