Something happened during the NFL’s season opener between the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers.

“We were listening to the Patriots’ radio broadcast for the majority of the first half through our headsets,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin told reporters follow a 28-21 loss.  “We will let the league officials handle it.”

Tim Tebow Cut from Eagles’ Team

The Eagles have released Tim Tebow, ending the former Heisman Trophy winner’s bid to win the No. 3 quarterback job for Chip Kelly in Philadelphia.

Tebow was one of 22 players released Saturday by the Eagles, who also cut veteran offensive lineman John Moffitt and rookie running back Raheem Mostert.

All NFL teams must reduce their rosters to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Saturday, but Tebow appeared to be in contention for a roster spot after Philadelphia traded Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardin

The Redskins are planning on starting Kirk Cousins at quarterback in their regular-season opener against the Dolphins, sources told ESPN’s Dianna Russini.

The NFL confirmed Wednesday that it is reviewing the incident between former New York Jets player IK Enemkpali and quarterback Geno Smith, and the linebacker could face penalties under the league’s personal conduct policy.

Enemkpali punched Smith on Tuesday in the Jets’ locker room, breaking Smith’s jaw. Smith will have surgery and could be out for six to 10 weeks.

In March, Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians was asked when the NFL would have a female coach.

The answer was Monday.

The Cardinals hired Jen Welter as an assistant coaching intern for training camp and the preseason to work with inside linebackers. She is believed to be the first female coach of any kind in the NFL.
