There are two things I’m nearly certain of when it comes to the New England Patriots.

First: If they were ever deflating footballs, or otherwise engaging in putrid malfeasance, they are no longer.

Second: They may absolutely, as they did eight years ago, annihilate the rest of the league all season. No, they won’t go undefeated, but it could still be ugly for the rest of the NFL. It could be Godzilla-ish with other franchises serving as small neighborhoods in Tokyo.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin

Something happened during the NFL’s season opener between the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers.

“We were listening to the Patriots’ radio broadcast for the majority of the first half through our headsets,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin told reporters follow a 28-21 loss.  “We will let the league officials handle it.”

Except Pittsburgh didn’t let the league officials handle it. They wrote about it on the team’s official website and came within an inch of accusing New England of cheat

The NFL Players Association extended a settlement offer to the NFL last week regarding Tom Brady‘s suspension for his alleged role in Deflategate, a source told ESPN.com’s Dan Grazia
