Come Out Of That Prison

Come Out Of That Prison

by Tesse Wilson

Jesse did not think he was much of a speaker. He stuttered a lot since he was a child, especially when he was nervous. This was something he was conscious of and felt embarrassed about. But he could not say opportunity. Two weeks ago he was invited to share something positive with inmates  at the prison where he served a twelve year sentence.

Jesse whispered a silent prayer asking God for his help as he alighted his vehicle.  He became very emotional

Daily Devotional: We Pray

by PamFord Davis

We pray.

Jesus said ‘when’ not if you pray.

“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly (Matthew 6:6 NKJV).”

We gain entry into the Lord’s throne room; we pray.

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16 NKJV).”

God has entrusted us with his Word and his Spirit to lead us all the way. The Word and the Spirit are not separate components that function independently (Isa 59:21).

The Holy Spirit never puts the word aside; he makes full use of it. God can lead us in many ways, but his Word is always the crucial guide and benchmark. If we think we can draw solely on the wind of the Holy Spirit, we are like a sailboat without a solid rudder.

Treat her like a lady.

Our son Lee has worked in the service industry for 3 decades. For many of those years he was service manager at a tires business. He expected the men to be on their best behavior. He encouraged them to be courteous; especially to women customers. Lee told them to treat the ladies in the same way they’d want others to treat their mothers.

Husbands, treat her like a lady.

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Hi

Manpower--Passion and Purpose

Don't stop reading! I know you're about to tune me out. After all, what does some alien woman from Venus know about men's issues? Not much from an insider's perspective, but as one with a bird's eye view, I think you might be interested in what I have to say.

Until the advent of my nephews, my dad and husband were the most influential men in my life. (Now, my sisters' two yearlings possess some power to instantly erode my vocabulary back to primitive coos and cuddles.) My father and husband

I remember gym class; I don’t remember it fondly.

I’ve never been athletic or very interested in sports. Exercise in elementary school was okay but I dreaded physical education classes in junior and senior high school. New York State believed it was part of a student’s full rounded education. Unwillingly, I went to the locker room to change into my gym uniform and then into the gymnasium. It was not enjoyable. Yet, I did exercise.

Decades later, I began to see the need

"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went to a solitary place, where He prayed." Mark 1:35

My daily practice has been to follow what Jesus modeled; rising early, in a darkened, quiet, nurturing relationship with Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit.

Solitude, in the union of holy presence, fills me with renewal and spiritual vigor.

I have discovered my days flow smoother in maintaining this habit, which has become my

1. Pray for your spouse.

Prayer is a very powerful way to show love. When we pray for someone, that is Love in action!

I'm so glad that God is not a legalist, and while we should always show Him respect and honor, it's not the posture of the body that is really important, but the posture of the heart. Focusing on Him and how good He has been to us is most important.

Even more powerful is praying with your spouse. If you're not praying together yet, ask the LORD to give y

What makes you a leader?
Is it your gift to teach, your gift to preach or the charismatic way that you present yourself?

Is this what makes a true leader?
No, what makes a true leader is the heart to serve. Not serve oneself, but serve others.
I find that in my daily Christian walk, I've encountered more titles than leaders, this is a very sad st
