The caretaker who called 911 to report of Maya Angelou’s passing told the operator she was hesitant to perform CPR because the author had been adamant that she did not want to be resuscitated in the event of her death.

The operator told the caretaker to perform CPR anyway, because Angelou was not in possession of a “Do Not Resuscitate” order.
