Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your understanding;

Proverbs 3:5 NKJ

Trust is defined as a known reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, and surety, of a person or thing.

As Christians who believe in the divine empowering of a holy God, we are often encouraged to place unwavering trust in this spirit-being.

When we trust in the Lord for the unknowns in life, (family estrangement, suicide, chronic illness, hospice, mental illness, addictio

God, loves and takes care of his children. He always has good plans for us. Jeremiah 29. Verse 11 says...

 For I know the plans that I [a]have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for [b]prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

God also knows that we live in a world where we can become easily distracted by things and even other people. He created us to be relational beings. This is why we are always around people and can't live purposely in isolation. Because of this, he

Look up; turn your eyes toward the merciful LORD.

Worship the LORD; meditate on the words of the Psalmist.

“I will raise my eyes to the mountains;
From where will my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who watches over you will not slumber.
Behold, He who watches over Israel
Will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your protector;
The Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun wil

            In spite of what or who you may think of when you hear the word “father,” and in spite of the fact that a father is biologically required for the birth of a child, according to the Bible, a father is a God-ordained office in a family situation and in the life of a child.  Regardless of our modern acceptance of sinful practices (and no more comment is required for this article), the Biblical definition of a family is a father, a mother and the

It was a simple book-keeping error.

We were getting married in Syracuse, NY and planning a move to Mississippi (where Norm had been hired to work at WDDT, Greenville). Norm forgot to balance his check book in all the excitement of the wedding ceremony and move preparations.

Maybe he could blame the memory lapse on sleep deprivation; he’d been working the midnight-6am shift at WNDR, Syracuse. If my memory serves me he also paid for his wedding tuxedo twice.

We got a letter f

God is a god of preparation. He prepares for everything, because preparation is very important. Everything a person does in life without adequate preparation has a high likelihood of not being a success. It is in this way, god prepares you. He prepares you to do great work for the kingdom of heaven.

He prepares you, so you can be the best version of yourself and it does not matter how long it will take you. As long as God is the one preparing you, then you have nothing to worry about, because

Remember soda fountain shops of the bobby socks era?

My old stomping ground of Chittenango, NY had two popular hangouts in the mid 1960's.

I frequented Jim's and Ken's, both located on Main Street in the village.

Cherry Coke sipped from a straw lifted my spirits while I listened to my favorite songs on the jukebox.

Root beer floats were another favorite at soda shops or home. Today's fast food drive-inns of Sonic and A & W keep the fad alive.

I reminisce about root beer

Are you walking your way to physical fitness on a treadmill?

Maybe you’re pedaling off pounds on a stationary bike.

Exercise requires determination and diligence.

I want to be spiritually fit; don’t you?

I’ve remembered an acrostic once shared by Beverly Chesser (on her Beverly Exercise TV program).

Frequency

Intensity

Time

Beverly stressed the important of frequency (consistency) in any exercise goal and routine. If it’s hit an

Daily Devotional: His Friends

by PamFord Davis

We all have basic needs.

Love is essential and we all need friends.

The LORD spoke of His friendship with Abraham.

“But you, Israel, are My servant,
Jacob whom I have chosen,
The descendants of Abraham My friend (Isaiah 41:8 NKJV).”

That is so meaningful to me; Abraham was God’s friend.

“And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, ‘Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.’ And he was called the friend of God (James 2:23 NKJV).”

A lot of times, people wonder why they go through certain things and why it seems the others simply have it very easy. They blame God, not realizing what God is trying to do for them. So in today's devotional we will be talking on the topic that says: sometimes God breaks you to save a soul. I pray that the eyes of your understanding become enlightened as you open your ears to listen to what he has to say to you in this post. A lot of people won't believe this, but here's the truth, some of the

I took our palomino mare to ride on the country roads near home and had a fantastic time. The sun was shining brightly, and leaves were floating down gently from the trees. Fall would soon be here in its full beauty.

But as a novice teenage horse rider. I had forgotten a couple of significant characteristics of my horse. She loved her own “territory” around the barn where the feed was. And she knew how to fool me.

Sensing her opportunity, she suddenly clenched the bit in

Sometimes people or things are in plain sight; we see but choose to ignore them.

As a child, adolescent and teen, I lived in a two-story house along with my parents and siblings. Mom and Dad slept in a downstairs bedroom and our rooms were upstairs. With a family of 5 children, laundry was a routine chore for our mother.

Mom had reason to complain. She washed, dried and folded our clean clothes. Finished, she stacked them on bottom steps of the stairway to be carried u

In our world today, everyone uses the word love, even when they don’t understand what love is. For example, we see two women having sexual relations with one another, some going to the extent of even getting married under the name of love. That isn’t love; it is an abuse or misrepresentation of love. A man bruises and batters your face on a regular basis and you say he loves you, he just has a problem expressing his emotions. The further away we are from God, the easier it

When Starting a New Challenge it is important that you have a strategy and motivation.

A rock climber cannot just start climbing the side of a mountain without first examining the terrain. They must find the best route to the top, which way will be the safest? As we start a new challenge we must determine what our Goals are and what will keep us going when we get tired? A rock climber cannot decide what to do after they get tired. You cannot decide what to do after you

Pain pain, pain, never has so much been crammed into one word. The pain of depression feels terrifying. Your world is dark, heavy and painful physical pain. You think, would be much better. At least that pain could be localized.

Instead, depression seems to go to your very soul, affecting everything in this path dead, but walking is one way to describe it. You feel numb. Perhaps the worst part is that you remember when you actually felt something and the contrast between then and now just make
