It doesn’t surprise safety Mike Mitchell that the Carolina Panthers are only the third home underdog in the NFL divisional playoffs in the past 20 years.

“We haven’t gotten much respect all year,” he said. “It looks like we still have people to prove wrong.”

The Panthers (12-4) are playing the no-respect card after opening the week as a 1-point underdog against San Francisco (13-4), despite defeating the 49ers 10-9 at Candlestick Park on Nov. 10.

Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith said the 4

Clinton Portis called into his old teammate Fred Smoot's radio show on DC radio station 106.7 The Fan and sometime during his chat about training camps of past, got pulled over for speeding.

The interview was going well until Smoot and co-host Kevin Shafer bid him goodbye and he said: "Hey y'all no problem, you all just got me a speeding ticket."

Apparently the trooper was not impressed with Portis' NFL credentials. While it was never established what team the trooper rooted for, the radio hos

It takes quite the sales job to explain why a medically cleared Robert Griffin III won't play for the rest of the season.
Embattled Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan realized that and gave it his best shot Wednesday, speaking passionately at times in a 28-minute news conference that included references to the team's "circus atmosphere" and insistences that the move isn't a ploy to get himself fired.
The upshot is that Griffin will be the inactive third quarterback for the Redskins' final

Tony Romo was sick, and it wasn't because he had just watched the Oakland Raiders return a fumble for a touchdown on the opening kickoff.

After the Dallas quarterback caught a virus the night before Thanksgiving, his top two running backs were there to help out.
DeMarco Murray ran for three touchdowns, backup Lance Dunbar led Dallas with a career-high 82 yards rushing and the Cowboys overcame the shock of Oakland's early score to beat the Raiders 31-24 Thursday.
Romo still did his part. He
