Texas coach Charlie Strong walked slowly off the turf at Memorial Stadium, swimming upstream against thousands of Kansas fans trying to join the jubilant celebration at midfield.

His wife was weeping outside the Longhorns’ locker room.

His boss walked by with nothing to say.

Rex Ryan has announced that Michael Vick will start at quarterback over Geno Smith in the New York Jets’ game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Ryan says Monday that the decision “isn’t any long-term deal or whatever,” but adds that it is “the right decision for this time.”

Smith, in his second season, was benched in the first quarter of the Jets’ 43-23 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday after throwing interceptions on three consecutive possessions. Vick took over and provided a spar
