The Eagles have released Tim Tebow, ending the former Heisman Trophy winner’s bid to win the No. 3 quarterback job for Chip Kelly in Philadelphia.

Tebow was one of 22 players released Saturday by the Eagles, who also cut veteran offensive lineman John Moffitt and rookie running back Raheem Mostert.

All NFL teams must reduce their rosters to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Saturday, but Tebow appeared to be in contention for a roster spot after Philadelphia traded Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardin

Tim Tebow of the Philadelphia Eagles warms up prior to the game against the Indianapolis Colts on Aug. 16, 2015 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

In wake of the fights breaking out at joint practices—the Rams and Cowboys this week, the Redskins and Texans earlier in August as depicted on HBO’s Hard Knocks—it isn’t that shocking to hear that there was nearly a fight between the Eagles and Ravens Wednesday.

That is, until Tim Tebow intervened.

From reports, it was unclear exactly who

With zero help from his offensive line, Robert Griffin III repeatedly wound up on the turf until leaving with a concussion after being sacked three times and fumbling twice Thursday night in the Washington Redskins’ 21-17 exhibition victory over the Detroit Lions.

It was hardly a “U mad bro?” type of moment for Richard Sherman when Tom Brady’s name came up after the Seattle Seahawks finished off a camp practice this week.

It was more a matter of Sherman feeling Brady’s pain.

The spirited all-pro cornerback sympathizes for the New England Patriots quarterba

If it’s preseason it must be time for Robert Griffin III to utter meaningless quotes that are ridiculed for his complete lack of self awareness. And (checks watch), it’s time.

Here was the Redskins quarterback, who should no longer be referred to as “RG3” because nicknames are for people who aren’t in quarterback battles with Kirk Cousins, speaking to Alex Parker of Washington’s ABC affiliate right before the ‘Skins broke camp (via DC Sports Bog):

It’s time for Ray Rice to be given a chance to return to the National Football League.

This is not a popular opinion. Eleven months after the awful video surfaced showing him punching his soon-to-be wife, Rice remains a pariah. Most Americans view him as the personification of domestic violence, and he says he understands that. Most NFL teams are afraid to touch him, fearing the public onslaught that is certain to come should they bring him in, and he says he understands that, too.

In March, Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians was asked when the NFL would have a female coach.

The answer was Monday.

The Cardinals hired Jen Welter as an assistant coaching intern for training camp and the preseason to work with inside linebackers. She is believed to be the first female coach of any kind in the NFL.

“Someone asked me yesterday, ‘When are we going to have female coaches?'” Arians said. “The minute they can prove they can make a player better, they’ll be hired.”

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has upheld Patriots quarterback Tom Brady‘s four-game suspension for violating the league’s policy on integrity of the game, the league announced Tuesday.

Brady was suspended four games in May after footballs used by the Patriots during the AFC Championship Game against the Colts were found to be inflated under the minimum level prescribed by the league. Along with the NFL Players Association, Brady challenged his penalty and testified before Goodell at an appea

The Jameis Winston era is about to begin this fall in Tampa Bay, and Winston seems to have made a positive first impression on his new teammates. During an appearance on Sirius XM radio, veteran receiver Louis Murphy lauded Winston’s competitive spirit and compared him to Eagles backup Tim Tebow.

The Deflategate controversy took an interesting turn on Tuesday when Robert Kraft threw in the towel instead of challenging the NFL like many thought he would.

On Sports Tonight, Michael Felger suggested Kraft did an about-face with his argument because he and coach Bill Belichick were starting to believe that Brady wasn’t being completely transparent with what he told them.

That’s when Ron Borges threw out an interesting piece of information.

Despite a near constant stream of trade rumors, the Titans held onto their No. 2 pick and landed Marcus Mariota.

The 2014 Heisman Trophy winner was thought to be coveted by his former college coach, Chip Kelly, as well as higherups from the BrownsBears and Jets.

In the end, though, the Titans liked him enough to decline any and all offers that headlined one of the busier pre-draft periods in recent memory.

Class is in session, and Robert Griffin III is taking notes.

The Washington Redskins quarterback got a firsthand look at how Tom Brady and the New England Patriots operate last preseason when the two teams held joint practices in August. The squads then went in completely opposite directions, as Griffin’s Redskins finished 4-12 while Brady’s Patriots went on to win the Super Bowl.

Yet apparently RGIII’s observations of New England stuck with him. In a recent interview with NFL Media’s Jeff
