Cam Newton has the Carolina Panthers off to a perfect start.

In one of the most complete efforts of his five-year career, Newton completed 20 of 31 passes for 315 yards with a pair of touchdowns to tight end Greg Olsen and also ran for a score as the Panthers defeated the New Orleans Saints 27-22 on Sunday.

The New Orleans Saints should see Cam Newton for several more seasons with the Carolina Panthers. The Charlotte Observer and USA Today are among many outlets to report Newton will be paid at least $20 million per year over a five-year extension that will run through 2020.

The contract will put Newton in the company of the Saints’ Drew Brees as a quarterback with a $20 million average annual salary. Other quarterbacks with $20 million per year deals are the Packers’ Aaron Rodgers, Steelers’
