“One expression in Titus 2 deserves special notice. It is the word homemakers. The Greek word is oikourgous, which literally means “workers at home.” Oikos is the Greek word for “home,” and ergon means “work, employment.” It suggests that a married woman’s first duty is to her own family, in her own household. Managing her own home should be her primary employment, her first task, her most important job, and her true career.”

Proverbs 12:4: “A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.”

Matthew Poole’s Commentary on Proverbs 12:4:

A crown; a singular ornament and matter of his glorying and joy.

That maketh ashamed; that by her folly or wickedness bringeth shame to herself and to her husband. As rottenness in his bones; loathsome, and vexatious, and pernicio

What’s your honest opinion? Do red lights interfere with your schedule?

My husband doesn’t like sitting at big city red lights. They take so long to change. Personally, I prefer red lights over 4-way stop signs. Red lights take the guess work out of stopping and proceeding into traffic. I wouldn’t find opinions or preferences in the Louisiana driver’s manual. The pamphlet explains the laws.

What about caution lights? Many drivers speed up to avoid the changing from yello

In today’s devotional we will be talking about something really important. It can be a reason why many people aren’t doing well or why many are stuck in a place. Most times some of us wonder, how come my blessing never comes? How come my plans fail, I had a great idea but it just fizzled out now someone else is doing it and it seems like a terrific idea what happened to me? It’s amazing sometimes that the little things we do are responsible for the major failure we get in life. So in toda

Proverbs 12:4: “A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.”

Keil and Delitzsch Biblical Commentary on the Old Testament on Proverbs 12:4:

“4 A good brave wife is the crown of her husband,

But as rottenness in his bones is one that causeth shame.

As Proverbs 11:16 says of אושׁת חן, the p

Many times in life, we are faced with different challenges. This life comes with its own pressures in every sphere. Sometimes, you might seem to have failed in what you want to do. And right there you are. A downcast. A laughing stock. Your friends chose to leave you. Then when you turn around, you find nobody but yourself. This is a typical description of someone who has lost everything or something that he holds dear. What am I saying? There are things that you have to accept. For instance, yo

Romans 8:18, for I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Battles are faced by everyone. In fact, the storms of life come against everyone, and many times we tend to see only the bad in the storm. We only see the trouble it causes. In fact, battles make us stronger and they stretch us beyond our normal level.

If soldiers do not go to war, they become weak and this is the same for every one of us. So how can

Daily Devotional: A Secret

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless (Ephesians 5:25-27 NASB).

Daily Devotional: New is Nice

by PamFord Davis

Countless people succumb to new car fever.

Others dream of moving into a new apartment or house. I was happy when my sister Donna had her new apartment experience. Her name was on the list of prospective tenants as the building was still in construction.

Donna was one of the first to move in. Not long ago, friend Nancy had the same advantage at her assisted living apartment. New is nice.

I guess I’m weird; I like new ordinary things.

I like to open new boxes of tea, ca
