When it comes to the U.S. smartphone market, it's mostly a two-horse race. Cumulatively, and sell two out of every three smartphones, with smaller manufacturers such as HTC and Motorola fighting for what's left.

But that could change next year, when Asus brings its PadFone to the United States. The device, powered by Google's Android, is particularly revolutionary and has the potential to disrupt the mobile market.

Asus' PadFone combines a tablet with a smartpho

The troubled mobile phone maker BlackBerry still has at least one very loyal customer: U.S. President Barack Obama.
At a meeting with youth on Wednesday to promote his landmark healthcare law, Obama said he is not allowed to have Apple's smart phone, the iPhone, for "security reasons," though he still uses Apple's tablet computer, the iPad.

iPad Mini Retina Pricing
apple-fall-announcements

Did you know that the iPad Mini is the most popular iPad? Yep, it outsells the iPad 4 by a margin of two to one. Today, it got a big upgrade. At a special event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Apple unveiled the second generation of its 7.9-inch little wonder: the new “iPad Mini with Retina display,” which we will hereafter refer to as the iPad Mini 2. The iPad has been in need of an overhaul, given that the iPad 4 was a very light refresh over its predecessor, the iPad 3. Simply put, Apple has delivered here. As with every Apple launch, rumors of its design and specification had been spreading for months. Now that we have some hard details, lets go through them.

Introduced by Phil Schiller, the new iPad is thinner, lighte

Last month, Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook introduced the colorful iPhone 5c, a less-expensive version of Apple's smartphone, to "serve even more customers" around the world. It turns out people so far are more interested in its pricier, feature-rich cousin, the 5s.
Three surveys in the past two weeks said the company's new high-end model is outselling the

iPhone 5S main

At a special media event held on its Cupertino, California campus, Apple has announced theiPhone 5S, after CEO Tim Cook called it, “The most forward thinking phone we’ve ever created.” The headline feature is the inclusion of a biometric fingerprint sensor called Touch ID, which is mounted inside the iPhone’s traditional Home button. It’s used not only as a new way to unlock the phone, but also for authenticating purchases in iTunes. It’s clever too, and Apple says it can read sub-epiderma

Reports suggest that Apple will introduce a cheaper plastic-bodied iPhone 5C on September 10. The 4-inch phone will supposedly replace the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S in the product lineup. While the company will certainly gain market share in the lower-end spectrum of the smartphone market in the U.S., it’s just a side effect. The new model is the perfect iPhone for the rest of the world. In many countries, carriers are switching to unsubsidized, SIM-only plans and the iPhone is too expensive

There's very little doubt that Apple is developing a new iPhone, and a new version of iOS, but today The Next Web claims to have seen the very first sketchy evidence of Apple's next handset and mobile operating system. According to the publication, one iOS developer discovered that a device named "iPhone 6,1" running iOS 7 was making requests from an IP address within Apple's Cupertino campus itself.
Now, it could be that the company that promised to "double down on secrecy" is merely to

Apple’s fourth-generation iPad. Photo: John Bradley / Wired

If you own a third-generation iPad, you might be feeling a little burned by Apple this week. You’re fine with the iPad Mini the company announced. You saw that one coming. The fourth-generation iPad, though? And just six months after you bought Apple’s last latest-and-greatest iPad? Not cool. Not only are you now carrying around an iPad that doesn’t have Apple’s fastest mobile processor, what used to be an innocent port for the 30-pi

DNP Nexus 7 review

In 2008, when the Eee PC was revolutionizing the computing world and driving every manufacturer to make cheaper and smaller laptops, Sony washed its hands of the whole thing. The “race to the bottom,” the company said, would profoundly impact the industry, killing profit margins and flooding the market with cheap, terrible machines. Sony was wrong, its stance lasting about a year before joining the competition with its own VAIO W.

Four years on we’re buying better laptops than ever before and,

[Rumor] Galaxy Note 2 Will Sport a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED Screen

We’ve previously reported about the various rumors of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 floating around. Today, an exclusive tip that was given to GSM Arena has the Note 2 confirmed to have a 5.5″ Super AMOLED screen with the phones design taking a kin to the Samsung Galaxy S III. Interestingly enough, even though the screen is slightly larger than the predecessor, the width and the form factor of the Note 2 will actually be slimmer than the first one. T-Mobile (Huawei) Prism on sale now for

Need an Android phone for not much dough? Live in a reliable T-Mobile 3G area? Then you might want to consider the “T-Mobile” Prism, Huawei’s latest de-branded device for the American carrier. The Prism is low-end in every sense of the word, but that doesn’t necessarily mean bad and the low-end is moving forward nearly as fast as flagship devices are. The biggest improvement here is the 3.5-inch 480×320 touchscreen, markedly larger and sharper than the 3.2-inch screens that typify the c
