BlackBerry's next flagship smartphone will be announced at MWC on February 25

While the specifications and software are not yet finalized, the BlackBerry ‘Mercury’ is a promising Android phone targeted toward people who prefer physical keyboards, as well as BlackBerry’s suite of secure apps such as BBM.

BlackBerry kicked its own BlackBerry Operating System to the curb last year in favor of the more popular Android OS, and no longer manufactures its own phones, but that doesn’t mean they’re

BlackBerry is back with another phone. But does anyone care?

The struggling phone maker on Tuesday unveiled the BlackBerry DTEK 50, its second phone powered by Google’s Android mobile software. Unlike the company’s first Android phone, the Priv, the DTEK 50 does away with BlackBerry’s signature physical keyboard and opts for a full screen. It will sell for $299.

BlackBerry hopes the DTEK 50 addresses one of the key complaints about the Priv: its lofty $700 price tag, which put it above highe

In days long past, arguably two companies commanded high court among the grand arena of phones: Nokia and BlackBerry. Whereas the former took a path that many have criticized and lamented, the latter looks to be heading towards one Espoo should have embarked on from the onset: open adoption of Android. According to leaks and rumors, Waterloo plans to release several Android-based BlackBerry devices this Fall, one of which is the fascinating Venice. Thanks to the largest

There have been rumours that smartphone maker BlackBerry is working on an Android phone with a “dual curved display” (a la the Galaxy S6 Edge) that slides up to reveal a physical keyboard.

The smartphone is supposedly based on a device originally announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona back in March. A low-resolution image of the device being held up on stage had leaked earlier on Twitter.

Now, Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) has posted a high-resolution render of the device, codenamed

BlackBerry Porsche Design P'9983 Graphite

Remember last year’s rather ludicrous BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9983 smartphone? If you don’t, consider yourself lucky, as BlackBerry is more than happy to remind you with its recent release of the Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite.

The Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite distances itself from its predecessor, thanks to “exclusive graphite-metallic colored elements” and a leather rear cover. This runs opposite to the glossy back found on the older model, though both d

However, there’s something else in the job description no one noticed until now: He must also attempt to convert his wife to BlackBerry, according to an interview with the Financial Times.

Chen revealed that his wife would rather use her Samsung Galaxy smartphone than a BlackBerry smartphone. It turns out Chen has bee

The squared design is going to be a matter of taste, given how challenging one-handed operation can be, but BlackBerry could be on to something.

It is perhaps fitting that a company as maligned and battered as BlackBerry would launch a new smartphone that has one of the oddest dimensions and form factors seen in a handset to date. For a device that is supposed to reflect the notion of “serious business,” as company execs kept saying, this is a phone that is a head-turner, thoug

Blackberry Porsche Design P’9983 was officially announced by the company on Wednesday. The device comes with Blackberry OS 10.3, and costs a fortune so it may not see a widespread adoption — the Porsche Design Blackberry handsets have never seen high sales in the past either due to their extremely high price tag.

“The Porsche Design P’9983 smartphone from BlackBerry makes a statement about its owner’s impeccable taste and drive for achievement and success, as well as discernment in making th

The troubled mobile phone maker BlackBerry still has at least one very loyal customer: U.S. President Barack Obama.
At a meeting with youth on Wednesday to promote his landmark healthcare law, Obama said he is not allowed to have Apple's smart phone, the iPhone, for "security reasons," though he still uses Apple's tablet computer, the iPad.
Apple was one of several tech companies that ma

Reuters is reporting that Google is one of the companies interested in buying Blackberry or at least some parts of it, among other companies like Cisco and SAP. This sounds like a good move for Google, depending on what exactly they’re interested in getting from Blackberry and how much they’re willing to spend for that.

For example, I’m not so sure buying the whole company outright, with all of its employees, would be worth it for Google. Paying another $5-$7 billion for a dying company, on
