After T-Mobile discontined sales of the iconic Sidekick smartphone last July, some wondered if the company had plans to keep the brand alive. There had been some rumors that the company was planning on a new Android-based version of the device — that appears to be true. Sprint annouced Kyocera Echo, the first Android smartphone with two capacitive touchscreens. 

Sprint’s February 7th event has no iPhone 4, but it featured a brand new phone that will use Android as operating system, the Echo manufactured by Japanese company Kyocera. The name is perfect because the smartphone has two capacitive touchscreens, and can be combined to form one screen.

Dell has done a very limited promotional campaign in regards to its Dell Venue phone and it will be interesting to see what the sales of this Android phone will be like. This Sunday is all about Super Bowl XLV, with the Pittsburgh Steelers going against the Green Bay Packers. As Super Bowl fans would be all excited, so are Android fans. Motorola is planning to air an ad for the world’s first Android OS 3.0 (Honeycomb) powered tablet, their XOOM, during the game.
