"Be still and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10

The words 'be still' were written in the context of a time of war; therefore, we should consider the verse with that context in mind. The English interpretation of to 'be still' is to "cease striving, or stop struggling."

To stop struggling is to learn to let go of that which we as a human cannot ‘fix’, resolve or remedy; confessing our helplessness. We then place our belief in God, who is faithful to fulfill all his promise

Daily Devotional: Before and After

by PamFord Davis

Before and after pictures are frequently used in weight loss advertisements. Our eyes are quickly drawn to the images when we see a drastic change and improvement.

There were no cameras at Legion’s transformation; yet, there were eye witnesses.

Legion before …

“Then they sailed to the country of the Gadarenes, which is opposite Galilee.  And when He stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons for a long time. And he wore no clothes, n

In the strange events of life, it is impossible to visualize or picture what the next 'thing' or even what the next moment will bring.

There is no pandemic, no doubting, no behavior, no questioning, no mistake, no regret, and nothing that will ever keep us from the love of God. The harsh adversities we experienced in the past, now or in the future, will never remove God's love.

As unexpected circumstances crash into our now, and we find ourselves in dark places, feeling

“Amplified Bible John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation, distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]”

So many places in the Bible speak of peace, this means that if peace is important to us, it is of even more importance to God. But, this perfect peace the Bible speaks of seems only to be

Daily Devotional: White Gold

by PamFord Davis

It’s not Jed Clampett’s Texas tea (oil). It was once called white gold. King Cotton was one of the leading exports in early 1800’s America. Rural Northeast Louisiana has produced high amounts of cotton; now most farmers plant corn and soybeans. Yet, I do see some beautiful cotton fields. My husband and passed a bumper crop yesterday.

Hats off to farmers who plant the seeds!

“Listen then to the parable of the sower.  When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does no

Daily Devotional: Thirsty?

 by PamFord Davis

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled (Matthew 5:6 NKJV).”

It’s not by chance or so called coincidence.

God is persistent; He uses repetition to get His point across. A common spiritual theme will pop up repeatedly.

I pay attention.

In this instance, the theme is thirst. The LORD creates a thirst for intimacy with Him; He alone satisfies and quenches that thirst.

“As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul fo

"We know that all things work together for good, for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose?" Romans 8:28 NRSV

Believers, you, I, and we are personally and intricately loved by God whose holiness grasps hold of each human being. It is the pursuit of divine love who is orchestrating all events, all circumstances, and all challenges, inviting each one nearer to his passion.

The ‘things’ that occur can be ones allowed, consequences from poor choices, an

Daily Devotional: Wonderful Father

by PamFord Davis

Ladies, does this situation sound familiar?

You’ve been invited to attend a party or preparing to celebrate a special occasion. After looking through your full clothes closet, you talk to yourself.

‘I don’t have a thing to wear.’

Wild flowers…

Wonderful Father!

“And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one o

Daily Devotional: Two Disciples

by PamFord Davis

Two disciples…

One betrayed the Lord.

“And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and elders of the people.

Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, ‘Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.’  Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, ‘Greetings, Rabbi!’ and kissed Him (Matthew 26:47-49 NKJV.”

Guilt overwhelmed Judas.

“Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had

Waiting is not one of the things humans are used to. No one likes to wait; especially when the results of other people can be seen. Another reason why waiting seems so difficult is because most people do not know what to do during this period. They then begin to feel their life is on hold. In today’s devotional, we will talk on the topic “The other side of waiting; testimony of God’s faithfulness in hard times”

• It’s hard to keep waiting when it seems everyone else is ahead of you. What we fa

As compassionate and as loving as God is, he isn't bound to react to your struggles or your cries. He only reacts to your prayers. Many people feel God is all powerful and can cause anything to happen anytime. Whilst this may be true, it's also not true. God gave man power to have dominion on earth, God isn't sharing that power with him. He gave earth to man. So the only way to involve God in the activities of the earth is through prayer. God is limited to your prayers. So where you struggle,

Psalm 27:14- Wait in the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

The topic of today, “Why is God asking me to wait?” Waiting is actually one of the things people struggle with the most. Keeping a person waiting usually ends up in making the person annoyed, so when we realize God is telling us to wait, a lot of questions go through our through our hearts and one foremost question, “Why should I wait?”
Sometimes these questions drive us away from G

Amaziah: But I have already paid 7,500 pounds of silver to the Northern Kingdom's troops. What should be done?  Follower of God: Don't worry about the money. It is nothing compared to what the Eternal has to give you- 2 Chronicles 25:9 The Voice.

If you're anything like me, you don't have money or time for that matter to waste. So, I can relate to Amaziah saying, hey, what about the money that I've already spent, especially since 7,500 pounds of silver equates to $2,507,
