vita

I’ve enjoyed the PS Vita for a couple of weeks now. It’s a fun device, but as John describes in our review, it feels like the last of its kind. Single function devices are no longer relevant and as much as Sony tried, the Vita is still pretty much a dedicated gaming handheld.

The company launched an app store for the Vita today, which folds Facebook, Netflix, Twitter, and Flickr apps into the Vita’s ecosystem. With these apps, along with the powerful hardware and 3G connectivity, the $249 Vita could be a good alternative to a traditional tablet. The only thing it’s missing is a proper web browser.

The apps work as expected. The Netflix app uses the same interface as the company’s Android and iOS apps. The app does not support streaming via a 3G network, though. Flickr is downright gorgeous on the Vita. The interface takes full advantage of the Vita’s widescreen OLED screen displaying the image on the left with the details on the right. This app works on 3G. For some reason Facebook is only available to European Vitas. U.S. owners will need to wait a bit longer.

These apps finally make the Vita slightly more than just a gaming device. They’re key to the Vita’s success, really. Today’s consumers expect a multifunction device, which, as I can attest, the Vita was not until these apps hit. In fact I was getting a tad bored with the Vita, tending to instead to pick up my iPad for a few minutes of gaming followed by some Facebooking.

You see, my gaming attention span is not what it used to be. There was a time when I played Link’s Awakening by flashlight under my bed sheets for hours. Not anymore. I can only handle a few minutes at a time before I get bored and need to move onto something else. I know I cannot be alone. The $249 Vita (or $300 for the 3G version) was a hard sell for me. But now that there are apps, it could potentially fulfill the need of a similar person who wants a gaming device but can’t give up the features of a modern tablet. The Vita already had a Google Maps app, text and voice messaging, and a photo app. If only the Vita had a quality web browser it would be nearly perfect for this demographic.

The Vita’s web browser still needs work. It renders web sites like IE 6 (read: poorly). It doesn’t support even Flash 9 and scrolling is painful because of how slow it renders. But it works in a pinch.

The Vita is a powerful little thing. It rocks a custom ARM Cortex A9 quad-core CPU, 512MB of RAM, and packs the same amount of connectivity options as an iPad. The 5-inch screen is an OLED capacitive touchscreen and then there’s a massive rear capacitive touchpad for additional controls. There’s dual analog sticks, a directional pad and traditional PlayStation controls. The Vita really is the most impressive gaming device ever made. But even with good launch titles in my opinion it was still missing something: apps.

The Vita is launching in a tough market. No other gaming device including Nintendo’s 3DS had to deal with so many competitors. The Vita must combat smartphones, tablets, the 3DS and in the coming weeks, the iPad 3, which will no doubt launch with the force of a mighty backdraft. But Sony seems to know this. The Vita’s hardware and accessories are pricey, hinting that Sony isn’t selling them at a loss. Sony probably knows the Vita won’t outsell the iPad. It doesn’t have to in order to be considered a success. As long as the Vita gets quality games, apps and new features at a steady rate, Sony will continue to make gamers happy. And that’s what it’s all about.

T-Mobile Attempts To Persuade FCC To Block Verizons Acquisition Of Cable Company Spectrum

There’s a reason why T-Mobile is referred to as “scrappy”.  According to some recent FCC filings, o’l Magenta is looking to step in on Verizon’s latest acquisition attempt to purchase spectrum from a number of cable companies of which some deals are already in the works.  Companies such as Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications and House Networks.  According to T-Mobile, the deal would focus an “excessive concentration” of wireless spectrum to be laid at the feet of one of the biggest wireless carriers in the U.S.  In addition, m…

LG Cayman And The DROID Fighter On The Way To Verizon Wireless

Well look what we have here? The fine folks at Droid Life seem to have stumbled upon information that was accidentally leaked out. As you can see in the screenshot, the information includes two new devices that are on their way: the LG Cayenne and the “DROID Fighter”. News and information are scarce for both devices. We haven’t heard much chatter from Verizon very much about its upcoming toys lately, nor have we seen any leaks or information— so this is as big of a surprise to you all as it is to us here. Perhaps the LG Cayenne will be a dumbed-down version of …

Who Cares About Whitney?

whitney-houston

High Society Collective has a good article about the late pop icon, Whitney Houston. Here's some of this insightful piece by Shaun Sorrells.

I’m having a difficult time with the untimely death of Whitney Houston. So much so, that I want to yell out, “Who cares about Whitney“…

Don’t read that as an exclamation of indifference or flippancy towards her death. Instead add a question mark at the end of that phrase, and you’ll capture my heart on this matter. “Who cares about Whitney?”

My wife and I were driving to my birthday celebration when a radio announcer interrupted the 808-laden music we were bumpin’ in preparation for my shindig. “It’s with great sorrow…” he began. What came next was a reality that, for many, would simply be a tragic and inevitable end to a story that was dragging on way too long. Over the last 48 hours, it seems clear to me that as a society, we wrote Whitney off a long time ago… at least I did. But who cares?

things that God delivered you from in that process. Feel free to
elaborate even on how those things that were foolish in your past, God
has even begun to use those things for His glory.

Json: Man by God's grace I have made it through a lot. So much I can't even
put it all in words. Because there’s so much to the story I really
encourage people to peep the links below to my documentary. It walks
through my life and interviews my mother as well as homies from my
hood.

Konviction: From what I understand, you are certainly 116 affiliated, but you
are your own artist on Lamp Mode Recordings. Can you share with us
what has made the relationship with Lamp Mode significant for your
ministry and what circumstances lead you in that direction?

Json: Well, I have pretty much always been friends with the guys a Lamp
Mode. I think what lead me that direction was Esso reached out to me
and let me know they wanted to work with me. After careful
consideration, I felt the Lord leading me that way. Esso handles
business very well and though most the artist on the label differed in
style from myself, I just thought it would be a good fit.

Konviction: In speaking with you briefly and doing basic interview preparation,
I discerned that there is a specific calling on your life beyond rap.
Can you elaborate on what your purpose is in ministry and where the
Lord is taking you over the next five years? How was Hip Hop been
integral in preparing you for this mission?

Json: My main heart is teaching. That’s what my heart burns for. I can seemyself in a pastoral role someday if the Lord sees fit. My plan is tobe a part of a church plant called The Gate located in Saint Louis in

the coming years. Through doing music I have seen abroad the need for
solid churches and discipleship.

Konviction: In listening to your music and being exposed to aspects of your
testimony, you certainly have a penchant for the streets. In your
opinion, what can we as ministers of the message of Christ, do to more
effectively engage urban communities with gospel? From a practical
perspective, what would you suggest for single parent women raising
males, as this is often the case.

Json: I think ultimately we need sound biblical church. We need believers
serving and in submission to those churches. Churches that are
preaching and living truth and making disciples. I believe this
directly connects with single parent mothers. Wiser men/women are able
to take those children under their wing and teach truth to those kids.
Provide lessons on manhood they would not otherwise receive from home.
The church should be the hub for these situations. This is exactly
what gangs and hoods are to these young individuals.

Konviction: Are you a City Light homey?? Explain the concept of your most
recent project for us from a biblical perspective. How does this
project compare to previous ones? From a creative and musical
perspective, are there things you still desire to accomplish
musically? Be specific as possible. Tell us what's coming up musically
and what we can expect from you futuristically.

Json: Definitely. LOL I still am. The concept just came from the idea of
being lights to the world and refusing to hide that light. City Lights
was the first time I was able to fully express my burden for the
environment I have come from. It was not an attempt to teach people to
be a light but to show people my desire to be one in hopes it would
encourage the same. Musically a lot will be different as you will see
with the new album, Growing Pains which will release Feb 21st, 2012.

Konviction: Tell us about the new album Growing Pains?

Json: Honestly, Growing Pains is more than a album to me. It’s more so my
last year of life on record. This is the most therapeutic and
practical album I have ever written. However it’s very different than
anything that I have done in the past. Musically it’s not a hard rough
bang-bang album. It’s more reflective and emotional and mature.
Growing Pains is everyday life for the Christian. The listener has to
come to this album expecting different but must approach with a mature
ear. I feel it’s my best work to date.

Konviction: In your opinion, how has Christian Hip Hop evolved over the last
couple of years? Who do you see on the horizon as an emerging artist
ready to make noise? ( I kno bruh. I'm tryin you! Lol.)

Json: I think its getting better sonically but of course still needs a lot
of work. It’s a lot of dudes killing it now. I’m feeling Bizzle and
K.B. just to name a couple. But I’m thankful for what we are able to
do man.

Konviction:. What are you currently reading, whether it be Bible,
Bible/Christian based, or otherwise, that you think will touch the
lives of other people? Please elaborate for us scholar!

Json: Currently I just read a book by Phanatik titles "City Of Allegory"
it’s a great book. It’s like a novel filled with biblical truth along
the lines of C.S. Lewis. In the Bible I’m currently reading 1 Peter.

Konviction: Are there any parting words for the people? Where can they reach
you? Any free music? Downloads, video clips, etc.? Holla at us!

Json: Make sure y'all go out and get the new Album Growing Pains Out now

jeremy-lin-FAITH-asian-american.jpg

When Jeremy Lin was a sophomore at Harvard, he was struggling emotionally. A good guard on an awful basketball team - the Crimson finished the season with an 8-22 record - he needed something more than hoops.
Lin, who had been baptized into an evangelical Chinese church near San Francisco in ninth grade and had come to value Christian fellowship through his youth group, was part of the  Harvard-Radcliffe Asian American Christian Fellowship group, regularly attending Bible study.
But most of his life was spent with his basketball teammates and other athletes, he later told the Student Soul, a website of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.
"It's a tough environment and if you don't have appropriate boundaries, you'll compromise your faith," he told the website, run by a major Christian college ministry, in 2010.
So, during his sophomore year, Lin stepped up his involvement in the Asian-American Christian group, about 80 members strong, gaining a sense of community that had eluded him.
Those kinds of stories are becoming increasingly commonplace as more second generation Asian-Americans like Lin join campus Christian groups, said Carolyn Chen, who directs Asian-American Studies at Northwestern University.
"What's happening at the college level, for students this is a really important time and this is a really important form of community," Chen said. "It is also somewhat like an extended family for them."
According to the latest census, the Asian population in the United States grew by 43.3% between 2000 and 2010, the largest percentage increase of any ethnic or racial group. Asians make up just under 5% of the population.
Asian-American Christianity, experts say, is growing along with that population boom, especially among second generation Chinese-Americans. Jeremy Lin, whose parents are from Taiwan and who talks openly about his Christian faith, has become a symbol of that trend.
Pyong Gap Min , a sociology professor at Queens College in New York, said there has been growth in the number of Asian-America Christian churches, though it is hard to get reliable numbers on the size of the community.
But Min said the number of Pan-Asian churches is increasing, especially on the West Coast, where congregations that have traditionally been dominated by one ethnicity have become multiethnic. Many of those churches are adding services specifically for second generation Asian-Americans, many of whom want services in English.
Chen said more Asian-Americans are also joining traditionally white evangelical congregations.
"You see Asians gaining more visibility in American evangelical circles," Chen said. "What you are seeing is more integration."
Lin grew up in Chinese churches. On college campuses, Asian Christian groups have grown up separately from the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.
Jeremy Yang, a senior at Harvard who sits on the board of the Harvard-Radcliffe Asian American Christian Fellowship, said his group offers a place where faith and culture intersect. Students feel comfortable being with and sharing their faith with other Asian-Americans, he said.
The Harvard group began in 1994 as part of the Harvard-Radcliffe Christian Fellowship. So many Asians joined their Bible study that the founders decided to form a separate entity, he said.
"The growth was really explosive," he said. "There is something about being Asian-American that attracted people into the fellowship."
Fenggang Yang, author of "Chinese Christians in America: Conversion, Assimilation, and Adhesive Identities" and a professor at Purdue University, said Asians are drawn to Christianity partly by values that dovetail with Asian culture, including thrift, education and family.
"In that way it helps them assimilate into the U.S. culture while preserving important aspects of their cultures," he wrote in an e-mail.

rick-santorum-campaigns-IN-michigan.jpg
After Rick Santorum ignited controversy over the weekend by saying President Barack Obama has a "phony" and "different theology" that's not "based on the Bible," and amid ongoing discomfort among some politicians and religious figures over Mitt Romney's Mormon faith, a coalition of major religious organizations is calling on presidential candidates to keep religion out of politics.
On Tuesday, the Anti-Defamation League, the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty and the Interfaith Alliance released a "statement of principles" on religion in political campaigns that calls on candidates vying for office to feel comfortable explaining their religious conviction to voters but also warn that "there is a point when an emphasis on religion becomes inappropriate and even unsettling in a religiously diverse society such as ours."
The call has been endorsed by 14 major Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu and Sikh organizations, and asks candidates to:
  • Attempt to fulfill the promise of America by seeking to serve and be responsive to the full range of constituents, irrespective of their religion.
  • Conduct their campaigns without appeals, overt or implicit, for support based upon religion.
  • Reject appeals or messages to voters that reflect religious prejudice, bias, or stereotyping.
  • Engage in vigorous debate on important and disputed issues, without deliberately encouraging division in the electorate along religious lines, or between voters who characterize themselves as religious and voters who do not.
"Candidates do not have to check their religion at the door of the offices they seek. But they need to understand that they serve people of other faiths and of no faith. Resorting to religious language that sets people of faith against each other harms political discourse and sows religious discord," said J. Brent Walker, executive director of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty, in a statement.
Anti-Defamation League national director Abraham Foxman encouraged candidates to "avoid overt appeals for support on the basis of religion" and set a "proper tone" when it comes to discussing their beliefs and those of others.
The Rev. Dr. C. Welton Gaddy, president of Interfaith Alliance, said he has been "deeply disturbed by the disproportionate role religion has played during recent election cycles with some candidates seeming to be running for 'pastor-in-chief'" and that "a line is crossed when a candidate implies that they should receive your vote because of their faith."

michael-bloomberg-defends-city-surveillance-of-MUSLIMS.jpg

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Tuesday fired back at the president of Yale University and others who have suggested city police went too far in their surveillance of Muslims.
"We have to keep this country safe," the mayor told reporters, addressing questions about an Associated Press report that said the NYPD was closely monitoring Muslim student associations in schools across the Northeastern United States.
"If people put things on websites and make them available to everybody, of course the NYPD is going to look at anything that's publicly available in the public domain," Bloomberg said. "And given we've had a dozen people arrested or convicted of terrorist acts who've come from similar organizations, we have an obligation to do so."
The AP article said police have tracked websites, and on one occasion sent an undercover officer with students from The City College of New York on a whitewater rafting trip.
"The police department goes where there are allegations," the mayor said, adding that the city's officers are seeking to protect "the very things that allow Yale to survive."
But Yale President Richard Levin described New York's surveillance program as "antithetical to the values" of the New Haven, Connecticut, university and those of the nation.
When asked by a reporter if police had gone too far by sending the agent on the rafting trip, Bloomberg responded "no."
Police spokesman Paul Browne told CNN that his agency does not monitor students directly, but confirmed it does monitor the websites they use.
"In any case where you see an NYPD officer present, it's an indication that we were looking at an individual," he said.

LESSON 13
CHRISTIAN HOME AND FAMILY

Dr George Watkins

As God is bringing restoration and order to the Household of God (the Church), we find that the home plays a vital part in this visitation. In the Old Testament, the family was the corporate body of worshippers with the father as the spiritual leader and authority (Joshua 24:15).

(1) HOW IS THE CHRISTIAN HOME ESTABLISHED?

A material house does not come together without a blueprint. As Christians, the blueprint of God's Word is our guideline for establishing our home.

A. Every institution must have a proper foundation
(Matthew 7:24-27); (Luke 6:46-49).

1. Proper foundation for the family unit is first to be "born again".
2. Not only hear the Word of God, but practice it as it relates to the family unit and relationships within the family.
B. A home must be built (Psalms 127:1); (Proverbs 14:1).

   1. Each member has a responsibility.
   2. As each member functions in his/her area of responsibility, the home will be built.

C. There must be divinely instituted government within the home (Ephesians 6:1-4); (5:22-32).
There is a "chain of command", or order of headship, in the home, even as there is in the Church or civil government (I Corinthians 11:3); (Colossians 1:18).

(2) WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF HEADSHIP?
A. The Scriptures declare that the husband and wife are "one flesh". Thus, headship is not intended to bring about division, but unity.

B. Headship does not mean:

1. Dictatorship. 2. Inequality of men, women or children. 3. Inferiority of Woman. 4. Superiority of Man.

(3) WHAT IS MARRIAGE?

A. Covenant publicly made between a man and a woman, and God for the purpose of founding and maintaining a family.

B. Of vital interest to God. He instituted it in (Genesis 1:26-28); (2:18-25).

C. It is intended to be a life-long union that can only be dissolved by death or unfaithfulness (Romans 7:2-3). (Matthew 19:6) says, "Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder".

(4) WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HUSBAND AND WIFE?

A. Husband:
1. He must acknowledge and confess Jesus Christ as Lord of his life.
2. He must accept that God has ordained that he be the priest and head of his household (Ephesians 6:1-2), and that he himself is under headship
(I Corinthians 11:3).
3. He must recognize that his wife was created by God to be his help-meet; not help-mate (Genesis 2:18).

4. He must recognize that his wife is of like nature and substance
Genesis 2:23).

5. He must leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife.

6. He must recognize that he and his wife are one, even as Christ and the Church are one:
(a) Adam (Genesis 2:23).
(b) Jesus (Matthew 19:4-6). (c) Paul (Ephesians 5:30-31).

7. He must love his wife as Christ loved the Church (Ephesians 5:2,25-31).

8. He must sacrifice for his wife; give himself even as Christ gave Himself for the Church (Ephesians 5:25).

9. He must nourish ("to promote health and strength") his wife
(Ephesians 5:29).

10. He must cherish ("to impart warmth, foster, care for") his wife
(Ephesians 5:29).
11. Respect and honor (I Peter 3:7).
12. Live in harmony (Unity) (I Peter 3:8).

13. Have compassion (I Peter 3:8).

14. Love as a human being (I Peter 3:8).

15. Be sympathetic (I Peter 3:8).
16. Be courteous (I Peter 3:8).

17. Not retaliating (I Peter 3:9).
18. Not be abusive with his tongue (I Peter 3:10).

B. Wife

1. She must know area of responsibility. Husband and wife are equal as persons, but not equal in responsibility.
2. Must accept responsibility in the right attitude. The woman is not inferior to man; not competing with man. Husband and wife are equal in importance, but not equal in position.

3. She must have a submissive spirit (Hebrew meaning: "to come under the protection of another"), (Ephesians 5:22-24); (Colossians 3:18); (I Peter 3:1-6).
4. She must have a quiet and meek spirit (I Peter 3:1-6).
5. Modest and Godly (I Timothy 3:9-10).

6. Recognize that she and her husband are heirs together of the Grace of life (I Peter 3:7).
7. The wife is the help-meet; the complement to her husband (Genesis 2:18).
8. Love her husband and children (Titus 2:4).
9. Avoid the sin of nagging (Proverbs 19:13); (21:9); (27:15).

A marriage must pivot around the will of God and the purpose of God for their lives. When a couple is married, they begin the adventure of "oneness". It can only be encountered as they both love God and one another. They must serve Him. They cannot follow two independent courses of action.

(5) WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT CHILDREN?

A. They are the heritage of the Lord (Psalms 127:35).

B. They are the reward of the Lord (Psalms 127:3); (Genesis 33:5); (Psalms 113:9).

C. They are highly esteemed by God (Psalms 127:4-5) (128:3); (Matthew 19:14).
D. They are a crown (Proverbs 17:6).

(6) WHAT ARE THE SCRIPTURAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARENTS?

A. They must bring their children to Jesus Christ (Matthew 19:13-14); (Mark 10:13).
B. Parents must:
1. Love God 2. Study His Word. 3. Teach His children to do the same (Deuteronomy 6:5-7).
C. Parents must administer Correction when needed:

1. Correction is an act of love (Proverbs 13:24).
2. Correction will drive out foolishness (Proverbs 22:15):
(a) Foolishness, if not corrected, will produce pride (Proverbs 14:3).
(b) Foolishness and Pride yield:

(1) Contention (Proverbs 13:10).

 PRINCIPLES OF KINGDOM LIVING
LESSON 12
COMMUNION: THE COVENANT MEAL

By Dr. George Watkins

IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME

Communion is a vital aspect of life within the with a great deal of formality, but having no real significance. It is an act through which we "remember the work of the Lord Jesus Christ" (I Corinthians 11:24-26). Many have observed this act with little or no knowledge of its Scriptural significance. In this lesson, we will trace the history of the Covenant Meal and thus, show its importance to each believer.

(1) WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THE WORD "COMMUNION"?
The word means "act of sharing, communication, unity, concord, agreement, joint participation".

(2) WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OF THE COMMUNION MEAL?
A. The Old Testament records that God gave Israel a command to observe three feasts during the year. "The Passover" was the first feast of the year. This feast served as a reminder to Israel of their deliverance, by God, from Egyptian bondage. The feast centered around the blood and body of a lamb. (See Exodus 12).

B. Jesus kept this same feast with His disciples on the eve of His Crucifixion. (Matthew 26:26-28); (Mark 14:22-24); (Luke 22:17-20).

C. Jesus transformed this last Passover Feast into the "communion meal" which the church celebrates today.

D. Jesus Christ's body and blood was the fulfillment
of the Passover Lamb.
1. Jesus is called the "Lamb of God" (John 1:29). 2. Christ called "our Passover" (I Corinthians 5:7). 3. Christ called the "lamb without spot or blemish (I Peter 1:19).

E. Paul received a distinct revelation concerning the covenant meal. (I Corinthians 11:23).

(3) WHAT DO THE ELEMENTS OF COMMUNION REPRESENT? A. The Bread 1. Jesus' body, which He allowed to be broken or us. (Luke 22:19); (John 15:13)(I John 3:16); (Isaiah 53:4-6)

2. The body of Christ as the Church Universal of which each believer is a part.
(I Corinthians 10:16-17); (I Corinthians 12:12-13) 3. By partaking of the bread, we acknowledge participation in the
sacrifice of the cross (I Corinthians 10:18); (Galatians 2:20);
(Romans 6:6,11); (Galatians 5:24); (6:14); (Ephesians 2:16).

4. Bread literally means "loaf". A loaf is risen or leavened, bread. (a) Leaven is a substance used to raise something. (b) Unleavened bread will never rise; it is tasteless; it has no life. (c) The bread Jesus partook of was leavened bread (Young's) (Mark 14:22- 28); (Matthew 26:26-32). (d) Jesus is referred to as the "Bread of Life", able to give eternal life. (John 6:32-35); (48-51,53,58)
Only risen, or leavened, bread has life and taste. This is why we use leavened bread when we partake of Communion. It represents the risen Christ and the life eternal we have through Him!

B. The Wine 1. Christ's Blood (a) Of the New Covenant (Matthew 26:28); (Hebrew 9:11-14). (b) Shed on behalf of many (Matthews 26:28); (20:28).
(c) For forgiveness of sins (Matthew 26:28); (Hebrews 9:22); (Romans 5:9); (I John 1:7); (Ephesians 1:7).

2. It can also be representative of the Holy Spirit, who gives us life: (a) The life of the body is in the blood (Leviticus 17:11,14).
(b) When we drink the cup, we share in the blood of Christ. (I Corinthians 10:16).

(c) We are all made to drink of one spirit (I Corinthians 12:13).

3. The blood has a voice (Genesis 4:10).
(a) For the children of Israel, as they smeared it on their doorposts, it brought them out of Egyptian bondage (Exodus 12:21-23).
(b) For the believer today, it speaks of better things (Hebrews 12:24). It provides freedom from sin, sickness and disease.

(4) As we partake of the cup in Communion, we drink a cup of blessing. (I Corinthians 10:16).

(5) HOW ARE WE TO RECEIVE COMMUNION?

A. As A Believer: Because it shows a sharing in the body and blood of the Lord, the communicant must have experientially received the atoning work of Christ in His Life (must be "born-again").

B. One must not partake in an unworthy manner, and must: 1. Examine (or prove) himself (I Corinthians 11:28).
2. Properly discern what the supper represents and be living a life consistent with what it represents (I Corinthians 11:29).

C. Consequences of receiving unworthily:
1. Guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord (I Corinthians 11:27). 2. Eats and drinks judgement upon himself (I Corinthians 11:29). 3. Will reap weakness and sickness (I Corinthians 11:30). 4. Sleep (literally, "death") (I Corinthians 11:30).

Communion is an outward sign that the communicant has, or is, appropriating into his life, that which the elements represent. By partaking in the Communion service, he is professing his association with the sacrifice of Christ. Therefore, he must be presently sharing in that sacrifice.

The communicant must:
1. Be presenting his body as a “living sacrifice” (Romans 12:1).
2. Die to self daily (I Corinthians 15:31); (Romans 8:36).
3. “Lose” his life (Matthew 16:25).
4. Suffer for the Gospel (II Timothy 1:8).
