Sony is following in Nintendo’s footsteps and bringing back its original PlayStation console nearly 25 years after its initial release as a miniature gaming device called the PlayStation Classic, the company announced today.

The device will cost $99.99 ( €99.99 / 9,980 yen) and, similar to Nintendo’s NES and SNES Classic consoles, will come pre-loaded with 20 “genre-defining” titles, including Final Fantasy VII, Tekken 3, and Ridge Racer Type 4. The device will launch on December 3rd.

Sony’s PlayStation 4-powered virtual reality headset, Project Morpheus, has new specs and a slightly different look (seen above). Okay, it doesn’t look that different. What’s new? For one, the screen resolution is improved: it’s now 1,920 x RGB x 1,080. The refresh rate is doubled from last year at 120Hz, and the new 5.7-inch screen also has a higher field of view (nearly 100 degrees). Oh right! It’s got a new, bigger screen at 5.7 inches! But you already guessed that. Further upping the spec

The recent Hollywood influx of successful faith-based films has paved the way for Christian filmmakers, producers and executives to get a seat at the table.

Among the latest beneficiaries is 36-year-old preacher and movie executive DeVon Franklin, who has inked a first-look production deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment.

EEW Magazine sources have confirmed reports that the faith-based film enthusiast is leaving his post as Senior Vice President of Production for Columbi

Sony Xperia Z Ultra review the best phone you'll probably never buy

What we’re about to describe is the same kind of phenomenon we experienced with 5-inch phones in 2010. If you recall, that year marked the debut of the Dell Streak 5, an absolutely massive smartphone / tablet hybrid for that time. Fast-forward to 2013, when 5-inch screens are the norm and 6.44-inch displays are now considered too unwieldy. Such is the case with the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, which borrows many traits from the smaller Xperia Z while taking on a flatter shape. Basically, Sony turned th

Ever since Sony’s PS4 announcement, we’ve all been chomping at the bit to get a look at the new hardware. At its initial press conference back in March, the company pulled he curtain back on the console’s new touchscreen controller, but left us in the dark on what the console itself would look like.

E3-2013-banner

Day zero of E3 2013 is over, and there’s really no contest: Sony stepped up and delivered on every possible angle. The games look stunning, the tech promises great things, the current-gen support continues to cruise along, and – most vitally – the all-important questions surrounding used games, always-on requirements, and price point have been answered.

Microsoft should be very, very worried. “Greatness awaits” indeed.

Sony delivered a monster opening salvo in February 2013 with its reve

Crash Bandicoot comes to the Xperia S

Can Sony revive its mobile brand by going it alone?

The Sony PlayStation Store app has now been added to the new Sony Xperia S smartphone, a week after it went on sale in the UK.

The 4.3-inch, 12-megapixel Android 2.3 device, the first since Sony bought out Ericsson, hit shelves on March 6th, but with a placeholder for the forthcoming PS Store experience.

Now Sony has added the finishing touches, users can download the store and another PS

PlayStation Vita back

A purportedly leaked Blockbuster UK flyer pegs Sony's PlayStation Vita -- both the 3G and non-3G versions -- for an October 28 release.

Sony has already stated clearly that the plan is to launch the PlayStation Vita this year. Two big questions remain though: where and when? Popular opinion puts the initial launch in Japan, since the hardware maker’s country of origin is also where the PlayStation Portable kicked off the previous generation of handheld gaming devices. Other rumors have point

Someone's been a little bit cheeky and let the PlayStation Phone further out of the bag, with a video demonstrating the upcoming Sony Ericsson device running Rage Racer and Resident Evil 2.

Known as the Xperia Play, the mobile phone runs an Android operating system and includes an application that is said to run PSP games using the sliding controls seen below. Obvious cues have been taken from the PSP Go, with the curious addition of what appears to be a touch pad in the middle. Unfortunately thi
