One of the things that really excites me about 1 Timithy in the Bible
is that Paul is writing a letter to Timothy and, in this letter, he's really given some instructions of what does it look like to have godly character right? What does godly character for a leader really look like, and another thing that I really like about this book, is that I also think that paul does a really good job of connecting these godly characteristics with the gospel message and really pointing out and showing us th

Daily Devotional: NEVER FEAR

by Dudley Anderson

Psalm 56:3
But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in You.

One summer night during a severe thunderstorm a mother was tucking her small son into bed. She was about to turn the light off when he asked in a trembling voice, "Mommy, will you please sleep in my room with me all night?" Smiling, the mother gave him a warm hug and said, "I can't dear. I have to sleep in Daddy's room." After a long silence, a shaky little voice said, "The big sissy!"

Fears and phobias are some

Daily Devotional: Forgive Them

by Ken Barnes

They went on stoning Stephen as he called on the Lord and said, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!” Then falling on his knees, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them!” Having said this, he fell asleep.”  (Acts 7:59-60 NASB)

Stephen prayed this prayer just as Jesus had done on the Cross.  These may be two of the most powerful and purest requests ever made of God.

A prayer of forgiveness is always against human nature.  It is normal to want to give

Daily Devotional: The Grouch

by PamFord Davis

‘You made my day!’

I want to have a sweet spirit.

Nobody wants to be around a grouch.

Sesame Street’s Oscar the Grouch is a well known fictional character.

I wonder if the creator had someone in mind.

Did he search the Scriptures?

Was Nabal on his mind?

David’s men made a reasonable request. The grouch refused.

“When David’s young men came, they spoke to Nabal in accordance with all these words in David’s name; then they waited. But Nabal answered David’s s

Daily Devotional: Rain Showers

by PamFord Davis

I’m tired of the rain. To be more specific, I’m tired of walking through the mud in our front yard. The same rain has led to flash flood watches and warnings in our area. Yet, showers are a blessing.

“I will make them and the places all around My hill a blessing; and I will cause showers to come down in their season; there shall be showers of blessing. Then the trees of the field shall yield their fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase. They shall be safe in their la

Competition: The Heart Of A Man

by James Barringer

Orlando, as a city, thrives on tourists. I heard recently that Orlando and its surrounding areas (Disney World, etc) hosted 25 million tourists last year - which is about twelve tourists for every one person who actually lives here. What this means is that, during the summer when all the tourists come, it's basically impossible to walk without bumping into an out-of-towner. It also means that, during the winter when all the tourists are back at home, the businesses which t

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength."

“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up."

One of the ways you can make ordinary life extraordinary is learning to do everything you do with God and for God. Educate your children in faith in God. May your marriage glorify God. May your attitude glorify God. Let God into whatever you do. God believes in you, He has hope for you. He has a plan for each of you. And no matter how many times you've messed it up, God is willing to give you another chance and another chance, and another chance. If you take your relationship with Him seriously
