Beyonce Posts Letter about Alton Sterling and Philando Castile Shooting Deaths

Beyoncé is speaking out in the wake of the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. 

The singer’s official website now displays a statement mourning “these robberies of lives” and urging readers to contact their local politicians.

“We all have the power to channel our anger and frustration into action,” the call to action reads. “We must use our voices to contact the politicians and legislators in our districts and demand social and judicial changes.”

Beyonce gave a resplendent rendition of “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” at the Grammys but it was Ledisi who gave the song revived attention with her performance of it for “Selma.”

Ledisi plays Mahalia Jackson in the Oscar-nominated film and sings the song on the movie‘s soundtrack, so some of her fans expressed anger on social media that she was not asked to perform on the Grammys. Solange, Beyoncé and Jay Z have yet to release a statement regarding the footage TMZ obtained of what appears to be Solange attacking Jay Z in an elevator at the Standard Hotel in New York City.

However, Solange’s actions are speaking louder than her words.

Monday afternoon Solange deleted nearly all pictures of Beyoncé from her personal Instagram account, including a photo of the sisters from the night of the Met Gala.
