The Cleveland Guardians name will officially be adopted starting next season.

The Cleveland Indians are changing their name next season to the Cleveland Guardians, the Major League Baseball club announced Friday morning, after the current moniker drew criticism for decades from Native Americans.

The New York Mets signed former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow to a minor league contract on Thursday, the team announced on Twitter.

The New York Yankees announced Sunday that Alex Rodriguez will play his final game Friday, then assume a position as a special adviser and instructor with the team.
