After months of little to no communication, the Dallas Cowboys met with the agent of Dak Prescott on Wednesday. Despite it being a positive sign in contract talks, Jerry Jones opened up about the details of the meeting with Prescott’s agent.

“DON’T MAKE ANYTHING OF THAT, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER,” COWBOYS OWNER JERRY JONES SAID THURSDAY, VIA MICHAEL GEHLKEN OF THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS. “THAT’S NOT WHAT COUNTS. [WHAT COUNTS IS] WHEN YOU DECIDE IT’S TIME TO MAKE IT WORK.”

On Thursday, all 32 teams in the NFL were able to begin utilizing their franchise tags. For the Cowboys, they would ideally like to get a long-term deal in place with Prescott. However, if they can’t get a deal done ahead of the franchise-tag deadline on March 12, it’s likely that they use the tag on Prescott.
