At least seven Minneapolis police officers have quit and another seven are in the process of resigning, citing a lack of support from department and city leaders as protests over George Floyd’s death escalated.
Current and former officers told The Minneapolis Star Tribune that officers are upset with Mayor Jacob Frey’s decision to abandon the Third Precinct station during the protests. Demonstrators set the building on fire after officers left.
Protesters also hurled bricks and insults at officers. Numerous officers and protesters have been injured.

Lecrae Devaughn Moore — better known simply as Lecrae — has always valued his independence. The Atlanta-based hip-hop recording artist and producer — who says “I am a hip-hop artist who happens to be Christian, believes in God, and follows the teachings of Jesus,” although he prefers not to be called a “Christian rapper”” — co-founded his independent record label, Reach Records, when he began dropping solo albums with 2004’s “Real Talk.” He maintained that autonomy up through 2014, when he teamed Reach with Columbia and released “Anomaly,” which debuted at No. 1 on the pop and gospel charts, making him the first artist to accomplish those twin feats.

Social media users powered the name of Oluwatoyin “Toyin” Salau to become a top trending topic Monday morning as thousands of tweets were mourning the life of the young Black Lives Matter activist reportedly found dead in Florida over the weekend. Salau, 19, was last seen in Tallahassee on June 6 before unconfirmed social media reports of her death emerged more than a week later.
