Andy Mineo revealed the new project to fans via social media, in which he openly shared — “I’m unsure when I began to feel stuck in this cloud or when it will end, but I know there are others who feel the same. This is for you.”
Throughout the 6-track EP, Andy Mineo candidly explores the benefit of doubt, disillusionment, love, loss, and what it means to navigate an ever-changing world as a person of faith. Read More Here
I give my initial thoughts on Andy Mineo's ep "The Arrow"
As Dr. Cliff Huxtable, Cosby starred in a top-rated network sitcom about a loving, successful black couple and their wholesome children. “The Cosby Show” shifted the paradigm for millions of viewers for what a black family could look like. And it made Cosby an idol to many African-Americans in an era long before the country would see a black family living in the White House.
All of which explains why the comedian’s downfall Thursday was met with particular pain, disappointment and conflicted feelings in the black community. For many black people, news of Cosby’s sexual-assault conviction was hard to hear, even for fans who believed his accusers.
“We have been split from Day One about his innocence because of our need to have a hero that looks like us,” said Tarana Burke, the black woman who created the #MeToo hashtag in 2006 and recalled growing up listening to albums of Cosby’s comedy routines and later watching him as “America’s Dad.”
She warned against confusing Cosby with the roles he played.
“I don’t subscribe the term and concept of God fearing. That’s a dated mentality that was used to control people,” West tweeted over the weekend. “We are in the future. If God is love and love it’s the opposite of fear then … to fear God makes no sense.”
After receiving floods of support from some of his 18.8 million followers on the social media platform, Minor decided to tweet West back and help bring clarity to his confusion.
“Fear in the idea of viewing God as the big bad villain in the sky that will destroy isn’t a Christian concept at all,” the Christian hip-hop artist explained.
The Cleveland Browns took Heisman Trophy winner and Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield with the first pick of the NFL Draft on Thursday night as controversy swelled around Josh Allen, the Wyoming quarterback who admitted to writing tweets with racial epithets as a high schooler in 2013.
The New York Giants took Penn State running back Saquon Barkley with the second pick, while USC quarterback Sam Darnold went third to the New York Jets, the Browns took Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward with the fourth pick, and North Carolina State defensive end Bradley Chubb went fifth overall to the Denver Broncos. Female rapper, writer, preacher and poet Jackie Hill Perry is gearing up to release a new album, Crescendo, which is being pegged as a “fearless” record showing both strength and sensitivity.
The 14-piece collection released by Humble Beast, Fair Trade Services is set to reveal Perry’s personal, spiritual and artistic journey to this point. Crescendo will highlight the St. Louis native’s sense of brokenness in which she entrusted to God’s care.
Perry, 28, wasn’t always a Christian. After years of living a promiscuous lifestyle she gave her life to Jesus in 2008, and her religious beliefs prompted her to denounce her attraction to women. Perry’s website states that she was “saved from a lifestyle of homosexual sin.” Read More Here
1. Cleveland Browns
Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma
Why they did it: The Browns needed to use this pick on a quarterback, and the one they decided fits best is Mayfield. He’s small (6 feet, 5/8 inches), but he’s competitive and accurate. He plays with swagger, perhaps to the extreme, but he also completed 69.8 percent of his passes during his final season. He left Oklahoma as the Big 12 all-time leader in yards per attempt and consecutive games with a touchdown pass. He is the guy general manager John Dorsey and the Browns are committing their future too.
Biggest question: Mayfield bristles at comparisons to Johnny Manziel, and he and Manziel are different players on the field. But like Manziel, Mayfield is not ideal NFL quarterback size, and he has had off-field issues. The Browns must love his ability because they have shrugged off an arrest and actions on the field that some teams would not accept. Teams generally don’t like risks with the first overall pick; this pick involves a fair amount of risk. -- Pat McManamon Read More Here
