Robert Griffin III isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, and the alleged tension over him within the Washington Redskins organization is overstated, according to a new report.
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that Washington has no plans to shop or trade Griffin before the November 3 trade deadline. According to La Canfora’s sources, general manager Scot McCloughan hasn’t even thought about trading the fourth year quarterback, and team management doesn’t view him as a source of problems within the organization.
Contrary to another recent report, La Canfora cites numerous team sources telling him there is no tension between Griffin and current starter Kirk Cousins, and that the two appear to have a perfectly good working relationship. La Canfora also reports that Griffin has been a good teammate following his demotion and has handled scout team duties without complaint. Not only that, but Griffin has appeared in good spirits on the sidelines during games, supporting and actively engaging his teammates. La Canfora characterizes Griffin’s tenure as Washington’s third string quarterback as “more drama-free than expected,” and goes on to note that the locker room is also not a problem spot for the first time in a long time. It’s even stated that Griffin could displace Colt McCoy as the backup on the depth chart in the weeks to come.
