Two of Christian hip-hop’s favorite public figures won at the 2015 BET Awards, which took place on June 28 in Los Angeles. Lecrae won Best Gospel Artist and Stephen Curry won Sportsman of the Year.

Lecrae is the first rapper to win in the Best Gospel Artist category. He beat out Mali Music, Erica Campbell, Deitrick Haddon, Fred Hammond, and Michelle Williams for the award.

Curry won his award over Chris Paul, Floyd Mayweather Jr., LeBron James, and Marshawn Lynch.

Jam The Hype talked to Stephen Curry about his relationship with Crae on March 13, 2015. They are on a mission to impact the world for Christ.

On May 11 of 2015, details on Lecrae’s upcoming book and album were revealed. He signed a book deal with B&H Publishing Group and will drop his next major album in 2016.

Congrats to Lecrae and Stephen Curry!

Do you think the BET Awards should include Lecrae in a hip-hop category next year?
