As Americans all across the nation are in a state of frenzy over the year's most anticipated shopping day, one man believes Christians should be different and not fall prey to the mania of Black Friday.

Aiden Enns, co-founder of Buy Nothing Christmas and guest columnist for The Washington Post, explained his stance in an article titled, "Why Christians Should Resist Black Friday."
In the piece, Enns, a man of faith and "one inspired by the teachings of Jesus," cited his own reasons for abstaining from the shops this weekend and also provided seven reasons for believers to resist as well.
"Retail products occupy too much space in our homes and hearts," he shared on the Post.
"To me, Black Friday is essentially our version of a religious pilgrimage. We worship in mega stores, make schedules around holiday deals, display allegiance to brands and low prices, offer tithes to the cashiers."
It's not that there's something more important than the economy, it's that the economy needs to be re-fashioned, the founder and editor of Geez magazine continued.
"Jesus acknowledged wealth and power and sought to undermine it. By resisting the impulse to shop for deals on Black Friday we stand at the feet of the retail titans and, with the power of non-cooperation, we challenge the injustices of poor labor conditions, exploitative hiring practices, unfair monopolies, and irresponsible resource extraction."
Referencing the pioneer of civil disobedience, Enns relayed that Jesus was "like Gandhi before Gandhi was Gandhi."

U.S. soldiers assigned to Camp Marmal in northern Afghanistan said the removal of a cross from an Army chapel has created a "huge controversy" and at least one soldier called it a "direct attack against Christianity and Judaism."

A Pentagon spokesman told Fox News & Commentary that the cross was removed after someone complained. He also said the cross violated Army regulations.
"Military chapels have to be open to all denominations and as such can't have permanent symbols of one particular religion or another," said Commander Williams Speaks.
The chapel is used for general Protestant services and a Baptist church service. There is a smaller chapel used for other services. The camp also has a mosque and a German chapel that is used for Catholic services.
Speaks said the cross was erected about a month ago - but when questions were raised the Army unit's chaplain consulted the rules and "realized that taking it down was the appropriate thing to do."
Army Regulation 165-1, 12-3k states:"The chapel environment will be religiously neutral when the facility is not being used for scheduled worship. Portable religious symbols, icons, or statues may be used within a chapel during times of religious worship."
"Symbols are to be moved or covered when not in use during services. Distinctive religious symbols, such as crosses, crucifixes, the Star of David, Menorah, and other religious symbols will not be affixed or displayed permanently on the chapel interior, exterior, or grounds. Permanent or fixed chapel furnishings, such as the altar, pulpit, lectern, or communion rail will be devoid of distinctive religious symbols."
A soldier stationed at Camp Marmal contacted Fox News & Commentary and said soldiers are very upset that the cross was removed.
"My personal feeling is that it is a direct attack against Christianity and Judaism," said the soldier who asked not to be identified. "When you look at the regulation and you notice the four items directly quoted are crosses, crucifixes, the Star of David and the Menorah."

Regardless of what experience you have organizing your personal finances, it's important to have a straightforward system to help. Take a look at these great tips to organize your bills and personal finances.

1. Take paper out of the equation.

Today, almost every bill you have can be paid online which means everything can be handled digitally. It may seem like a bit of a challenge at first, but it makes managing your personal finances a lot easier to do down the line.

The concept of going paperless may be a bit confusing. All it really means is instead of getting your bills through the mail you'll go to the websites of your service providers and set up online accounts. Once you do, you will be given the option of going completely paper free, which means your service providers will stop sending you paper statements, bills and promotional offers that you're used to seeing in your mailbox. You'll receive email alerts when your bill is due and can pay your bill on their website instead of writing a check and mailing it in. When it comes to your household and financial accounts, you'll never have to lick a stamp or seal an envelope again.

The two major reasons to pay your bills online and go paperless are:

A. You'll help protect the environment by reducing your use of paper.
B. You can reduce the clutter of paper in your house and help save your sanity.

Not only does getting rid of the stacks of paper they send each month going to relieve a lot of stress but it helps to save the environment as well.

2. Pick an organizational system that fits your needs.

When it comes to organizing your personal finances, one size does not fit all. Even though many believe that paying your bills online is the only way to go, that's only the first part of this four-step process. Even though you have all of your accounts set up electronically, you'll still have to find a way to make sure they're all in one place. Otherwise, you will have to go from site to site, and with that many usernames and passwords, you are bound to forget a few.

There are two different ways to go about doing this. First, you can purchase bill-organizing software, such as Moneydance and Family Finance Planner. These packages give you the ability to manage bills and organize your personal finances from one program. You can pay your bills, view important account documents, and receive alerts when important due dates are approaching. Many packages available will also give you the ability to create a budget and will help you to stay within it by letting you know if you're exceeding it or if you've got funds left.

If purchasing financial software doesn't appeal to you, you can do what many do and create a financial spreadsheet using Microsoft Excel. It's a bit more complicated, as it requires more manual labor, but like with most tasks that's been mentioned here, it will pay off in the long run. There is no law that says financial spreadsheets have to be the same, so create one that represents your financial life. Note which bills you have to pay, how much they are for and when they are due. Subtract your monthly finances from your monthly income so you know how much money you have to spend each month. Once the bill is paid, mark it paid in the spreadsheet so you'll have the peace of mind that it's been taken care of until next month.

3. Think about the future.

Planning for your financial future plays a big part in organizing your personal finances now. Unfortunately, life isn't predictable and putting together a financial plan for the future so you can handle anything that can happen which means it's important to set financial goals for your future.

Setting up a savings account for emergencies is a great start. Putting back six to nine months of living expenses gives you money to use should something happen. This money should be used for emergencies only, hence the name "emergency savings account," such as paying for rent and utilities after losing your job.

Setting up a retirement savings account is another great way to plan for your future. Your employer may offer access to a 401(k) which is a good example of a retirement account. Every time you get a paycheck, you can contribute a portion of it to this fund. These accounts are designed for your employer to match your whole contribution or at least a part of it.

Retirement funds like these can give you the future you want, whether it's sailing a way to Bora-Bora or simply being able to do the basic things we enjoy like going to the movies and taking yearly vacations after you retire.

4. Don't stress.

The old quote "There ain't no stress like money stress, but you can only worry so much.", basically means, don't go crazy worrying about your finances. Worry enough, and then let it go. Using these steps, create a budget and implementing the financial bill organizer that works for you. Then, just enjoy your life!

You can make your financial side of life simpler by using a few simple and easy steps to manage and organize your bills online. With an onlinebill organizer, account manager, statement storage and more, Manilla can help you become financially organized and never miss another payment.

Tim Tebow is a godly man and a good football player. There is no question about his character, the importance of his faith, and his development as a player in the NFL.

But the young Denver Broncos quarterback has become a controversial figure because of the very public displays of his faith. For example, he has been recently mocked for his bended-knee prayers during games, which is now officially known as "Tebowing." But has he inadvertently brought this criticism on himself? Is praying publicly between plays what it really means to "be a Christian" in pro football?
Jesus said to his disciples, "I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves" (Matthew 10:16). One has to wonder if Tebow's actions are a shrewd way to be a Christian in sports.
In a discussion about this on my Facebook wall someone asked, "How many Christians have you seen get down on one knee and pray at work? If he really wanted to live out his faith, he'd do his job well and love those he works with." Is there a difference, then, between living one's faith and acting it out in public? How many surgeons who are Christians get on their knees and pray in the operating room? How many Christians who are public school teachers get on their knees and pray at the beginning of each class? Or a mechanic? Or a bus driver? Is what Tim Tebow is doing even necessary?

Rapper Ja Rule  stars in a faith-based film "I'm in Love with a Church Girl" about an ex-convict who is now a pastor.

Rapper Ja Rule stars in "I'm in Love with a Church Girl," a film written by San Jose, Calif., pastor Galley Molina, an ex-convict.

The movie also stars popular actress and musician Adrienne Bailon (member of the now disbanded Cheetah Girls), born-again Christian Stephen Baldwin and renowned music artist TobyMac.

"I'm in Love with a Church Girl," a straight-to-DVD-to-BET movie, was written by Pastor Galley Molina himself while still in his prison cell. He tells the story of how he was at the top of a major drug trafficking ring in the mid-1990s and how he turned his life around after someone engages him to rethink about his faith.

He is now the youth pastor at Evergreen Valley Church in San Jose, Calif.

09137.jpgOn Martin Bashir's television program this afternoon, Democratic strategist and MSNBC analyst Karen Finney said that Republicans are supporting Herman Cain because of his race:

"One of the things about Herman Cain is, I think that he makes that white Republican base of the party feel okay, feel like they are not racist because they can like this guy," Finney said. "I think he giving that base a free pass. And I think they like him because they think he's a black man who knows his place. I know that's harsh, but that's how it sure seems to me."
"Thank you for spelling that out," Bashir responded.
This isn't the first time liberals have made this kind of charge about Cain and his supporters. During an online production of NBC's Meet the Press this week, Democratic congressman Elijah Cummings of Maryland said white voters support Cain to show they aren't racist.
