Kanye-West-explains-Jesus-impersonator-on-Yeezus-Tour425x300.jpg
Kanye West's actions get him called everything from crazy to the anti-Christ. But the controversial and sometimes volatile rapper claims he is a Christian, attempting to introduce Jesus Christ to others.
In an interview with WILD 94.9, the G.O.O.D Music artist, who is now engaged to reality TV star Kim Kardashian, explained his logic for bringing out a Jesus impersonator on stage on his Yeezus tour.
"I had a friend of mine that's a pastor there as we started discussing how we wanted to deliver it," said West, in response to the interviewer's observation that even some of West's die-hard fans were confused about the seemingly bizarre skit.
West admitted, "My girl even asked afterward, 'Hmmm, is that weird if Jesus comes on stage or something like that?'"
His response?
"Then [I'm like], 'No, we do plays all the time when people play Jesus.'"
According West, the liberty to do such a thing is a part of the unique faith expression of those who purport to be followers of the Son of God.
"You know what's awesome about Christianity is that, we're allowed to portray God. We're allowed to, you know, draw an image of Him. We're allowed to make movies about Him," he said. "[In] other religions, you're not allowed to do that. So that's what's really awesome about Christianity. That's one of the awesome things."
