"American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks has just landed another movie role. This time she will be starring in the updated version of "Left Behind" alongside award winning actor Nicholas Cage and Chad Michael Murray. Sparks announced the exciting news herself via Twitter on Aug. 9 and she sounds quite thrilled to be a part of it.

The movie is based on the Christian book series by Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye. It was written about the end times as people seem to disappear suddenly, which is due to the rapture that the Bible talks about. Kirk Cameron starred in the original movie back in 2001. Cloud Ten founder Paul Lalonde will once again be at the helm producing this dramatic film as he was the first time around.

Sparks is set to play the role of Shasta, one of the passengers on the plane during the drastic event. Her last movie role she had was with the late Whitney Houston in "Sparkle." Filming has just started in Baton Rouge, La. Disney's Ashley Tisdale, was on tap to play the role of Chloe Steele. However, she had to back out because of scheduling conflicts.

It looks like Jordin Sparks has quite the acting career going, as well as her music. She is also spending time with her singer boyfriend, Jason Derulo, in between her projects.
