It has been a difficult season for some of the more high profile Christian leaders over the past few years. Scandal has knocked once again--this time, at the door of popular Evangelist Juanita Bynum, who was arrested and jailed in Georgia.
A business deal gone bad, has turned into an embarrassing legal spectacle.
Dallas News is reporting a story, first broken by Obnoxious TV, that at approximately 10:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, Bynum was booked for failure to honor a 2007 judgment ordering her to pay $140,000 to a company called ALW Entertainment.
The civil suit was filed by ALW CEO, Al Wash, who paid the televangelist a handsome sum to star in a stage play, but she flaked on the deal.
Walsh sued the well-known leader and won.
According to Obnoxious TV, Bynum "failed to make those payments and failed to appear before the court; therefore, a warrant was issued for her arrest."
Bynum was locked up on the same night she was scheduled to deliver a sermon at the 9th Annual Spring Prophetic Conference hosted by Pastor Mwaka Twagirayesu for Fresh Aroma International Ministries.
Bynum was advertised as the featured speaker for both Thursday April 18 and Friday, April 19.
Due to her arrest, she spent the night in the Lew Sterrett Justice Center for failure to appear during a Dallas civil proceeding.
