For years, I filled journals with words of things that had hurt and harmed me. Then I carried them--literally--with me when I moved to new places. The LORD finally showed me to trash them--literally--and that promoted my healing and freedom!
It's been a process, but just that act of throwing the "it is written" acts that others (the devil through them) had done to me and against me, was a physical and a spirtual act; the burden started lifting.
I also started pressing in to worship the LORD more, and spend more time in the Word. So both getting rid of the past and embracing the new (but timeless, eternal, and unchanging!) Word of God was a powerful step in my freedom.
I foundens Interest truly Good News, in such verses as these, from Hebrews 10:10 and 18-23:
10 And in accordance with this will [of God], we have been made holy (consecrated and sanctified) through the offering made once for all of the body of Jesus Christ (the Anointed One).
18 Now where there is absolute remission (forgiveness and cancellation of the penalty) of these [sins and lawbreaking], there is no longer any offering made to atone for sin. 19 Therefore, brethren, since we have full freedom and confidence to enter into the [Holy of] Holies [by the power and virtue] in the blood of Jesus 20 By this fresh (new) and living way which He initiated and dedicated and opened for us through the separating curtain (veil of the Holy of Holies), that is, through His flesh,
21 And since we have [such] a great and wonderful and noble Priest [Who rules] over the house of God, 22 Let us all come forward and draw near with true (honest and sincere) hearts in unqualified assurance and absolute conviction engendered by faith (by that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness), having our hearts sprinkled and purified from a guilty (evil) conscience and our bodies cleansed with pure water. 23 So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word.--Hebrews 10:10, 18-23
So lift up your head. No matter what you've experience that was not from Him--and no matter what you did to sin, Hallelujah!--you can repent, and also choose to forgive those who hurt you, while also asking the LORD to forgive them and draw them closer to Himself. This is another powerful way to promote healing within your life--to pray for others, especially those who have hurt you.
So trash those written records of hurt and harm. Stop giving the devil glory!
Keep instead a Book of Remembrance (Malachi 3:16), like the LORD does! Keep a journal (which my husband and I do, and read to each other on occasion) of the many good things the LORD has done and is doing for you! The pages will fill quickly!
Truly, how blessed we are to be children of God (John 1:12), and to experience His goodness 24/7--for truly, it is He that keeps us, even as we sleep! We are blessed and eternally, faithfully loved by the LORD God Almighty (I John 4:8)!
So let the hurt go--He will help you, and in fact, you cannot do it yourself!--and let the love of God in! Hallelujah! Trade the trash for triumph!
