Daily Devotional: A Love Unlike Any Other | 2 John 1:6 |

Do you remember the first time you thought you were in love? Maybe it was the boy who stole your crayons in kindergarten, or maybe it was the girl who sat next to you in biology lab. Your parents probably smiled and used the term “puppy love''. I'm sure you've learned a thing or two about love since then. let's be honest, it's possible to feel all different kinds of love for all sorts of people in our lives.

When it comes to loving and being loved by God, however, The Bible tells us that that kind of love is unlike anything else we have ever experienced. The author of 2 John tries to explain what God's love looks like lived out. in 2 John christians found themselves being tortured and put to death for their faith, so the 13 verses that make up the entire book of 2 John are meant to be an encouragement and a reminder. love for god does not depend on emotions.

It's a good thing too, because we all know how often easily and quickly emotions can change. God-centered love is genuine and consistent and we are invited to show that same love by living as jesus did. 2 John 1:6

And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.

And what does Jesus say is the greatest commandment? That we should love God and then love our neighbor as ourselves. God's love is poured out on us so we can experience that love and then pour it out on others. And what type of love is this? It's not a puppy love but a robust, faithful, consistent self-sacrificial type of love.
