It's not easy being a father, because fatherhood comes with great responsibility, dedication, obligation, and commitment. In a world where traditional marriage and the traditional family structure is under severe attack, it is even harder to be the father and strong male example that children need.
In the spirit of celebrating the great contributions that fathers have made to their children's lives, the Black Fathers Hall of Fame (www.blackfathershalloffame.com) is holding an essay contest in which sons and daughters can write an essay about their father, submit it online, and have a chance to win great prizes.
The winners will be announced on Sunday, June 16, 2013 on BCNN1.com, UrbanChristianNews.com, and BlackFathersHallofFame.com. Contestants must submit an essay of approximately 300 words, including their father's name, their age, and a picture of their dad (if available). The submission deadline for the contest is Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 12:00 Noon Eastern Time.
The Grand Prize winner will receive the following:
A $50 Wal-mart Gift Card
A free copy of "Uncommon Manhood," by Tony Dungy
A free copy of "God Has Smiled on Me," by Daniel Whyte III
Essay placement on BCNN1.com and UrbanChristianNews.com
An eblast with your essay and picture will be sent out to thousands of churches and Christian individuals
The Black Fatherhood Foundation's mission is to encourage black fathers to stay with their children and raise them effectively. It is also the parent organization of Black Fatherhood Today Magazine (www.blackfatherhoodtoday.com) and the Black Fathers Hall of Fame (www.blackfathershalloffame.com).
Children can also submit their father to be placed in the Black Fathers Hall of Fame at www.blackfathershalloffame.com.
