Kanye West's 'Waves' a Gospel Album?

Kanye West is making WAVES again…yes pun intended, but it’s not just because he changed the name of his record yet again. Kanye West has apparently made a gospel album.

The much-anticipated album started off as So Help Me God, and then along with the track listing was revealed to be Swish. Now just days later the name has been changed to Waves. However, there was never any indication as to what type of album it would be until now.

After a classic Kanye Twitter tirade that saw emcee Wiz Khalifa on the other end of a Tweet beating, the Yeezus rapper dropped an out of nowhere tweet.

Other Tweets surrounding that one point to Kanye getting a little more level headed with Tweets such as “I love the world bottom line and all I want is peace and positive energy” and “Good energy positive energy.”

Waves being a gospel album could, of course, be Kanye just talking nonsense on Twitter. Nevertheless, he does have a track record for Christian themes and lyrics in his music whether good or bad. Exhibit one would be “Jesus Walks” which was nominated for a Stellar Award in 2004. Exhibit two would be the album Yeezus and the song “I Am A God” which was on the blasphemous side rather than the positive side.

West also has proclaimed to be a church-attending Christian and is good friends with Pastor Rich Wilkerson. Could this “gospel record” be influenced by a perhaps growing faith and the pastor’s influence? It is too early to tell at the moment. Although, while writing this post it appears West had a change of heart from his vitriol as he posted “Ima take these down cause it’s all about positive energy blessings blessings positive energy blessings.”
