Joseph Pt 2 More Dreams

If you read carefully Matthew 2:19-23 and relate it to some of the stories from the Old Testament, you begin to see history repeat.

In this story we have another Joseph having a dream like Joseph of old. Coincidence? Hardly. We all know that God does not change (Heb. 13:8, Mal. 3:6). He actually does the same thing over and over again in different ways. I don’t see how people can view God as mysterious and unknown. God is actually a pretty principled Being. It says in His Word that He does all things according to His own will, determination, and plan (Eph. 1:11).

So when the Scriptures says that we are going to conform into the image of God and Christ Himself says to follow Him, imitate Him, and do likewise that means that we will go through everything that God did to Jesus to make us more like the Father. Even Jesus told His disciples after His resurrection about all the places in the Old Testament that was talking about Himself (Luke 24:27). And since we are going to be conformed into His image and that we are IN Him, then it would be important to pay attention to all the places where Christ points Himself out in the Old Testament (1 Cor. 10:6 & 11). We ARE those people in the Old Testament, because Jesus IS the reality and fulfillment of those people. We also are with Him the reality and the fulfillment as well. The Apostle John says,

“… because as He [Jesus the HEAD] IS, SO ARE WE [the Church and BODY of Christ] in this world.” (1st John 4:17).

Jesus might be the Head, but He also needs a body (1 Cor. 12:12-27). That means that Jesus is also a member of the Church. The Church is called the church OF GOD in the Scriptures. You will not find the words as (popular taught), “the church of Christ” anywhere in the Word of God. It’s God’s Church and Jesus is PART (a member) of the Body.
