#MondayMotivation Devotional: Too Proud to Ask for Help?

Pride is a sneaky sin that can easily creep into our Christian lives. It can manifest in many ways, including refusing to ask for help. If you're too proud to ask God for help, your Christian life won't stand a chance.

Here are three reasons why:

  1. Pride keeps us from admitting our need for God.
The first step in receiving God's help is admitting that we need it. But pride makes us want to appear self-sufficient. We don't want to admit that we're weak or that we can't do it on our own.
  2. Pride makes us think we can handle everything ourselves.
Once we've admitted that we need God's help, we need to be willing to let Him help us. But pride makes us want to control everything. We want to do things our own way, even if it's not the best way.
  3. Pride prevents us from receiving God's grace.
God's grace is a gift that we can't earn. It's something that He gives us freely, out of His love for us. But pride makes us think that we don't deserve God's grace. We think that we have to earn it by our own efforts.

If you're struggling with pride, know that you're not alone. Pride is a common sin that all Christians battle. But there is hope. We can break the cycle of pride and get into the habit of asking God for help.

Here are three things you can do:

  1. Humble yourself before God.
The first step is to humble yourself before God. Admit that you're a sinner and that you need His help. Ask Him to forgive you for your pride and to help you to overcome it.
  2. Trust God to help you.
Once you've humbled yourself before God, you need to trust Him to help you. Believe that He is able and willing to help you with your problems. Don't try to do things on your own. Let God help you.
  3. Ask God for help every day.
The best way to break the cycle of pride is to get into the habit of asking God for help every day. Pray to Him about everything, big and small. And when you pray, be specific about what you need help with. Don't just say, "God, help me." Instead, say, "God, please help me to be more patient with my children." Or, "God, please help me to overcome my fear of public speaking."

Asking God for help is a sign of faith. It shows that you trust Him to help you. And when you ask God for help, He will always be there for you.
