Google Planning To Introduce Their Own Home Entertainment System Later This Year

You may remember back during last year’s Google I/O when Google showed off their vision for a fully connected living room, dubbed Android@Home. That was all the way back in May and if you’re wondering why you haven’t heard any news or rumblings from the Google camp, you wouldn’t be the only one. Developers too, have been receiving the same silent treatment from Google, but after some new developments reported from the Wall Street Journal, we may now know why.

Yesterday, they revealed Google’s plans to launch their own cloud-based storage service, similar to Drop Box. Today, the WSJ is reporting that Google is developing a home-entertainment system that will stream music wirelessly throughout the home.

According to people close to the matter, the system will be marketed under Google’s brand. This will be the first time that Google designs and markets consumer electronic products under its own brand. Up until now, Google has mainly focused on creating software…
