Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump had a critical suggestion for State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby on Wednesday: “I think she ought to prosecute herself.”
Trump was speaking at a press conference in Florida at the same moment Mosby appeared in West Baltimore to explain her decision to drop three remaining cases against police officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray.
“I think it was disgraceful what she did and the way she did it, and the news conference that she had where they were guilty before anybody knew the facts,” Trump said.
In May 2015, Mosby charged six officers involved in the arrest and transport of Freddie Gray, who died weeks earlier from a spinal injury he suffered in the back of a police van. She announced the charges in a surprise news conference on the steps of the War Memorial in Baltimore, one day after the police department completed its own investigation into whether officers acted improperly.

Trump credited the police officers for persevering through four trials over the past seven months. A judge acquitted three of the officers this year after the first of the trials ended in a hung jury last December.
