What's true about ourselves, how can we know that what we see in the mirror - and what we observe about ourselves is actually true.
We have a dichotomy here on one hand, I have followers who love me and others who hate me. You know that you have people like that in your life too. But how are we supposed to know the capital T truth about ourselves? Are we lovable or are we hateable when we are basing our self-worth on the opinion of others? Let's turn to the word and see what it has to say, John 4:22 -24
22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, because salvation is from the Jews. 23 But [a]a time is coming, and [b]even now has arrived, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be [c]His worshipers. 24 God is [d]spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
I want you to pay attention to verse 20.
For God is spirit and his worshipers must worship in the spirit and in truth
Living a spirit. Filled life of abiding in God's presence moment by moment is a very important part of our Christian walk, but there's a second part that we often forget living by his truth in every single area of our lives. One of those areas is the truth about who we are.
Do you believe these things about yourself? You are God's child. You are Jesus's friend. You are a whole new person with a whole new life. You are a place where God's Spirit lives. You are God's work of art, you are totally and completely forgiven.
You are created in God's likeness. You are spiritually alive. You are a citizen of heaven, you are God's messenger to the world. You are God's disciple maker. You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world.
You are greatly loved. You were adopted into Gods, family. All of those things are true about me and they're true about you, as you go out today, choose to live by the spirit and truth. Trust who God says you are throw away those thoughts of who man says you are and I'll do the same thing. God's opinion is the only opinion that matters have a great Day child of God.
