Montgomery native Octavia Spencer said she doesn’t see why there’s been such a fuss about “Selma” being snubbed at the 2015 Academy Awards.

In an interview with HipHollywood.com, the actress said she doesn’t think calling the film a “snub” is warranted and believes its an overreaction to say the film, which tells of Martin Luther King Jr.’s role in the Selma to Montgomery march, was passed over during this year’s award season.

“I don’t understand what that’s about,” Spencer said during the interview. “The film was not overlooked. It received a Best Picture and a Best Song nomination. It is what it is.”
