The nominees for the 28th Annual Stellar Awards were announced this morning. Mary Mary leads the pack with 9 nominations, followed by Charles Jenkins & Fellowship Chicago, who received 8 nods. Marvin Sapp andFred Hammond each received 6 nominations, while the legendary Andraé Crouch and gospel favorite Isaac Carree each landed 5 nominations.
Kurt Carr will be honored this year with the James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award, while Bishop TD Jakes will receive the Thomas A. Dorsey Most Notable Achievement Award and Inez Andrews will receive the Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones Legends Award.
The annual awards show will be hosted by Kirk Franklin and Mary Mary this year, and will take place at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House on Saturday, January 19, 2013. Performers already slated to appear include Tamela Mann, Charles Jenkins & Fellowship Chicago, Israel Houghton, Le’Andria Johnson, Tye Tribbett, Marvin Sapp and Fred Hammond. More are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
