Biblical Leadership

GOD has blessed me with a new Job. It's a leadership position that is higher then I have ever been so I was lead to do some studying on leadership. The Bible is filled with Knowledge on how to lead GOD's way. The following is from a study I found by Hershey H. Friedman, Ph.D. The Bible does not hide mistakes made by great people. This makes it an extremely valuable text for teaching moral character. In fact, the lessons learned from mistakes often provide a more lasting and powerful impact than those learned from doing things right. These lessons are not only valuable for individuals in positions of leadership but all people who wish to improve their character. Stories of the following Biblical personalities are examined: Jacob, Joseph, Balaam, Samson, Saul, David, Solomon, and Haman. This examination indicates that the purpose of leadership is not fame, power, fortune, or settling old scores, but to lead people with truth and righteousness. Leaders must be ethical and should not cover up injustices, even on the part of loved ones. Scholars have examined everything from films (e.g., Dunphy and Aupperle, 2000) to literature (e.g., Clemens and Mayer, 1999) to history (e.g., Kaltman, 1998) to come up with helpful insights into what it takes to achieve success as a leader. Interestingly, very few studies on leadership have focused on the Bible. This, despite the fact that the Bible has had a profound effect on a countless number of people. To the believer, it is the word of God and provides a blueprint for how individuals should lead their lives. Even non-believers recognize the Bible as an important work of literature and a valuable tool for teaching timeless lessons to humankind. The Bible is the most popular book of all time -- it is estimated that as many as 6 billion copies have been sold -- and is the source of many metaphors and scenarios that can be very helpful to those teaching principles of moral leadership. Even for those who have no interest or inclination to lead, an examination of the deeds and misdeeds of Biblical leaders can be useful in understanding the importance of ethical behavior. Some researchers have found worthwhile lessons in leadership by studying the stories of Abraham and Moses, two of the great leaders of the Hebrew Bible (Herskovitz and Klein, 1999; Friedman and Langbert, 2000). The current paper, which extends and complements their work, will briefly examine the lives of several Biblical leaders. Since the Bible does not hide mistakes made by great people, this makes it an extremely valuable text for teaching moral character. In fact, the lessons learned from mistakes often provide a more lasting and powerful impact than those learned from doing things right. These lessons are not only valuable for individuals in positions of leadership but all people who wish to improve their character. Jacob Jacob was one of the patriarchs, a grandson of Abraham, and father of the twelve tribes. His major mistake as a leader of the clan was to designate Joseph as his successor when Joseph was still young and somewhat irresponsible. Jacob gave Joseph the coat of many colors, a symbol of leadership, when his son was only 17-years old. Joseph, however, was immature and reported his brothers’ shortcomings to his father (Genesis 37:2). Needless to say, his brothers did not like him. Jacob was prescient and recognized the potential of Joseph. Indeed, Joseph would eventually prove to be not only a good clan leader, but would become one of the great leaders of Egypt -- one who would get Egypt through seven years of famine. Unfortunately, at this point in his life, Joseph was not yet a good judge of human nature and further aroused the envy and hatred of his brothers by recounting his dreams to them. Relating a dream in which the sun, the moon, and eleven stars bow to him -- a dream that was not very hard to interpret -- infuriated Joseph’s brothers who made it clear that they would never accept him as a ruler over them. Joseph was sold as a slave by his brothers and did not become a leader of Egypt until he was 30-years old. The lesson that can be learned from Jacob’s mistake is not to designate a successor prematurely and not to show favoritism to one child. It usually takes time for people to recognize and appreciate the qualities of others. A successor has to be groomed. With time, Joseph would have matured and his siblings might have accepted him as the leader of the clan, or at the very least Joseph’s siblings would have been unable to forcefully sell him into slavery. Sometimes successors have to be prepared for positions of authority. In fact, Joshua was groomed for 40 years by Moses before being designated as Moses’ successor by God (Numbers 27:16-23). Joseph’s mistake was in bragging about his dreams. Little good can come from making other people envious of oneself.

Rakim Can Do It, Why Can't We?

Written by Moeski
rakimI recently caught wind of Rakim’s single called “Holy Are You” and as I was peepin’ it out a question popped up in my mind and I asked myself, “Now listening to this song, how come The R doesn’t get labeled as a Muslim rapper?” I mean, he spits spiritual undertones just like any other Christian emcee but yet it seems that Christian artists can’t break from that label of a Christian rapper, Gospel rapper and Holy Hip Hopper. Now I look at Rakim as a dope emcee that just happens to be Muslim and I can’t name a rapper that he hasn’t influenced, including Christian emcees. So how come the world looks at our artist and express the opposite? How come Christian artists can’t be dope emcees, nothing more, nothing less? For those artists that feel that they are called to the secular arena, how do you want the industry or mainstream to view you and your music? Somebody talk to me. 1. Treat others as you would have them treat you: Treat other people in the manner that you want them to treat you. This is a hallmark of Christianity. Be kind to people, even when they are unkind to you. That way, you set an example for them, you become a representative of the Christian faith. "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you" - Jesus, as quoted in Matthew 7:12 (NIV) 2. Help people: In Matthew 25:34-40, Jesus tells us that we are to give food to those who are hungry, give clothes to people who need them, provide shelter for people who have none, visit people who are sick, and give comfort to people who are in prison. 3. Don't worry: Do your best. Deal with life's problems. But don't worry. Instead, have faith in Jesus that all things will work out in the way they need to work out. "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" - Jesus, as quoted in Matthew 6:27 (NIV) 4. Read the Bible: If you read the Bible for about 10 to 20 minutes a day, you can finish the four Gospels - the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John - in one month. The four Gospels describe the life and teachings of Jesus, the Son of God. 5. Give thanks and be joyful: "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV) 6. Pray: "This, then, is how you should pray: `Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.' " - Jesus, explaining how people should pray, as quoted in Matthew 6:9-13 (NIV) 7. Forgive your enemies: "For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." - Jesus, as quoted in Matthew 6:14-15 (NIV) 8. Be careful what you say about other people: "But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned." - Jesus, as quoted in Matthew 12:36-37 (NIV) 9. Know the Word of God and use it each day: If you read the four Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, you will see many examples of how Christians should act. "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock." - Jesus, as quoted in Matthew 7:24 (NIV) 10. Encourage others to read the Bible: If you have found peace and salvation in the Bible, share it with others - tell people, write a letter, or create a Web site. Encourage others to read the Bible. Encourage family members and friends to attend church with you. Consider giving Bibles as gifts to others. "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Jesus, as quoted in Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)

Heb. 11:7; Gen. 6:9-22 Man had become wicked. Man was created to be a steward of the earth but had made the earth a cesspool of immorality and a society of lawlessness and violence. Man was not living for GOD but for his flesh., living for beauty and sex, living for money, possessions, power…man had forgotten GOD. In fact man was working against the very purpose for which GOD created him. When you read the text dealing with Noah, you should note the contrast between Noah and the rest of the earth. Noah was just and walked with GOD. Everyone else was corrupt and violent. No doubt the people the people of his day hated him and persecuted him. Noah’s life and teaching bothered then just like the life of a GODly man bothers the heathen today (6:9a) Noah was Just! The Hebrew word tsaddiq means two things. 1. To be justified or counted righteous before GOD. I person is Counted righteous when he really believes GOD’s word. 2. To be righteous also means to live a righteous life and treat others the way you want to be treat. Fair and just. It’s not enough to claim you know GOD! (v.9) Noah was “perfect”. The Hebrew word for perfect, tamim does not mean sinless. It means honest and with good morals. Noah walked with God. The implications of walking with GOD are… 1. “You must be taken away. 2. you are at peace with GOD. 3. Fellowship is experienced. 4. Progress in Christian life. The Maintenance of Walking with GOD 1. Bible Reading. 2. Secret Prayer. 3. Mediation. 4. Faithfulness to GOD. 5. Association with GODly Motives for walking with GOD 1. It is a walk that is honorable 2. It is a walk that is pleasant 3. It is a walk that ends in heaven. (6:11-16) Note the word earth means mankind. Man had become so earthly he was called earth. Remember man was created in part, to care for the earth but man had abused and defiled his heritage. Man was not taking care of himself or the earth. He was not offering himself a sacrifice. This reminds me of the current state of man. The things GOD called upon Noah were unbelievable, yet he believed GOD and accepted his word. Noah had to believe GOD’s commandment and build an ark on dry land in the middle of nowhere.

Within us and all around us there is a war going on. If you are a follower of Yashua, then your life is a battlefield. A constant struggle begins the instant a believer chooses to accept Yashua as his Lord. He is engaged in a war that will never end during his Christian walk. The battle is spiritual, the battlefield is spiritual and the weapons are spiritual so it should be understood that the battle could only be one on a spiritual level. I like how Tony Evens defines spiritual writing “Spiritual Warfare is that conflict being waged in the invisible, spiritual realm that is being manifest in the visible physical realm (pg 7 Tony Evens Speaks Out on Spiritual Warfare).” It is an invisible fight between the armies of Heaven and Satan's fallen angels that affect you and me. One of the Bibles best teaching on this subject comes from Ephesians 6:10-20. Here Paul is teaching us that victory in spiritual warfare is dependent on the inward growth and edification of the church ( also see 4:12;16). It is important that the Body of Christ be united and built up so that we are prepared to combat the enemy. The sad truth is that it is taken for granted that the victory is already assured though the death and resurrection of Yashua. As followers of Christ, we have three enemies; the world, the flesh, and the devil ( Eph. 2:1-3). When we refer to “the world”, we mean the system around us that is apposed to GOD and caters to to the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. (1 John 2:15-17. “The Flesh” is the old nature we got from Adam. “The Flesh” is opposed to GOD and can do nothing spiritually to please him. For most military units during war time, Intelligence agencies such as the CIA are very important because it allows officers to know and understand the enemy. To defeat the enemy you must know the enemy; who is he; what is he and what can he do. Throughout the Bible we find many names for the enemy. The name “Devil” means “accuser” because he accuses GOD's children before GOD's throne daily (Rev 12:7-11). The name “Satan” means “adversary,” because he is GOD's enemy. He is also known as the tempter (Matt. 4:3), the murderer and the liar (Jn 8:44). He is also compared to a serpent ( Gen 3:1; Rev 12:9), an angle of light (2 Cor. 11:13-15), as well as “the god of this age” (2 Cor. 4:4). So, where does this evil being come from? Two passages in the Old Testament (Is. 14:12-15, Ez. 28:11-19) have been used to show Satan's fall from grace. When written, these were directed at the kings of Tyre and Babylon, but many scholars believe they also refer to Satan. Rev. 12. teaches further on how he fell and turned one third of all the angels in Heaven against GOD (Rev. 12:3-4). Satan, unlike GOD, is a created being. He is limited in knowledge Unlike GOD, he is not all knowing; he is not all powerful; he is not everywhere at once and he is not an eternal being. So if there is such a limit to his power how can he do so much all over the world? Because he has an organized army. As I stated before, Satan took one third of all the angels in down with him. This is where we get what we call demons. The Book of Daniel Teaches us that Satan's dark angels struggle with GOD's angels for control or the affairs of nations (Dan 10:13-20). There is a spiritual war going on that we can not see, yet we are apart of. To fight in this war we must be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power (Eph. 6:10). Remember This is not a physical war, so we can not use physical strength. Our strength is found in the Lord though fellowship with him (Jn 15:1-8) Once we are strong within, we must put on the full armor of GOD. We have to remember, the armor itself is a waste if the soldier does not have a heart to fight. Once you have the power of GOD in your heart, you can arm yourself and prepare for battle. The most important part is probably the fact we were told to put on the full armor, not leaving out one piece. The soldier that leaves off any part of his armor exposes himself to the enemy and stands a good chance of getting hurt or even killed. It's a scary fact that our enemy, Satan knows us. He knows what is most appealing to us. The word “schemes” (methodic) in Ephesians 6:11, means the deceits, craftiness, trickery, methods and the strategies in which the the devil uses to wage war against the believer. He has strategies that appeal to the lust of the eyes (1 Jn 2:16, Gen 3:6, Mt. 4:5-6). Satan will make sure you see things that maybe very attractive to you, though GOD may not want you to have it. These things appeal to our flesh and pride. Things like... Delicious, yet unhealthy food. An attractive person. Material things like clothing, land and cars. A Position Authority and power. Another gimmick of Satan is to send a false teacher, a very impressive person, well dressed and with good speech. Satan is not a myth. He is real, but this character dressed in red with horns and a pitch fork is a lie! He will come to you as an angel of light and his ministers will come as teachers of truth and righteousness. On the surface there teachings seem to be biblical but when you look closer you will see their word is not intone with the teaching of Yashua. Their message is of self-rightiousness and... Human goodness and works. Ego and self-image. Personal development and correction. Mind and will. One that is clothed in the full armor of GOD will recognize Satan's minister and refute them in the name of Yashua! What is this armor and how does it aid us in our battle with the evil one? Your equipment is found in Ephesians 6:13-17. First the girdle of truth. The girdle is the part that holds the whole armor together and gives it strength. Without Truth, the whole thing falls apart. Yashua and his Word is the Truth. Next the breastplate protects your heart. Everything you do exposes your heart and shows everyone who your heart is with. Third are the sandals of the gospel. The Roman soldiers sandals were made strong for support doing battle. This refers to the strong support you should have in knowing the doctrinal truths of the Gospel. Forth is the shield of faith. Unless you have genuine faith that in the name of Yashua you have power and authority over him you can not defeat him. Satan's primary weapon is doubt. Number five is the helmet of salvation. The helmet protects the head and will only allow sound doctrine to enter. Sixth is the Sword of the Spirit. Note what this weapon is named. Everything else on this list is to protect you. GOD's word is all you need to fight with. True prayer from the heart is a blow to Satan's head. It is the only way to get power from GOD. We must always pray. The soldier that is not constantly praying, is not constantly under GODs protection. We must pay in the spirit and not be led by our own thoughts. We must be alert in our prayer. We must not be selfish in our prayer. Spiritual war is one GOD declares, not us. GOD leads not us. GOD wins not us. In the Old Testament, the Ark of the Covenant, which symbolized GOD here on earth, went before the Hebrews into every battle. Soldiers sanctified themselves by abstaining from certain activities. Satan stays on his grind so we have to keep on the full armor because he will go for the weakest part.

page-16-b 1. Faith (Heb 11:1-6). People look to Hebrews 11:1 for the definition of Faith. Faith is believing all GOD is and says despite what others may teach. When you hope for something because GOD exist and has promised it, that is faith. Faith is not… a. “I think so, I hope so” b. “It may be so, it may not be so” c. “it may be true, it may not be true True authentic faith has its reward and that’s GOD’s approval – he is pleased! When we trust him and believe he will give us what he promised us he is pleased. When have confidence that he will look after us and give us victory over all things he’s is pleased. In the Bible Cain was a man that went to GOD, he had religion but not faith. Enoch believed Elihim and walked with him. He was with out sin. The closer you walk with GOD, the stronger you faith will be. So now the question is “how do I develop authentic faith?” Well Hebrews 11:1 teaches us we develop faith by practicing hope, or hoping for something and claiming it because GOD has promised it. We also develop faith by earnestly seeking GOD according to Hebrews 11:6. One thing must be understood. GOD will not reward sinful, carnal trust or doubting. 2. Fear (LK 8:22-25). Look at the question asked by Yahsua in Luke 8:25, “where is your Faith?” By sleeping during the storm Yashua demonstrated the absolute necessity for his people to have faith in GOD. He rebuked his followers for there lack of faith. Lack of faith is a very powerful weapon used by Satan. It can cause you to deny Christ! 3.Fellowship and Forgiveness ( Eph 4:31-32). Bitterness, rage and anger all hinder our relationship with our brothers and sisters, which hinders our relationship with GOD. What your brother or sister did to offend you is not important. It is hypocritical to ask for forgiveness from Elihim, who we have never physically seen when cant forgive our brothers or neighbors who we see everyday. It is GOD’s desire for us to edify each other and build each other up. 4. Focus Means “ Point of concentration.’ Ask yourself “what am I concentrating on in the work place, in the church, in your marriage or with family and in school. In each of these areas, your Focus is to be on GOD. With genuine faith you can over come all things. Understand and remember fear is the opposite of faith. Fear is not productive and it is not of GOD! As followers of Elihim, we grow in faith and decrease fear when we build each other up. oracle-logo1

Review - Pro - The Blackout

PRO - Black Out

PRO's new album should be out soon. So to get you Just as excited as I am for it I thought I'd review his last album. I Love this album. I been playing it since I got it. Today's rap artist (especially the secular ones) will drop mixtapes that go harder then their album. But my man PRO don't play that.

Who is Pro? Is a very confident emcee that bites his tongue for no one. And whats one thing I like about him and his music. Some people mistake his confidence for arrogance, so his soon to be released “Redemption”is designed to help fix that and clear things up.

If you were to take the social consciousness of Common, the flow of The Game, The theology of The Cross movement, and some west coast, southern seasoned beats you would have PRO's debut album. That's right fam, this is is first joint. That means the best is yet to come. And it blows me away how he put together project that has something for everyone musically yet the album still contains unity. Nothing sounds out of place.

From the begaining PRO says a lot of the things I had on my mind like rappers front'n on wax. On the first song he gets gets it in spit'n...

“Where all the guns at?/I ain’t heard a glock pop/I walked through ya hood and I ain’t never been shot/And all that talk about you hangin’ where the dimes be/I seen your baby mama/Man she ain’t a dime piece/Where that advance money?/Show me just a little proof/And if you a deal, Mother Goose signed you/Because you specialize in fairy tales very well/We see through you homie/That’ll never sell…” Thats what im talking about. PRO takes shots at the thugs and trappers thought out the project. This is not a new thing. But not since the Tunnel Rats have I hard a christian artist attack secular artist while matching or even out doing their flow and production.

Songs like “Without You” feat Coko Korrine, show you that PRO has more then a solid spit game. He is nice behind the boards. Normally artist don't come with production this sick out the gate but he is not alone. He has of Doc Watson and Young Vizzy A Dot to help hold him down. Special Guest appearances include Soul P., Pettidee, Kingston, Willie Will and more. Shut It Down, which features Pettidee,

One of my favorite joints is“Bring It Back,” featuring Willie Will, is ode to when rap was a more raw and true. Back when it was more about skill and less about gimmicks. Checkout verse two:

“Everybody’s a baller, everybody’s a hustler/A million dope dealers and everybody’s a customer/Everybody’s a pimp, everybody’s a gorilla/He don’t pay that homie, everybody’s a killer/When the microphone’s off and the camera on pause/Let’s still keep it real/What about ya’ll?” Other notable tracks include “Bet I Bounce Back,” “Yeah,” and “What I’m Working Wit.”

I feel christian hip hop can be divided into three areas. You have music that is more doctrine heavy ( The Crossmovement, Reach Records) and that's cool but real talk, that's not for everyone. Then you have music that has more of an “underground” Flava ( Mars ill, Deepspace 5), and then you have those on a mission take the gospel to the streets. That what PRO gives you. This is a fire album you can knock in your ride without compromising GOD's Word. On the real, PRO does talk a lot about how nice he is on the mic but he is quick to give GOD the glory and show you GOD is the source of his talent and skill.

Please click here to read Part one of this series WHERE THINGS WENT WRONG - THE RISE OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH Authentic Christianity seemed to be practiced in Jerusalem up until about 135 A.D. during the 2nd fall. It was during this time the church stopped having Jewish bishops and changed its practices to avoid imperial persecution. The Roman Catholic Church claims its origins is Matthew 16:13-20, and use that scripture as evidence that Peter was there first Pope they also claim their beginning in the death resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ in the year 30 A.D. They claim to be the church Jesus died for and the Apostles built. This is far from true. By reading the New Testament you would clearly see the Catholic Church does not have it's origins in the teachings of Jesus or the Apostles. Nowhere in the New Testament is there a mention of the papacy, worship/adoration of Mary, Payer to saints, sacraments, infant baptism, confession of sins to a priest, purgatory, indulgences, or the equal authority of church tradition and scripture. During its first 280 years, Christianity was banned by the Roman Empire and Christians were severely punished. This changed after the "conversion" of the Roman Emperor Constantine. Christianity was "legalized" by Constantine at the Edict of Milan in 313 A.D. In 325 he called together the council of Nicea, in an attempt to "unify" Christianity. The Roman Empire was beginning to fall apart. Constantine felt Christianity could keep this from happening. Many say this was a great and positive move, yes the results were far from positive Constantine understood it would not be an easy task to make Christianity the offal state religion of the Roman Empire because many in the empire hated Christianity the official state religion of the of the Roman Empire because many in the Empire hated what they stood for. So Constantine allowed and promoted the paganization of Christian believes. Ideas that were pagan and completely unbiblical were given new "Christian identities". Pagan rituals and idols began to take on Christian meanings and were incorporated into Christian worship (i.e. "saints" replaced the cult of pagan god worship and pagan holidays were reclassified as Christian holt days (i.e. the Roman Lupercalia and the feast of purification of Isis became the Feast of nativity; the Saturnalia celebrations were replaced by Christian celebrations; an ancient festival of the dead was replaced by All saints day dedicated to all Christian heroes [known to you as Halloween] etc.) Now rather then being persecuted for failure to worship pagan deities, Christians who disagreed with the actions of the church as backed by the Emperor were now persecuted in the name of Christ! Here are some examples of beliefs marketed as biblical, but are pagan in origin. For your own research, excellent reference sources for a though treatment of Catholicism's origins, beliefs and practices would be Roman Catholicism (466 ppgs) and A Woman Rides the Beast (544ppgs)
  1. Source of Authority. Catholics accept the apocryphal books plus the 66 books in the protestant Bible. They also teach their tradition is equal to the Bible. (CF. Mk. 7:8, 9, 13; Mtt. 15:3,, 6, 9; Col. 2:8). They teach that the Pope is holy, pure and immune from error. Roman Catholicism places itself above Scripture and that the Pope is Christ vicar on earth. Catholics also maintain the belief in sacerdotalism, that an ordained catholic priest has the power to forgive sins (cf. 1 Tim. 2:5)
  2. Jesus Christ. Catholicism teaches that Jesus is GOD, yet he did not pay the full penalty for sin after died and rose from the dead. They teach that before you go to heaven you must spend time in purgatory to atone for sin (cf. Jn 19:30; Heb. 10 11, 12)
  3. Mary. The cult of Isis, an Egyptian mother goddess religion was brought over to Christianity replacing Isis with Mary. Isis had many titles including "Queen of Heaven, mother of god" and theothoks" or god bearer. This all started with Nimrod's wife Semerimus, who claimed all of these titles. More on her later. These titles were given to Mary. Many of the temples were dedicated to Mary. For the first clear hints of Mariology, look to the writings of Origen, who lived in Alexandra, Egypt which was the nucleus of Isis Worship. Although the Catholic Church gives praise and honor to Mary, the Bible never does. In 1923 Pope Pius XI embraced Pope Benedict XV's teaching that Mary suffered with Christ and that they redeemed mankind together. Catholics claim that, just like Jesus, Mary was Sinless from conception, and totally unable to sin (Doctrine of Immaculate Conception, proclaimed by Pope Pius IX in 1854). The Doctrine of Assumption of Mary, declared ex cathedra by Pope Pius XII in November of 1950. It teaches that Mary was raised from the grave on the third day of her death and all that refused this has committed sin.
This is just a small taste of the traditions borrowed by the by the Roman Catholic Church. The reformation during the 1500's was supposed to right these wrongs. Instead many catholic beliefs were brought over to the protestant church (Christianity can be divided into two categories, Catholics and Protestants. Examples of Protestants are Baptist, Methodist, AME, etc.) In truth there is not much difference. Many of the things we do today in church have no root in GOD's word and are pagan in origin. Many of our church leaders no this is true yet they continue this Idolatry for the sake of tradition, We must understand the goal of the early church was more then to make converts, they were to make disciples (Mt. 28:19-20) Just looking at the book of Acts we note several differences between what we have today and what they had 2000 years ago. In Acts 2:41-47 we see that after peter preached the word of GOD (in the spirit) 3000 people responded and were baptized. After they were baptized they continued steadfastly in
  1. doctrine
  2. fellowship
  3. the Lords Table (know to you as Holy communion)
  4. Prayer
  5. Baptism
  6. Praise and Joy
Acts 5;42 also talks about the daily activities of early Christians. This is what they did every single day and this one of the reasons they had they powerful movement they had. It would do us well to follow their example.
  1. Pray (Mt. 6:11; Lk. 11:3)
  2. Take your cross up daily (Lk. 9:23)
  3. Continue in one accord (Acts 2:46)
  4. Teach (Mt. 26:55; Lk 19;47)
  5. Win souls ( Acts 2:47; 16:5)
  6. Preach Jesus ( Acts 5:42)
  7. Search this scripture (Acts 17:11
  8. Discuss scripture (Acts 19:9)
  9. Carry responsibility ( 2 Cor. 11:28)
  10. Exhort on another (Heb. 3:13)
Acts 2:41-47 gives us six traits that characterized the daily lives of Christians in the first century. Compare this with yourself and the people you keep company with.
  1. They gladly received the Word (V. 41)
  2. They were devoted (V. 42)
  3. They Stirred every with a godly fear (V. 43)
  4. They were always together, and sharing. (44-45)
  5. They had Unity (v 46)
  6. They worshipped GOD daily ( V 46 - 47)
The early church received GOD's word everyday. This is GODs Word, not another man's thoughts or ideas A True massager will deliver GOD's Word Only - Daily. Everything else must be rejected. Acts 2:42 teaches us the church the church must live in constant fellowship with each other. All true Followers of Yashua have the Holy Spirit in them. The Holy Spirit within you attaches it self to the Holy spirit of other Christians. Acts 2:42 also teaches us that they "broke bread" daily. This means that ritual, Holy Communion that we Christians do once a month, they did regularly. This was because everything they were was due to the sacrifice of GOD the Son. They did not want to forget GODs love. Plus it should be noted, Yashua commanded his followers to observe the Loves supper often. Acts 2:42 also teaches us lived in content prayer. They prayed together and not just on Sundays, Wednesday nights and during revivals. They prayed together daily. This helps keeping unity in the body, and it brought the whole body close to GOD. Acts 2:43 teach us that the early followers of Yasua stirred everyone with fear. This does not mean that people were scared or afraid. It means that people respected them. When people were around a Christian they felt GODs presence. The Spirit of Giving We learn from Acts 2:43 that the early churches were "together" and "shared in ministry." It is important for the church today to study this point, learn from it and apply it. Once again the text teaches us that they were "together". They were in the same place because they were untitled by purpose, mind and call. We also learn that their dedication to GOD was so deep, and there love for other was so strong they sold their possessions and use the money to minister to the needy. Understand, this was not giving ten percent of your income so you can "Reap and sow", or giving so it can be given back to you 100 fold. This was the church seeing a need and taking action to meet it (1 John 3:17) the haves are to always lookout for the have-nots. But who is rich and who is poor?
  1. When a person has more then the majority of others in the word, that person is rich.
  2. When a person has more then what meets the needs for himself and his family that person is rich ( Mk. 12:41-44; Lk . 21:1-4; Acts 4: 34-35)
What I am saying is far too often denied and ignored in the church today, but this does not stop it from being true. Today's church teaches the more we have in the form of material things the more blessed we are. They misuse of GOD's Word to teach this lie How can we have more then we need either Ignore those in desperate need or toss them crumbs. GOD demands we do what ever it takes to meet the desperate needs of the poor. And we truly say this is what we do? In the eyes of many who are not Christians we are hypocrites for this reason. This is one of the key reasons people find it hard to fellow Christ. It is said this is the reason Gandhi never embraced Christianity (Mt. 19:21; Mt 6;21; Lk 12:31-34) We focus so heavily on the fact that we are saved by grace, we neglect the order to serve and minister to our neighbor. Before you can truly follow Yashua, you have to completely deny self. This may be hard but softening the Word does not erase it... GOD Still commands it. (Ro 3:3). For many of us, the love of world (its lust and pleasures) will make it hard to deny self. When we refuse to give unselfishly to our needy brothers and sisters we show...
  1. that we love material things of the world more then we love our needy bothers and sisters ( Lk. 16:19-21)
  2. We love the material things of the world more then we love the promise of eternal life.
  3. That position and power is more important to us then the love of GOD.
Material things can give you an "I" complex (Mt 19:16, 20). The person with possessions is often envied. Material things bring power and boost the ego, and more ego means less GOD. The world is filled with starving, sick and homeless people. Millions of people are spiritually lost. Looking at this fact we should be asking "how can any Christian ignore the needy in this world. How can any Christian keep more then what his family needs when people are dieing". Please click here to read Part one of this series

F – Words

F – Words 1.
