So much for all that premature talk about Kobe Bryant retiring.
The morning after the Achilles tendon pop heard 'round Laker Nation, team trainer Gary Vitti said the timetable for Bryant's return is six to nine months and that he is aiming to return for the start of the 2013-14 regular season.
"That's the plan," Vitti said, according to the team's Twitter account.
Bryant, who shared his deepest thoughts on the matter by way of Facebook late Friday night, tweeted a picture of his MRI today a

Wichita State University's men's basketball team got an unexpected new fan when they arrived home after their latest NCAA tournament victory.
A plane carrying New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow was refueling in Wichita when the Shockers' bus arrived Sunday after their upset win over top-seeded Gonzaga.
Tebow's representative asked coach Gregg Marshall if the Heisman Trophy winner could talk to the team.
Wearing a pink sweater over a tie and untucked shirt, Tebow got on the team bus, grabbed a

LeBron James badly missed a layup, got angry and committed a foul after the rebound. It was late in the third quarter, the game was tied and this Miami Heat winning streak seemed to be in jeopardy.
On the next possession, he threw down a fierce dunk.
Everything changed in that instant. The game became a runaway, and the Heat moved another step closer to the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers and the greatest streak in the history of the league.
James finished with 24 points, 11 assists and nine rebou

LeBron James and the Miami Heat escaped Boston with their 23rd win in a row. All that's in front of them now is the NBA record for consecutive victories.
Five years to the day after the Celtics snapped Houston's winning streak at 22 games, James scored 37 points and made the go-ahead basket with 10.5 seconds left in Miami's 105-103 victory on Monday night.
After overcoming the largest deficit they've faced during their streak, the only team left for the Heat to catch is the 1971-72 Los Angeles

Technically, Tim Tebow still has a job with the New York Jets, but we all know what's going to happen at some point this offseason. He's going to be released.
And the only reason he's going to be released is because the Jets can't find a trade partner to take him off their hands.
And the only reason the Jets can't find a trade partner to take Tebow off their hands is because he is not a very good quarterback (and that's being nice).
So, is it time for Tebow to give up on the NFL since not one

The Miami Heat had just watched the Super Bowl when Shane Battier delivered a speech that left quite the impression.
Whatever he said that night in Toronto, the Heat sure took off from there.
They haven't come down yet.
LeBron James and Chris Bosh each scored 28 points, and the Heat made it 21 straight wins, beating the Milwaukee Bucks 107-94 on Friday night.
Only three other teams have won 20 in a row in one season, and the Heat now trail just the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers (33) and the 2007-

4798The Houston Rockets wish they could get away from their habit of trailing early in games and needing big second-half rallies to pull them out.

As long as they have James Harden, it seems to be a working formula.
Harden scored 37 points, Jeremy Lin had 24 and the Rockets rallied from 20 points down in the third quarter to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 108-100 on Friday night.
Harden also grabbed seven rebounds and handed out eight assists for the Rockets, who rallied from a double-digit def

4798Few players can attest to the rise in basketball that Jeremy Lin had in New York--the type of overnight, Internet sensation who won game after game for the Knicks.
Lin's story read more like a movie plot-line--unheralded star who comes to the big-time and shines--than it did real life, and the accolades and praise that seemed to flow in for the point guard endlessly suggested that he would be a real star in the future.
He would then make a highly talked about move from the Knicks to the Houston

Standing at his locker after yet another victory, LeBron James finally acknowledged the obvious.
This winning streak is something for the Miami Heat to savor.
Dwyane Wade scored 23 points and on a night where the stat sheet would suggest a struggle, the Heat rolled once again, extending their winning streak to 19 games and leading wire-to-wire in beating the Atlanta Hawks 98-81 on Tuesday.
"Let's be honest, guys," James said. "We're not sitting here and saying this is not something special. T
