Outspoken Christian rap artist Lecrae wrote an open letter to Huffington Post where he expressed all his frustrations with humanity, being misunderstood, critics, and navigating through culture.

The Recording Industry Association of America has announced that Lecrae's seventh studio album, Anomaly, is now certified Gold. 

To go Gold, an album must sell 500,000 units. Other hip-hop artists whose albums have gone Gold over the past year include Meek Mill, Childish Gambino and Wale.

Reach Records released Anomaly on Sept. 9, 2014. The following week, the LP moved 88,000 units, earning the top spot on the Billboard 200.

Yesterday, we received news that Nelson Chu a.k.a DJ Official had passed on due to complications related to a recent lung-transplant surgery.  The surgery happened as the climax of Official’s struggles with a rare form of cancer. Many musicians, athletes, and public figures are speaking out about racism, injustice, and Black Lives Matter. Rapper Lecrae, who is perhaps Christian music’s biggest star, has been very vocal the last few weeks as he has taken to social media and various outlets to express his thoughts. 

Most recently Lecrae stated that he would not just stick to the gospel. He felt that there are other messages he could share, and urged Christian fans to really think about race on his Instagram.

GRAMMY award-winning hip-hop artist, Lecrae, has inked a deal with legendary record company, Columbia Records. The deal is in conjunction with his own imprint, Reach Records, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Columbia Records also has Adele, Beyonce, and Pharrell Williams, among others, on their roster.

Unashamed World, the long-awaited film by director Art Hooker on Lecrae and his fellow 116 Clique members' grassroots movement which went global, officially has a release date. 

Unashamed World will hit theaters nationwide on June 1, according to a trailer released this week.

A film about the Unashamed Movement may soon be coming to a theater near you.


Art Hooker — director of the Unashamed World and, previously, President Barack Obama’s “This Is Fatherhood” campaign featuring Lecrae and Dwayne Wade — told Rapzilla that his long-awaited documentary will finally release in January 2016. He started the project in 2010 and planned to put it out in 2012. However, the career trajectory of the main character, Lecrae, kept changing.
