Daily Devotional: Listening

by PamFord Davis

‘Listen.’

You’ve heard the command from parents and teachers; as a plea, it may have been spoken by a troubled spouse, child or friend.

‘Listen to me’…

If you, (like me) have watched or listened to ‘In Touch’ on TV or radio; you admire Dr. Charles Stanley. He preaches under the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit. Getting his points across, he repeatedly says, listen!

How closely do you listen; how do I?

Are we attentive?

Do we listen for God’s voice,

Life As A Proverbs 31 Woman

by Kathie Thomas

Throughout 2006 I decided to do a study on Proverbs 31 via a blog. It was partly an exercise to practice using the software and I'd always wanted to explore this book in greater details so combining the two seemed an ideal way to do it. I had no idea that the blog would end up being a very popular one which still draws in thousands of visitors every month a year after I began writing it.

During the course of doing this study it became clear to me

We meet again; instantaneously, we hug.

Why?

We’re family and happy to see each other!

The ladies in my Sunday school group gathered and a sense of love and compassion came over me.

Comparing the experience to a group hug seemed logical.

The Lord is an advocate of group worship and interaction.

We should seize every opportunity to fellowship with God’s children.

“.... but if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with on

In this journey of life, you need to learn to not force things because God has already made a plan for things to go a particular way.
When you have to travel the difficult roads of life, do you let go of the wheel, give it to God and let Him navigate the way as well or do you try to maintain control on your own? Giving all our trials and worries in life to God and trusting Him in those difficult times is often easier said than done! In fact, it is downright frightening at times.
Most of us ha

Warmer weather is coming and camping is on our ‘to do’ list.

We usually stay at state parks; most are very nice and with senior discounts we stay at bargain rates. My husband and I are not hiking enthusiasts but most parks do offer hiking trails.

Maybe you know someone who has hiked the Appalachian Trail. I read that it runs from Georgia to Maine and measures at 2100 hundred miles. (Wikipedia)

The Exodus of Israelites from Egypt to the Promised Land was reported to be ov

Daily Devotional: Three Sons

by PamFord Davis

I grew up with three boys.

No, they were not at home or my brothers; they were actors who starred in ‘My Three Sons.’

I was only 11 when the show premiered in 1960. At 23, I was a wife and mother by the time ‘My Three Sons’ ended in 1972.

The three sons of Fred MacMurray (in the role of Steve Douglas) were like extended family.

Sadly, fans have lost 2 of the 3 sons. Don Grady (in the role of Robbie) died at the age of 68 of cancer. You might remember that he began as one o

When We Need Another

Ecclesiastes 4:12 – “Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.  And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

Hebrews 10:24-25 – “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Did you ever have one of those days?

Love comes differently for everyone. And what works for one person might not work for someone else. In our society, it’s really harder for a woman to like a man. This is because, a man is supposed to approach a woman. Most women then have to bottle up their feelings because they don’t know the right way to channel it. Some even feel guilty for liking a man and this people are mostly Christians. In our video today, we will talk about ‘biblical things a woman should do when she likes a man’.

This has to be one of the hardest things to do.
Just when you feel like you can ignore the thoughts of things going wrong, then you are asked to give it up to God? Hmmm… But really, admitting that you are hurt and letting God know so He can heal you has to be the best thing one can do for themselves.
The beautiful part is that, you are not admitting to man, but to God.

Let us lay down some basics on this issue before we move further, So, what can get you hurt? The death of a loved one. A j

A lot of people often wonder how women should be and how they should behave especially as wives. Throughout the cause of history, the role of women has been seen and debated through different lens. And most of these views are on the extreme that it puts up women daily for criticism. Thankfully though, we have a manual called the Word of God that we can use to know God’s own standard. In today’s topic, we’d be talking on the “Proverbs 31 woman”. I pray that the eyes of your understanding become e

Why go through a season of waiting if God can just give you the blessing without hesitation?

How do you embrace the season where you have to be in training and learn to wait on God for the things you really want?
Perhaps this is why the Bible talks so much about waiting. God wants us to know that waiting is far from a passive activity in which we do nothing. In fact, Scripture teaches us that God wants us to actively participate in the work he desires to accomplish. Waiting strategically can

Daily Devotional: Persuade Them

by PamFord Davis

We are introduced to two men.

Read between the lines. (Luke 16:19-31)

One was rich and lived lavishly. He found no place for God in his heart or life.

In contrast, the other man (Lazarus) was poor and diseased.

God saw his heart as open to salvation.

Both men died.

The first experienced Hell's torment.

Lazarus was carried by angels into Abraham’s arms.

Desperate for help the rich man begged for water.

"And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me an

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.--Matthew 5:8-9, Berean Study Bible

The LORD our God is the living Word (John 1), and all right thoughts and words come from Him.

Since I was 10 or so, writing stories, and letters and more has come easily to me. It is one of my strongest gifts. However, years ago when I served as a supervisor over several other people, I  found one letter very hard

The Book Of Proverbs: God's wisdom For Righteous Living

Proverbs 29:16

When the wicked thrive, so does sin, but the righteous will see their downfall.

We need to understand that there is a season for everything. We have good times, and we have bad times, but in every season, we must praise The Lord and thank him for His Grace and Mercy.

When there are times of trouble, our praise should be lifted up to the one who can save us and give us peace in our hearts, becau

Sometimes, it's difficult to have faith. Our journey as followers of Christ can sometimes be tumultuous. It can sometimes be difficult and even dangerous for us to stand out and declare what we believe. Much like Christ, the early apostles walked difficult journeys. Sometimes having to ask for and receive the impossible to survive.

Even today, if you are a Christian there will be parts of your journey that are impossible to walk alone. Where nothing truly makes any sense, we struggle to stay afl

Daily Devotional: Love Never Ends

by PamFord Davis

 Valentine’s Day came on Monday.

 It ended at midnight.

 Love never ends.

“If I speak human or angelic languages
but do not have love,
I am a sounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophecy
and understand all mysteries
and all knowledge,
and if I have all faith
so that I can move mountains
but do not have love, I am nothing.
And if I donate all my goods to feed the poor,
and if I give my body in order to boast
but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is
