Breaking down Clemson’s come-from-behind 35-31 win over Alabama in Monday’s national championship game at Raymond James Stadium:

ALMOST EVERYONE IS HAPPY AND EMOTIONAL OVER CLEMSON’S WIN

THE BIG PICTURE: Clemson was the better team — on both sides of the ball. Alabama running back Bo Scarbrough sure is going to miss the Georgia Dome.

Four weeks after his two-touchdown performance here in a win over Florida in the Southeastern Conference championship game, Scarbrough and the No. 1 Crimson Tide returned to the soon-to-be demolished dome on Saturday and defeated No. 4 Washington, 24-7, in the Peach Bowl, one of the College Football Playoff semifinals.

With the win, Alabama (14-0) advanced to the national title game on Jan. 9 in Tampa, Fla., where it

When last year’s national championship game ended, Ben Boulware, Clemson’s vicious linebacker, sat in the locker room and sobbed.

“Cried like a baby,” Boulware said. “And it still hurts.”

On Saturday, Boulware and his team marched from that same locker room at University of Phoenix Stadium, took the field against a favored Ohio State team, and won a shot at redemption.

For four quarters of the College Football Playoff semifinal at the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl, Clemson annihilated the Buckeyes

Do you remember how fun and exciting last year’s College Football Playoff National Championship was to watch?

Alabama and Clemson spent 60 minutes trading hits, big plays and the lead. The fourth quarter alone featured 40 points and five touchdowns, and when the dust settled, it was Alabama claiming another national title with a 45-40 win.

Well, here’s to hoping the sequel is as good as the original, because we’re getting a rematch.

Alabama running back Derrick Henry won the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night, capping a junior campaign that saw him rush for an SEC-record 1,986 yards on 339 carries and score a conference record-tying 23 touchdowns.

Henry is the first running back to claim the Heisman since 2009, when Crimson Tide running back Mark Ingram became the

Jimbo Fisher blamed himself and the football staff for the awkward moment on Saturday night when suspended star Jameis Winston arrived on the field in full uniform ahead of No. 1 Florida State’s clash with Clemson.

“That was a miscommunication between us and the locker room,” Fisher said in a news conference Monday.

Jameis Winston will sit out of the game against Clemson this week.

The Heisman Trophy winner stood atop a table and bellowed words that can’t be repeated here. Google them if you must. Winston stood before the Florida State student body, many of whom were more than happy to live tweet the events for those of us not present, and shouted a tired, vulgar internet meme.

For this, he gets a game suspension.

Winston had two jobs this fall: Play football and don’t do anything stu

Now, if you are interested in hearing what he said that caused him to be suspended from what is probably his most important game, you can do so by clicking here. (Warning: Extremely graphic language! Click at your own risk.)
