Jesus, A Man Of Prayer

The news about Him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. (Luke 5:15-16)

Jesus kept His priorities straight. He never let the demands upon His powers to heal, crowd out His need for prayer. I suppose His disciples thought that He was being extremely selfish in this matter. While Jesus was off praying, multitudes were suffering. Apparently, Jesus had this tremendous nee

When did your life begin? Was it at the moment of your first breath after birth? Or was it earlier while in your mother's womb. I think we would have to agree that it really began before birth. Not only was our heart beating, but we were able to hear the voice of our mother.

For Jesus, life began long before He became a living being inside the womb of His mother, Mary. John tells us that "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with Go

Hebrews 5:12-14 (NKJV)
"For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."

by  Susan Finny Daniel

We are always proud to say that we follow Jesus Christ. We show that by loving others and being concerned about their life Through our lives we try to show that we do what Jesus did and taught us. But we see at many times we simply ignore the main and most important part of being like Jesus. is, Forgiveness. Forgiveness means letting go.Forgiveness does not come easily. It comes through much hard work and perseverance.

It is easy to make excuses and blame others , and jus

Bible Reading vs. Bible Study

30349745bible_reading_man200x133.jpg?width=200First, recognize that Bible reading and Bible study are both important, but different. In order to grow, you need to read the Bible every day as part of your time with God -- your devotions or Quiet Time. During this daily time with God I recommend prayer, wide Bible reading, praise, thanksgiving, confession, and meditation -- these are ways to reach out to God with your spirit. Bible reading is one way of letting God refresh your spirit and

Overcoming Fear in Doing God's Will

Fear can be overcome. Even very fearful Christians can become brave. In my own experience of overcoming fear, I've found wisdom which I hope, dear reader, will help you to find victory in your walk with God.

The Effect of Fear on the Believer

God wants his children to do his will. However, fear can interfere with our trust in God; Men can act in disobedience, and even go completely astray because of fear. They can doubt whether they should trust God's leading. They wonder, for

Most are familiar with the scripture from Galatians 6:2,"Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For the last several years, I have undergone many emotional and trying times. Previously, I was the "burden bearer" for everyone in my family, with my friends, and with my ministry. SEEKING TRUE HUMILITY

SEEKING TRUE HUMILITY

Psalm 145:14, The Lord upholds all who fall, and raises up all who are bowed down.

The secret in serving God is to remain humble in times of great success or in failure. Being honest and admit to God from your heart that without Him you are nothing. That is true humility. When we fall we tend to think we are so bad that God cannot forgive us. That is false humility. True humility will acknowledge our successes, failures, lowliness and our complete dependence

During His earthly ministry, Jesus Christ taught His disciples, at their request, how to pray. The ALL KNOWING Lord included the following words in His teaching,
"Our Father in heaven... ,
Give us this day Our Daily Bread". Matthew 6:11.

These words are worthy of serious considerations. It is a very rich and highly profitable statement. It demonstrates the deeper love the Lord has for His people.

It is also a way to express His good thoughts towards man. Now, let us conside

I have come to the conclusion, and to be frank I am not too bothered if you do not agree with me, that the only thing we can absolutely agree on is that we are eternally disagreeable.

Whatever I say or do, or even think or believe, there are those who will jump to oppose, to argue against or to repudiate; even when they have no real basis for doing so.

Let us be absolutely honest and admit that people have acquired a tendency, a relish, a passion to tear down rather than to

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Not always an easy scripture to swallow, especially if you have gone through long trials and debilitating circumstances. The Apostle Paul in this scripture was not teaching that we should thank God for everything that happens to us, but in everything. Evil does not come from God, so we should not thank Him for it, but when evil strik

Being successful is something we all desire. Everyone, at least everyone I know, wants to succeed at what they are doing. Most of all they want to succeed in life. In the world there are several things that mark success. You can take all kinds of courses on being successful. You can watch infomercials, purchase books, read articles, listen to a motivational speaker, and the list goes on and on. In fact, the business of being successful has become an entire industry in itsel

The World Is Not Your Friend

John 15:19 (NKJV)
"If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. "

If you were like the world, vain, earthly, sensual, given to pleasure, wealth, ambition, the world would not oppose you. But because you are influenced by different principles then the world the world hates you. You are different from them therefore the world is not your friend. You are motivated by t

One phrase we are all too familiar with is" there is always tomorrow" we hear it use quite a bit. But this phrase "why put off for tomorrow what you can do today" is a better quote.

We are all guilty of procrastinating at times. But most times, procrastination is the result of laziness. We have no reason to procrastinate. In short, procrastination is a bad habit that can have eternal effects. the Bible is clear that, because the Lord ordained work for us, laziness is a sin.

Stage One Of A Lasting Relationship

One area of God's work that suffers serious attacks is marriage. The home is the target of the regular and consistent enemy of man, the Devil. He knows fully that if a marriage fails, all members of that home are his potential disciples. They can easily fall prey to his antics.

Every serious minded fellow craves a lasting home but are not aware of many things involved to achieve this. So, let us consider the first of the three stages of every marriage. Note that each stage demand's different ac

Satan is Both Powerful and Powerless

hand-to-heaven.jpg

by Gregory John Monroe

We Christians acknowledge that Satan rules the world's culture. It is his influence that is causing strife, immorality, and the devaluing of life. In 2 Corinthians 4: 4, he is even referred to as the (small "g") god of this world that blindfolds the minds of unbelievers to the light of the gospel.

He has had and exercised world dominion ever since it was turned over to him by Adam when Adam sinned. This is evident in Luke 4: 6 when Satan takes Jesus to a high mountai

WRONG NOTION 1: THE PRINCIPLES OF CHURCH GROWTH ARE DIFFERENT EVERYWHERE PRINCIPLES INVOLVE GENERAL RULES FOR EVERYONE.

Biblical principles don't change, but methods can change.
For example, Jesus healed the sick with the same principle of faith, but different methods.
It may amaze us that if Jesus wanted to ministered to 3 blind people on the 3 different occasions, he may tell the first, "Go and sin no more." Then he put his hand in the eyes of the second and command: "Be ope

What's Halloween About Anyway?

Should Christians observe Halloween? That is a question over which there has been much debate. In this article, I want to do two things: 1) state the history and nature of Halloween; 2) present a Christian perspective on Halloween.

What is Halloween? Halloween is a annual festive occasion for many children. On the eve of October 31st, many children dress up in costumes and go from house to house, knocking on the doors (often calling out, "Trick or treat!"), in order to receive
