Wellness is a popular topic these days, but what does it mean from a biblical perspective? How can we pursue wellness in a way that honors God and aligns with His will for our lives? In this blog post, we will explore some of the principles and practices that the Bible teaches about wellness, and how we can apply them to our daily lives.

First, we need to understand that wellness is not just about physical health, but also about spiritual, mental, emotional, and relational health. The Bible teaches that we are holistic beings, created in the image of God, and that every aspect of our being affects the others. For example, Proverbs 17:22 says, "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." This means that our emotional state can have an impact on our physical health, and vice versa. Therefore, we need to care for our whole selves, not just one part.

Second, we need to recognize that wellness is not an end in itself, but a means to glorify God and serve others. The Bible teaches that we are not our own, but belong to God, who bought us with a price (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). This means that our bodies are not for our own pleasure or convenience, but for God's purposes and glory. We are called to use our bodies as instruments of righteousness (Romans 6:13), and to offer them as living sacrifices to God (Romans 12:1). Therefore, we need to steward our bodies well, not for selfish reasons, but for God's sake and for the benefit of others.

Third, we need to realize that wellness is not a guarantee or a right, but a gift and a responsibility. The Bible teaches that we live in a fallen world, where sin and death have corrupted everything, including our bodies. We are subject to sickness, pain, aging, and death, and no amount of wellness practices can prevent or reverse these realities. However, the Bible also teaches that God is sovereign and gracious, and that He can heal us, sustain us, and use us in spite of our weaknesses. He can also give us peace and joy in the midst of our trials. Therefore, we need to trust God with our bodies, not demand or expect anything from Him, but thank Him for what He gives us and do what He asks us to do.

In conclusion, the Bible teaches that wellness is a holistic concept that involves caring for our whole selves in a way that honors God and serves others. It is not an end in itself, but a means to glorify God and fulfill His purposes. It is not a guarantee or a right, but a gift and a responsibility. By following these biblical principles and practices, we can pursue wellness in a way that pleases God and blesses

Antioxidants are all the rage today. And, justifiably so. Antioxidants help neutralize free radicals which cause cell damage, which ultimately can lead to diseases of the heart and cancer. It seems everywhere you go it's blueberry this and blueberry that. You have your choice of wild blueberry juice, blueberry-pomegranate juice, blueberry-cranberry juice and so on and so on.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I love blueberries. But, in our rush to embrace the latest antioxidant food craze (blueberries, cranberries, pomegranates) we’re ignoring some very high-antioxidant foods that are probably sitting ignored in our cupboards.

“What?” You ask, “What could possibly be higher in antioxidants than my beloved wild blueberry?” Well, how about the small red bean? That’s right, I said “bean.” The small red bean actually has more antioxidants per serving size than the wild blueberry. And the red kidney bean and pinto bean have more antioxidants per serving size than a serving of cultivated blueberries.

What other foods are high in antioxidants? For starters, there are artichoke hearts, blackberries, prunes, pecans, spinach, kale, russet potatoes and plums. And, no, that’s not a mistake. Russet potatoes are on the list of foods high in antioxidants.

The truth is, there are many common foods high in antioxidants and you should not just restrict yourself to one particular food source. Why? Well, have you ever heard the expression, “eat your colors?” That refers to the fact that foods are in different color “families” containing different types of antioxidants which have different benefits. For example, the yellow-orange color family of peaches and nectarines help our immune systems. The purple-red color family of foods (pomegranates, plums, berries) helps reduce inflammation. It’s important to eat foods from all color groups to reap the full benefits of antioxidants.

The good news is that you can eat healthy foods high in antioxidants (by eating them raw, cooking them, or juicing them yourself) without having to pay a high price for the “flavor of the month” antioxidant juices being peddled in the supermarkets.

So, give your blueberries some company at the dinner table. Invite some beans, spinach, potatoes and artichoke hearts and enjoy your antioxidants!

If you’re currently not eating a healthy diet, it can be difficult to start such a plan. However, healthy eating along with some exercise is very important for maintaining a good bodily function and goes a long way towards living a disease-free life. If you struggle with healthy eating, then you know that breaking unhealthy habits can be the most difficult part of the process. Therefore, if you truly want to live the best lifestyle possible, it is important to follow tips in order to start eating a more healthy diet.

A great first step when you want to start eating your way to a healthy lifestyle is to rid your home of all temptations that will distract you from following better eating habits. Ideally it would be a wise course to keep junk foods and beverages out of your house so as not be tempted to snack during the day. If you’re worried about getting hungry, keep healthy snacks like carrot sticks, yogurt, fresh fruit, or whole-wheat crackers on hand. If you find that you just cannot bear to toss out the sweets, try keeping something tiny on hand, peppermints or barley sugar. Eating a few, (emphasis on few) of these won’t ruin your diet but also will give you that little sugary fix you rave.

Another great step to healthy eating, when you’re first starting the process, is to take a few moments to learn what foods are the healthiest for you and how they work within the body. To start eating healthily we must begin by thinking healthily. Most people understand that fruits, vegetables, and low-fat meats and dairy products are good for you, but few people understand why. The key is learning about nutrients. When you understand how specific nutrients work and why you need them, it becomes more reasonable for you to make healthier choices for your body. Knowledge really is power!

Preparation is a major key in commencing a new healthy diet. You must take into consideration your schedule for meals. If you often eat in a rushed hurry at odd times of day, you are probably more inclined to grab a rushed meal which will probably do more harm than good. So plan ahead! Instead of grabbing a fast food lunch on the go, take a bagged lunch to work, complete with a healthy wrap and some fresh fruit and vegetables. Remember not to forget your evening meal, a simple plan to have a meal ready before you get home would be perfect, but in our fast paced lifestyle, sometimes this just can’t be done. One way to solve this problem is to plan out your evening meals for the week, on your days off. Perhaps just before you do your weekly shopping. Another warning: when going to the shops, do not venture there hungry because if you're anything like me, one or two chocolate bars won’t hurt! That becomes the first break in your healthy eating.

Initially many will find it very difficult to make those necessary changes to healthier eating. Along with the difficulty of change, you may not feel well for a short period of time. Usually this is normal as your body is adjusting to your new and improved life style and is cleansing itself from the unhealthy toxins built up from poor eating habits. However if this feeling continues or you are worried a visit to your doctor would be the correct thing to do.

Start with baby steps. Even if you only replace one soda a day with a glass of water, you are really improving your calorie intake. If you eat fast food every day for lunch, try replacing that half of the time with better quality foods. When you start by taking small steps you aren’t cutting out all of the foods you love all at once. By taking your time to learn about your eating habits and slowly replacing them with better meals, by taking the time to learn and understand why you should be doing that and making the necessary changes in an orderly fashion, you will feel much better within yourself physically, mentally and emotionally and well on the road to becoming as healthy as you can be.

Eating is an essential part of life. We cannot sustain life for long without eating, so it is important that we take the time to learn how to eat well in order to have the best life possible. Our views of eating and the eating practices we adopt will affect our lives and our health in significant ways in the months and years ahead. Eating well can literally change everything.

Eating can be both a blessing and a curse. Many people struggle with eating because they cannot keep it in balance. They end up eating too little or too much and do not live healthy lives because of it. We all know the dangers of eating too little. Probably everyone has at least one friend that struggles with an eating disorder of some kind. That friend just cannot seem to get a grip on their eating patterns and they are unhealthy because of it. They think about or talk about food almost constantly.

Other people struggle with eating too much. Eating more food than we need to live is something that the majority of people, at least in the West, struggle with. Eating is associated with most kinds of social activities and events and therefore people learn to eat for reasons other than to satisfy hunger or prolong their health. Eating becomes a way to experience pleasure or to numb the pains of life.

The bottom line is that whether people struggle with eating too little or with indulging on food too much, they are not using food in ways that are healthy and life-promoting. Eating, while it is definitely meant to bring people pleasure and satisfaction, is primarily to be a means of sustaining a healthy life. Our problems begin anytime eating is neglected or indulged in beyond what is necessary.

Take a look at your eating patterns. You may be surprised to see that you have established unhealthy eating habits over the years. Perhaps your schedule for each day is centered around when you can have meals or a snack. If so, there is a high chance that food has become a bit too high of a priority. Anytime that your thoughts are consumed with food, whether with restraining yourself from it or with consuming more of it, you are thinking of eating and of food in unhealthy ways.

Giving eating a rightful place in our lives without allowing it to become consuming is the key. Make an effort to keep your perspective about eating balanced and healthy. Your life will be better and longer because of it.

Let These Tips Help Youhttps://www.theoraclemag.com/profiles/blogs/having-a-hard-time-dropping-weight-let-these-tips-help-you2016-09-11T07:00:00.000Z2016-09-11T07:00:00.000ZPrince Malachi The Firsthttps://www.theoraclemag.com/members/Malachi

If you are like everyone else, then you have probably struggled with weight loss in some point in your life. Whether it is because of poor diet, lack of exercise or emotional instability, it is impertinent. Weight loss is manageable, but you have to be dedicated to the cause. This article will set you on that path.

It is important that you get enough sleep when you are trying to lose weight. Not getting enough sleep every night will decrease your energy throughout the day. When you don’t have enough energy, you body will want to make up for it by making you hungry. Getting enough sleep each night will help you continue your weight loss plan successfully.

Don’t compare yourself to others, everybody is different. It stands to reason that everybody will lose weight differently. The key is in finding your triggers. Keep your goal in sight, and do whatever you have to do to meet that goal. When you start looking at someone else’s habits, you are only going to become discouraged and quit.

If you are searching for a quality snack to munch on when you have sugar cravings, try berries.Strawberries, blueberries and blackberries, are outstanding fruits to have, as they contain a rich level of antioxidants to restore proper body function. They also contain very little fat and calories, aiding your weight loss program.

In order to help yourself stay focused on your weight loss goals, try setting weekly and monthly short-term goals as well as your final long term goal. This will keep you from getting frustrated and instead help you focus on the progress that you have been making all along.

To assist in staying motivated, consider stepping on that scale on a daily basis. In general, weighing yourself once a week is a good way to measure your weight-loss progress. However, a recent study has suggested that people who weigh themselves daily tend to be more successful at staying on track with their weight-loss plan.

Eat the whole fruit as a great alternative to drinking only the fruit juice. Fresh is always better, especially when it comes to fruit. Fresh fruits are filled with nutrients and vitamins that are lost or decreased in the juicing process, so if you want the most nutritious option, fresh fruit is a great juice replacement that is just as refreshing.

When you are beginning a healthy diet, be sure to look at all of your options. Try to find recipes for new, healthy food to eat. If you eat the same things over and over, you will get tired of them.

You Are What You Eat: What You Need To Know About Nutrition

With rising health concerns and an increased popular focus on the important role of eating a healthy diet, it can be hard to know which pieces of advice to follow. Never fear, though, this article compiles some of the most useful tips all in one place, to help you get started on the right path to good nutrition.

To naturally detoxify your body, look for foods that are high in soluble fiber. When your body digests soluble fiber, it turns it to water, which makes it ideal for detoxification. Foods rich in this nutrient include carrots, apples, and green peas. These foods also provide your body with essential nutrients, making them a great way to boost your overall health.

Cut back on the amount of ground meat that you use in recipes and increase the amount of mushrooms. Studies have shown that mushrooms satisfy people in much the same way as meat, probably due to the texture. Mushrooms are healthy, full of fiber, and may possibly have nutrients that fight against cancer.

People with diabetes have very challenging nutritional needs. These can be addressed by eating regularly because it keeps the blood sugar level within range. They need to eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain products and dairy products with limited fat in them. They need to be sure to eat at the same time every day.

Eat nuts as a healthy snack food. Nuts are not just good for you, they also help you feel full. There are many different flavors of nuts out there. You can even try soaking them in water for a different texture. Just be sure you don’t have a nut allergy before snacking.

Eat more fiber to optimize your health! Fiber is primarily found in plant material. Raw fruits, vegetables, seeds, and grains all add valuable fiber to your diet. Some fibers are water soluble but others types are insoluble. Both types are critical dietary components and help us with everything from maintaining regular bowel movements to reducing our risks for heart disease.

Baking a cake? Put down that sugar! There are so many other options that you can use that will make your cake just as tasty. You can substitute half of the necessary sugar with applesauce or carrot juice. This also adds the extra benefit of getting extra fruit and vegetables in your diet. If the cake doesn’t taste right to your liking the first time, experiment with adding other sweet fruits you enjoy or adjust the sugar to fruit ratio to your liking.

Most people think that high blood pressure is an integral part of getting older. But actually it is not 100 % true. Let me ask you: do you know that if the blood pressure becomes lower it reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke in half or even more. Besides, it is known that many people with high blood pressure still feel great. But actually high blood pressure is bad for your arteries. Under extra pressure, the plaque may rupture. On the other hand, if you have problems with kidneys, the latter may produce too many hormones that may tighten the blood vessels, constricting the arteries, and, as the result, increasing the pressure. The constriction of the blood vessels may also increase due to the stress.

So if you are looking for heart remedy in order to reduce the pressure, firstly look through these tips. As you know, most of us consume more calories from fat. In order to lower the high blood pressure and get your cholesterol down, you will need to reduce the consumption of fats down to 10 percent of calories. This can be performed quite easily: all you need is to check the labels on the products. On most of them the fat content is mostly shown. The next step is to increase the physical activity. Even half an hour of activity a day will do much. However, it shouldn’t be too active: ride an exercise bicycle, just walk, work in the garden, or mow the lawn. This will also help you to reduce your weight as the overweight is the common reason for high blood pressure.

The next step will be to increase the disease-fighting antioxidants in your system. The thing is that free radicals block your body’s production of nitric oxide and prostacyclin. This is not good as they help to relax blood vessels to help keep high blood pressure down. In order to get lacking antioxidants you will need to follow the diet consisting vitamins C and E and beta-carotene. To the latter belong broccoli, carrots, and sweet potatoes. On the other hand it is rather important to eat fresh fruit and vegetables, particularly bananas and potatoes as they are rich in potassium that is so important for blood pressure.

The idea of fasting is still tied to the spiritual and religious practices. When many people first hear about fasting, they immediately relate the term to the Catholics who practice this during Lent or to Muslims during Ramadan. In ancient times when people fasted they believed that doing so would improve their clarity of thought, and bring spiritual enlightenment and inspiration. In fact fasting is one module of wellness and healing that has mental, spiritual, and physical benefits.

Many people do not fully comprehend the amazing benefit of fasting for health and wellness.

Although many have tried fasting but not everyone understands its concept and benefits, this series will take a look at fasting its importance and benefits for wellness and health, and specifically weight-loss.

As you read on, you will find a lot of information on the topic. Part 1 however just lays the foundation of why we need to fast. This helps us to understand the reasoning behind fasting for total wellness…spiritual, mental, and physical.

Take note however that results will vary with each person as each and every one of us response differently. Two people can be subjected to the same conditions and their reactions can be quite different.

“In my opinion, the greatest discovery by modern man is the power to rejuvenate himself physically, mentally, and spiritually with Rational Fasting.” The Miracle of Fasting by Paul Bragg, ND, PhD

The Body

The body is a physical structure of a living thing. It is made up of cells, tissues, organs and systems that work hand in hand. They form a complex system of relationship that the absence of one greatly cripples the entire body. The loss of an eye makes it hard for our other systems to grasp the events happening around and must rely to the remaining senses.

Our body is one wonderful machine, a wonder of science. The complexity of it and how it is able to perform so many things at a time often leads it to being called the “wonder machine”.

Consider that we frequently defy the laws set by the Creator, which we call natural laws, when failing to care for our body. And when our body seems to be slowing down, many simply revive it with caffeine or some similar stimulant time and again.

Many people eat like there is no tomorrow of the body’s remarkable ability to handle such a burden and keep ticking. The body will simply digest, absorb and excrete what we eat. Many drink and smoke because the body continues to function around the clock.

Yet do we also know that too much abuse of the body is also bad. Our body is just like any machine…in that once it reaches its limit, it breaks down. Too much alcohol, unhealthy food and lifestyle combined with stress is extremely harmful to our body. As we age, the maximum capacity of our body will only reach its peak once and will decrease over time. Because of the decrease, our body becomes prone to different ailments and sickness, we become weak over time and if we don’t heed the pleas of our aging body, it can actually cost us our lives.

It must be remembered that our body should be handled with care.

Stress and the human body

What is stress? It is said that stress is a condition that almost everyone can relate in an everyday sense. Stress is not new and we are no stranger to stress. Almost everything and every where there is stress, there is stress in the workplace, at home at school etc. However once stress reaches a level wherein it has a negative effect on the body it is more accurately defined as “distress”.

How people react to stress differs. Stress is caused by different factors and different people react diffrently. Our personality and emotions, not to mention or spirituality, will determine how much the effect of stress on our body will be. Some people handle stress well. These people are able to meet up with deadlines calmly and still give positive results.

Nevertheless the physical effects of stress on our body can be very to both damaging our emotional and physical health. While the effects are subtle, the long term effects of stress are deadly. It has become a mainstream reality to accept the fact that stress shortens our lives. Increased risk of heart disease, nervous breakdowns, stomach ulcers, tension headaches, and an increased susceptibility to infection are just a few of the things that stress can do to us. No single effect of stress is beneficial to us.

Although stress in the short run can have positive effects such as the ability to react to the situation quickly and resolve it as immediately as possible, it is never good in the long run.

Stress affects our health, body and mind to such great extent that we are crippled by its effects over time. Some of the signs of stress include short-temper, anxiety, impatience, low moral, temperature changes, blood pressure increase, and migraines and so on. Yet there are times when the stress is not so intense and that person has a higher threshold, the stress condition may actually be of beneficial results that will end shortly with complete relaxation.

Most often that not, insomnia and depression are the most common effects of stress on us. Because of the two, our mental and physical state is affected. Likewise, our eating habits are often affected which leads to low energy levels and thus making us unproductive.

Fasting…has your lifestyle laid a toxic foundation?

It is often emphasized that a healthy lifestyle is always the ideal, one especially today that health care costs are out of control.

With the fast paced life, we depend on processed food and fast foods. We have bombarded ourselves with medicines and drugs and this with less exercise.

Part 1">

Can you imagine eating pigs? When I was a child, every week I would go with my mother to the butcher shop and drool over all that meat. The owner would routinely give me a raw wiener to keep me happy while my mother ordered her usual order of jack cheese, round steak, a whole salami (I used to like to eat the white skin too), a huge chunk of bologna, blood sausage, pork chops, pork roast, bacon, ham, and more.

I used to eat pounds pork and especially loved my mother’s ham and potato salad. I would fry the salami until it was a crisp black and the kitchen would be filled with smoke. I knew nothing of the word carcinogenic.

Since I was raised Catholic, I was never taught that God had given dietary laws to the Israelites to keep them healthy, and to prevent the diseases that plagued meat eater’s, like the Egyptians. The Bible says: “Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth. … And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.” Leviticus 11:2, 7, 8.

Some of you might think the Old Testament dietary laws are null and void today, because we are living in the New Testament era. But let me assure you that nothing changed in the anatomy of the pig at the cross, when Jesus died for our sins, that I am aware of. As if a dead pig’s flesh and body parts suddenly became health food. The “other white meat” is as unclean today as it was 2000 years ago. Pork, swine, pig, or hog was never intended to enter the mouths of God’s people or to grace their tables. And please don’t quote 1 Timothy 4:1-4, because swine’s flesh is not sanctified by the word of God. So praying over your pig before eating it will not protect you from the cholesterol, the toxins, and the parasites (trichina worms). You are eating second-hand filth!

Why did God forbid His people from eating the “unclean” animals like swine? I believe the main reason was for sanitary purposes. These creatures are scavengers and feed on the waste and filth of the earth, whether in the waters or on the land. Take the pig for instance. The animal is truly a scavenger and it will eat just about anything-from garbage to rattlesnakes. I have read that the pig doesn’t sweat and tends to be frequently infested with the trichina worm. The trichina worm has the ability, science has discovered, to cross the blood-brain barrier. If it does and gets in your brain, the symptoms can be similar to that of a brain tumor. Misdiagnoses of a brain tumor rather than a trichina parasite have been reported. One of my own employees was having headaches and a brain scan taken at U.C. Davis Medical Center. The scan which was done to rule out a tumor actually revealed two worms in her brain. Yuck! Now think for a minute-have you ever been told to cook pork well? For what reason? The answer is to kill the trichina worms. Well, who wants to eat dead ones?

Years ago in an issue of Health and Life, there appeared an article by T. C. Desmond-chairman of the Trichinosis Commission of New York. The article was entitled, “One in Six is Infected with Deadly Pork Parasite.” In the article Desmond stated, “One out of twenty-five pork products purchased over the retail counter was found by the Pig Commission to contain parasites. It has been estimated that our present hog crop may provide us with 60,000,000 trichinae-infested meals.

Another article stated: “The worms enter the human digestive tract as tiny, almost invisible cysts which digest and release the worms, so that they burrow through the walls of the stomach or duodenum to the bloodstream. The result is symptoms similar to food poisoning if the number of parasites is sufficient. Later may come rheumatic-like heart pain because of worms settling temporarily in the heart. Inflammation in the cardiac region may follow. In some cases the brain or nervous system may be disturbed. as though worms had invaded the brain or nerves, which possibly they do. Even invasions of the muscles may be fatal if the worms are numerous enough.” Illinois Health Messenger.
A friend of mine who worked at a meat packing plant once told me that he would get infections in his finger followed by a red line was running up his arm just from handling bacon and ham. He also said, “On one occasion, hams were turning green and I was ordered to smoke them and package them for sale back East.” He continued, “Another time the bacon was outdated and I was told to repackage the bacon and stamp a new date on the package and resell it.” How gross and deceptive! Is it any wonder why the Lord said, “And the swine, … he is unclean to you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.” (Lev. 11:7,8).

If you carefully examine the front foot of the pig, you will find a small abrasion. If you then press the pig’s leg just above the abrasion, you will squeeze out a teaspoon of filthy matter. Some have called it “pork gravy.” It is actually an outlet or drain for the dirty filth of which the pig’s lymph system is filled. If you then carefully examine this filthy scrofulous serum, you will find that it contains many diseases, bacteria and viruses. Pickled pig’s feet anyone?

God commanded us not to eat, or even touch, the dead animal, because pigs are high in fat, cholesterol, deadly diseases, and trichina worms! Yet me touch the bologna, salami, pepperoni, and sausage every time you eat it. Even with all the bad publicity about pork and the health dangers of eating the pig, the devil smiles as Americans feast on their dead bodies from head to toe. The pigs head is turned into head cheese (ears and tails inserted), his stomach is transformed into tripe, his intestines are used for sausage covers, his heart, liver, and kidneys are eaten, and his feet are pickled. Even his bristles are used in brushes and his skin for wallets and purses. In the end, men and women “squeal and grunt” from the pain caused from their perverted appetites and for eating what God said not to!

No wonder there is an end-time prophecy given by the prophet Isaiah in regards to the coming of the Lord that warns: “For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many. They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination [sea creatures that do not have fins and scales like crabs, shrimp, oysters, lobsters and shark–scavengers of the sea], … shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.” Isa. 66:16, 17. I wouldn’t want to be eating a pork hot dog when the Lord comes. In fact, would someone pass me a bottle of Paratox please!

Furthermore, in Good Medicine, Vol. XVII, No. 3, it says: “In late 2007, the verdict came in. The American Institute for Cancer Research and the World Cancer Research Fund released the most comprehensive review ever compiled on nutrition and cancer risk. Many foods are linked to cancer, the report confirmed. But it reserved some of its strongest language for them link between processed meats, like hot dogs and bacon, and colorectal cancer. The evidence was deemed ‘convincing,’ and no amount was considered safe. … This included ham, bacon, pastrami, and salami, as well as hot dogs and sausages to which nitrites and nitrates have been added.”

Now we are waiting and watching to see if the swine flu, which has infected more Americans (over 3,000) than Mexicans, will become a pandemic. There is also concern that it may mutate and become more deadly, since, at present, very few have died from H1N1. Now the president says we should not call it Swine Flu, but H1N1. I am sure all the publicity has hurt the pork business and we don’t want to do that, right?

There are many theories circulating on how H1N1 originated. I have commented on a couple, but today I want to propose another highly plausible theory; that people may be getting swine’s flu from eating, touching, or breathing the air from the waste at hog farms. Could the virus be transmittal through the ingestion pathway? The authorities “assure” that it can’t. It reminds me of when mad cow disease was exposed in Britain and the news reported: “You cannot get mad cow from eating cows and burgers; there is nothing to worry about.” Well, that proved to be false, as we all have learned. Bacteria and viruses like listeria, salmonella, campylobacter, and tuberculosis are transmittal diseases. I remember the headlines of the local paper years ago: “Cow AIDS no threat to humans.” Would you eat a hamburger made from the dead parts of a cow that had Aids? Well, who is checking the pigs to see if they have H1N1 before you bite into that disgusting piece of bacon? Remember, Satan wants to ”steal, and to kill, and to destroy” you!” John 10:10.

Years ago I read a prophetic statement written in 1905 that said: “Those who use flesh foods little know what they are eating. Often if they could see the animals when living and know the quality of the meat they eat, they would turn from it with loathing. People are continually eating flesh that is filled with tuberculosis and cancerous germs. Tuberculosis, cancer, and other fatal diseases are thus communicated [transmitted and spread from animal to humans.” Counsels on Diet and Foods, 388.

Do you remember the Fishteria outbreak that happening years ago when tons of fish were dying in Lake Erie? That same year, I was flying to a speaking appointment in another state and happened to sit down next to a man who was a federal inspector for the government. He was returning from his investigation of the crisis and shared the story with me. He told me that they traced the problem to the waste run-off from hog farms in the area. The toxic pig waste from the farms was running into Lake Erie and poisoning and killing the fish. If pigs blood is toxic, what about their poop! Yes, it can kill even highly diluted in Lake Erie.

If you want to juice while pregnant, ask your doctor about the fruit, vegetables, and other spices and additives you use to ensure they’re all healthy for your baby, too. For example, there are some herbs that are often found in teas which can lead to spontaneous abortion! Double check to make sure that what you ingest is okay.

Getting into juicing can not only make you healthier, but can be a fun way to create delicious and nutritious drinks for you and your family. If you can get yourself a juicer, you can reap the benefits of a healthier way to drink juice. Plus, you’ll know it wasn’t made in a factory somewhere. Unless you have a juicer in a factory you work at!

If you want to juice leafy green vegetables, roll them together in a ball before placing them in the juicer chute. Follow with vegetables that are more firm. You should alternate between the leafy and firm vegetables if you are making a large quantity.

Prune juice is a great way to lose weight or add as a laxative. If you need to lose weight, or need a laxative, prune juice is great. If the juice is too thick it can be diluted with water or watermelon juice. The quinic and benzoic acids in the prunes are what make it such a great laxative.

The best time to fire up your juicer is a half hour before any meal. Drink the fresh juice on an empty stomach. Drinking juice on an empty stomach is helpful to absorb the most nutrients quickly and effectively. Fruit juices should be consumed in the mornings because digestive energy is the lowest in the mornings.

Cucumber is a great vegetable to use in your juices. They are high in silica, this is a mineral that is good for tendons, ligaments, cartilage, muscles and bones, it also strengthens connective tissue. It is important, though, that you keep the skin, because that is where the majority of the nutrients are.

Eating pork produces scrofula, leprosy, & cancer. CD 393. Do you know what scrofula is? It is sometimes referred to as “The King’s Disease or the King’s Evil”. Scrofula is a form of tuberculosis affecting the lymphnodes, especially of the neck. In old times Kings would get this disease in the lymph nodes because they were eating lots of pork! You know the picture–a whole pig with an apple in his mouth. Did God ever give humans permission to eat pigs?

In Genesis we are told that God made man in His own image and likeness (Gen. 1:26) and immediately gave man the following dietary guidelines: “And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat [or food].” (Gen. 1:29).
Man’s first diet did not include any animal products or dairy products, but only plant foods like fruits, seeds, nuts, and grains from the garden. After man sinned, he was driven out of the Garden of Eden and the herb of the field (vegetables containing chlorophyll minerals, antioxidants, & phytochemicals) were added to his diet (see Gen.3:18).

In Genesis 9:2, 3, since “every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground” because of the great flood (see Gen 7:23), God made a provision and gave man permission to eat “every moving thing that liveth … even as the green herb have I given you all things. But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.” (Gen. 9:3).God, as noted by the language, added flesh to man’s diet after the flood, just as He added vegetables after the fall. However, the provision gave man only permission to eat “clean” animals, and never their fat or blood. Leviticus 11 lists the specific “clean” animals God allowed for food and the “unclean” animals he forbade man to eat, most of which are scavengers.

In Leviticus 11:2 God told Moses to “speak unto the children of Israel, saying, these are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth. … And the swine, … he is unclean unto you.” Here the Lord prohibited man to eat swine’s flesh–things like pork chops, ham, bacon, pepperoni, salami, and Jimmie Dean Pure Pork Sausage, fish that did not have fins and scales like craps, lobsters, shrimp, and oysters, and a number of other creatures such as birds of prey, etc. Why did God forbid His people to eat these “unclean” animals?

Pigs Are Unsanitary For Consumption

I believe the main reason was for sanitary or hygienic reasons. These creatures are scavengers and feed on the waste and filth of the earth, whether in the waters or on the land. Take the pig, a vacuum cleaner of the earth, for instance. The animal is truly a scavenger and it will eat just about anything–from garbage to dead rattlesnakes; from mud to feces. I have read that the pig doesn’t sweat and tends to be frequently infested with the trichina worm. The trichina worm has the ability, science has discovered, to cross the blood-brain barrier. If it does and gets into your brain, the symptoms can be similar to that of a brain tumor. Misdiagnoses of a brain tumor rather than a trichina parasite have been reported. One of my own employees was having headaches and had a brain scan taken at U.C. Davis Medical Center. The scan which was done to rule out a tumor actually revealed two worms in her brain. Yuck! Now think for a minute–have you ever been told to cook pork well? For what reason? The answer is to kill the trichina worms. Well, who wants to eat dead ones?

Full Of Parasites

Years ago in an issue of Health and Life, there appeared an article by T. C. Desmond–chairman of the Trichinosis Commission of New York. The article was entitled, “One in Six is Infected with Deadly Pork Parasite.” In the article Desmond stated, “One out of twenty-five pork products purchased over the retail counter was found by the commission to contain parasites. The symptom is similar to food poisoning if the number of parasites is sufficient.

Dangerous For Health

A friend of mine who worked at a meat packing plant once told me that he would get infections in his finger followed by a red line was running up his arm just from handling bacon and ham. He also said, “On one occasion, hams were turning green and I was ordered to smoke them and package them for sale back East.” He continued, “Another time the bacon was outdated and I was told to repackage the bacon and stamp a new date on the package and resell it.” How gross and deceptive! Is it any wonder why the Lord said, “And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud, he is unclean to you.
That opening is the outlet of a sewer. If you then carefully examine this filthy scrofulous serum, you will find that it contains many diseases, bacteria and viruses. What must be the condition of the body of an animal so foul as to require a regular system of drainage to convey away its teeming filth? John Harvey Kellogg said: “Sometimes the outlet gets closed by the accumulation of external filth. Then the ichorous stream ceases to flow, and the animal quickly sickens and dies unless the owner cleanses the parts, and so opens anew the feculent fountain, and allows the festering poison to escape.” Pickled pig’s feet anyone?

God Warned Not To Eat The Pig
God commanded us not to eat, or even touch, the dead animal, because pigs are high in fat, cholesterol, deadly diseases, and trichina worms! John Harvey Kellogg gives another warning about eating lard: “Just under the foul and putrid skin we find a mass of fat from two to six inches in thickness, covering a large portion of the body. Now what is this? Lard, says one; animal oil; an excellent thing for consumptives; a very necessary kind of food in cold weather. Lard, animal oil, very truly; and, we will add a synonym for disease, scrofula, torpid liver. Where did all that fat come from, or how happened it to be so heaped up around that poor hog? Surely it is not natural; for fat is only deposited in large quantities for the purpose of keeping the body warm in winter. This fat is much more than is necessary for such a purpose, and is much greater in amount than ever exists upon the animal in a state of nature. It is evidently the result of disease. So gross have been the habits of the animal, so great has been the foulness of its body, that its excretory organs–its liver, lungs, kidneys, skin, and intestines–have been entirely unable to carry away the impurities which the animal has been all its life accumulating.” The pig is one big fat animal.

Why Are The Warnings Ignored?

Yet, even with all the bad publicity about pork and the health dangers of eating the pig, the devil smiles as Americans feast on their dead bodies from head to toe.

In the January 22, 1996 issue of U.S. News and World Report, the popular news weekly had an interesting article entitled, “Hog heaven and hell–Pig farming has gone high tech.” The article said, “Last June 21, after heavy rains some 25 million gallons of feces and urine flushed from the buildings where pigs were confined…The reddish-brown tide, more than twice the volume of oil spilled by the Exxon Valdez, poured knee-deep for two hours across the highway between Whaley’s re-brick bungalow and the First Church of God….The stinking slumgaullion drained into the New River where it killed virtually all aquatic life in the 17-mile stretch between Richlands and Jacksonville and left a stench for several days. … Wastes from big pig farms also threaten well water and surface water with parasites, bacteria, and viruses. These include salmonella, streptococcus, giardia, listeria, along with avian botulism and cholera.” Would you like ham, bacon, or sausage with your eggs? This is the same reason fish were dying in Lake Erie years ago which authorities called “Fishteria.” In fact, it so happened that I was seated next to a Federal Inspector who just got back from inspecting the lake and shared his findings with me.
God made scavengers of the sea just as He made pigs and birds of prey to be the scavengers of the land. I remember at one of our cooking schools while I was addressing the subject of unclean meats, a man seated in the back row started waving his hand. After calling on him, he anxiously shared the following story. He told us how he used to catch crabs for a living and that his greatest catch was early in the morning right in the docks where the boats were kept. He soon realized the reason for the quantity of crabs in this location was because the boats were dumping their toilets filled with human waste into the water and the crabs were enjoying the feast!

Biblical Health Principles Very Accurate

No wonder the Lord refers to fish without fins and scales as “abominations“. I refer to crabs, shrimp, and lobsters as the cockroaches of the sea and shrimp as little garbage-gulpers that swim approximately

six inches from the surface of the ocean to feed on the scum and waste that floats to the top. Certain shellfish, if caught and eaten during the months that end in “R” (September, October, etc.), can kill you. I can safely say the 21-Shrimp Special at Red Lobster for $7.99 is NO BARGAIN, and you can be certain I avoid Long John Silvers like the plague. Some people say they actually serve fish with their grease. One writer referred to shellfish as insects of the ocean. “After all, he said, “They have way too many legs.”
Then there are the other little creatures that God has told us not to eat. As far as snails, I don’t think I really even need to comment. We cringe whenever we crush them under our shoe or see them in the garden, but somehow they become a delicacy when these little snot balls are sautéed in wine and butter. All of these foods are high in fat and cholesterol and can contribute to arteriosclerosis.

Editor’s note: It’s always good to stay hydrated, but it’s absolutely essential in the hot weather, where you can become thirsty without even realizing it. Here, from the experts at Go4Life, a division of the National Institute on Aging, offer background information, as well as some tips, to help you make sure you’re drinking enough healthy liquids:

Water helps you digest your food, absorb nutrients, and then get rid of the unused waste. But as we age, some people may lose their sense of thirst. To further complicate matters, some medicines might make it even more important to have plenty of fluids.

Drinking enough fluids every day also is essential if you exercise regularly. Check with your doctor, however, if you’ve been told to limit how much you drink.

Here are some strategies for staying hydrated:

Try to add liquids throughout the day.

Take sips from a glass of water, milk, or juice between bites during meals.

Have a cup of low-fat soup as an afternoon snack.

Drink a full glass of water if you need to take a pill.

Have a glass of water before you exercise or go outside to garden or walk, especially on a hot day.

Remember, water is a good way to add fluids to your daily routine without adding calories.

Drink fat-free or low-fat milk, or other drinks without added sugars.

If you came here looking for advice on how you can benefit from the power of juicing, then you have come to the right spot. This article is packed full of great ideas and suggestions, as well as information on how juicing at home can benefit you and your health.

If you are juicing for nutrition instead of weight loss, consider adding a source of healthy fat with the vegetables for a hearty juice. Some great raw fat options are coconut butter, cream, avocado and flax seeds. Also consider consuming all or most of the pulp for a filling and satisfying snack.

If you don’t feel you’re getting an adequate amount of a vitamin in your diet, don’t bother buying a supplement! Instead, buy a juicer and do your research to find out which fruit and vegetable are rich in that vitamin. For example, if you’re low in calcium you should juice dark green vegetables like kale.

When storing the juice you’ve made, make sure the container is opaque. Sunlight and even indoor light, can cause the nutrients in the juice to convert or break down, so having it in an air-tight container that permits very little light to enter will ensure peak freshness when you drink it.

When concocting juices intended for children, it is a good idea to keep in mind that children will more eagerly consume the juice if it is in the form of a smoothie. They will also generally enjoy juices that taste sweeter. One fantastic mixture that many children will love is a strawberry and apple smoothie.

It is is better to use vegetables when you are juicing than fruits. Although the juices from a fruit are easier to ingest and go down easier, they also contain more sugar than vegetables do. Also, fruits are able to better cleanse than body when they are eaten in whole form.

One of the great advantages to drinking natural juiced drinks daily is that it helps cure a variety of different ailments. For example, cabbage juice helps heal different types of ulcers. For this, it is necessary to consult a medical professional first.

To get the best out of your juicer and to guarantee the tastiest juice, be sure to buy the freshest produce available. Always use the vegetables or fruit within three to four days to get the best flavor. Also, make sure to clean the produce thoroughly.

Looking for a quick and healthy meal on-the-go? NBA Star Ray Allen and his wife opened a healthy fast food restaurant in Miami and it might just be the healthiest fast food place in America.

The scene: While playing for the Boston Celtics, one of NBA star Ray Allen’s children was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. His wife Shannon began cooking healthy, natural meals at home, but being an overscheduled modern mother, shuttling five kids to soccer games and events, she quickly became frustrated with the lack of non-processed options available out on the road. In 2008, after consulting with experts from Harvard’s Business School and School of Public Health, she developed a business plan to open a healthy fast food restaurant with a drive-thru. Eight years later and after a trade to the Miami Heat, the Allens opened Grown two months ago, and the response has been overwhelming.

“I was cooking for a professional athlete for 20 years, and had a lot of help from expert trainers and nutritionists,” says Shannon Allen. She got her friend Tara Mardigan, longtime nutritionist for the Boston Red Sox and author of Real Fit Kitchen to consult on the menu.

Two more Florida locations are in the works, and Shannon, whose mission is to bring this kind of accessible wholesome food to fast-paced families everywhere, hopes to open more, ideally thousands more, coast to coast. She cooks, greets, serves and is in the restaurant almost daily. Ray, who retired a 10-time All Star, two-time NBA Champ and Olympic Gold Medalist, has been making sandwiches behind the counter and their kids have bussed tables at busy times. With an exceptionally friendly staff of 66, Grown has more help than almost any place its size, but is devoted to being fast — really fast — and has been slammed since opening, with lines daily out the door from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., serving more than a thousand guests a day.

“In this country if you want to eat burgers, fries, hot dogs, pizza or fried chicken, you are golden, you can get those things everywhere, without getting out of your car,” says Shannon. “But if you want wild caught salmon or drug-free natural meats without going to a fine dining restaurant, or have kids with special dietary needs, you are out of luck. It’s no judgment against fast food — I love fast food, I have five kids, I’ve driven around with the car seats, that’s why I’m doing this.

“I chose this location because it’s the busiest road in South Florida: 140,000 cars go by each day, and I always thought the busy mom would love it. My mission is making healthy, organic food easily accessible and affordable to busy people. Wholesome food can’t be a niche.”

Grown occupies a corner in one of many strip malls lining South Dixie Highway in South Miami, very close to the University of Miami campus. (They provide snacks three times a week to the school’s football team.) The Allens have converted a former Mexican eatery into an airy, high-ceilinged spot, its white tile walls covered with inspirational quotes by everyone from Oprah to Dr. Seuss, and outdoor seating can be merged with the indoor space by opening a glass paned garage door set in one wall. There is rustic wood barn board siding and flowers outside, while inside are pots of herbs, the restaurant name and logo in topiary, and a green plant tower climbing to the ceiling.

It has a warm feel, but is still unmistakably fast food, with drive-thru, order at the counter, food prepared on the other side of the glass in plain view, then served in carefully sourced recyclable and biodegradable lidded trays. The feel is more Au Bon Pain than Burger King, a slightly sophisticated take on the genre, and behind the counter is a visible fresh pressed juice station and large glass doored rotisserie where about a thousand free-range, drug free, organic chickens roast weekly.

In a few weeks Grown will hang its organic certification on the door, making it just the 10th restaurant in the entire country to achieve this status, which requires top to bottom compliance, including all farm vendors — even the ketchup and hot sauce on the counter are organic. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, in and to-go.

If you are looking for a way to make a powerful difference in how you feel and look, then look no further than juicing. Making your own juice blends at home, gives you the control over what goes into your body and how it tastes. Keep reading for tips on how you can get started.

If you are going to be juicing do some research first. Certain combinations of fruits and vegetables when mixed together in a juice are phenomenal, which can be seen with the V8 companies’ success. On the other hand, certain combinations are so bad they will make you gag, so make sure to read up on what you are mixing.

Wheat-grass has many health benefits such as cleansing the lymph system, and removing toxic metals from your cells. You can only ingest wheat-grass through juice, so juicing can be extremely beneficial. Be careful because wheat-grass does have a very strong taste. It is best to start out a little at a time. Each time you juice, just gradually add a little more.

In regards to juicing, it is important to consider the fact that while this will provide many benefits to your health and overall well being, it is not the only solution. This is critical because if you are not taking care of your body in other ways, you may diminish or eliminate the effects you are receiving from consuming your home made juices.

A good tip to help maintain your juicer is to remove the pits from various fruits. Apple pits can ruin your juice if you forget to remove them. Other fruits such as plums and peaches have pits that should be removed as well in order to protect the juicer.

Stick with fruits that have higher water contents. Fruits that have low-water content are much harder to juice; they clog up your juicer and require many more pieces of fruit to make even a small serving of juice. If you insist on using fruits such as avocados or bananas, make sure to blend them first in a blender, and then add them to your juicer with other fruits with a higher water content.

When tying to develop a juice that tastes great and has the health benefits you are looking for, consider the sugar content of the vegetables you are using. Vegetables that grow underneath the ground are higher in sugar than those that grow above ground. This is a good fact to remember when trying to adjust the sweetness of vegetable juices.

Drinking juice is one of the easiest ways to get your daily requirement of fruits and vegetables. Store bought juice can be expensive and is often made with preservatives that make it less healthy. This article has tips on how you can make your own juice from fresh fruits and vegetables.

When preparing for a juice diet, make sure to stock a LOT of fresh fruits and vegetables! On average, it takes 4.4 pounds of raw fruits and vegetables to make just a single quart of juice, so you’ll need lots. Also make sure to get a large variety of ingredients so that you don’t get bored with the same old juice.

Look for your favorite fruits and vegetables on sale to keep down your cost. A pound of produce only produces about a cup of juice so, unfortunately, taking care of your health can get expensive. Check out farmers’ markets, and shop the sales at your major grocery stores.

Juicing is a great way to drink all the nutrients you need for the day, but you also have to be conscious of the amount of sugars you’re taking in. If you’re having a drink with a lot of fruit or high-glycemic vegetables, drink less than you would if it were mostly low-glycemic items.

Instead of pulling out your juicer every time you want fresh juice, make extra and store it. In order to properly store juice you will want to put it in a opaque, airtight container and make sure that there is no extra air space in that container. Try using distilled water to make up the extra space.

Use your juicing as part of a weight loss plan to see big results. Fresh juice made from your fruits and veggies alone tends to be low in calories. It can be a very helpful addition to your weight loss plans. The fibrous nature of most veggies will help you fill up without adding in too many extra calories.

If you’re going to start a juicing diet, it may be helpful to start with a few days of eating primarily fruits and vegetables before going over to all-juice. This helps reduce dependence on sugar, flour, and other common diet staples that can make a juice diet difficult to swallow.

Personal health is something that has always been extremely important to you. You are always looking for new ways to improve yourself and live a healthier life. Use the information in this article to give yourself a good background on juicing and see if it is a good option for you.

Beware the efficiency of calorie intake from juicing! When you mash up foods like fruit and vegetables, they become much easier to digest. This means that everything they contain, from vitamins and nutrients to sugar and calories, will be taken into your body in full. Watch how many calories the items you juice contain to make sure you don’t stop your weight loss.

Ask your friends and family if they’d like to go in on purchases in bulk at local farms with you so you can buy more and get larger discounts. Apple farms, for example, will sell you bushel after bushel for decreasing costs per pound. Take a few cars up, load the back with apples, and share with everyone! They don’t have to be juicers to enjoy fresh produce.

Store all your fruits and vegetables in the refrigerator, especially in the summertime. Juicing depends on fresh produce and leaving them out starts the process of decay more quickly. Keep your produce nice and cool until you eat it so that you can preserve as many vitamins as you can.

You should try to drink your vegetable juice at room temperature. This means you should take your vegetables out of the fridge and place on the counter for a few hours before juicing. Ideally and if you can, leave your vegetables out overnight to ensure they are at room temperature.

If storing your juice, use only air tight containers to avoid the damage from oxidation. Refrigerate your juice and as a little helper, add in just a little bit of lemon juice to help keep your juice as fresh as possible. Following these steps should lead you to still have tasty, healthy juice even hours after you did the juicing.
