Like everything was going wrong and you couldn't do anything about it? Maybe you've experienced a literal power failure, when the electricity went out and you were left in the dark. Or maybe you've faced a spiritual power failure, when you felt distant from God and His promises. How do you survive these moments of powerlessness?

In this blog post, I want to share with you some insights from the Bible on how to survive a power failure. Whether it's physical or spiritual, there are some keys to receiving God's power and overcoming life's challenges.

🟣 The first key is to acknowledge your need for God. Sometimes we think we can handle everything on our own, but the truth is we can't. We need God's grace, wisdom, strength and guidance. Psalm 46:1 says, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." When we admit our weakness and dependence on Him, He becomes our source of power.

🟣 The second key is to pray and praise. Prayer is our lifeline to God, and praise is our weapon against the enemy. When we pray, we connect with God and express our needs, desires, fears and hopes. When we praise, we declare God's goodness, faithfulness, sovereignty and love. Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." When we pray and praise, we receive God's peace and power.

🟣 The third key is to trust and obey. Trusting God means believing that He is in control and that He has a good plan for our lives. Obeying God means following His commands and His leading. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." When we trust and obey God, we align ourselves with His will and His ways.

These are some of the keys to surviving a power failure. They are not easy or automatic, but they are possible and rewarding. By acknowledging our need for God, praying and praising Him, trusting and obeying Him, we can experience His power in our lives. We can survive any power failure with His help.

But let's be honest, there are days when we feel like anything but giants. We face challenges, doubts, and pressures that can leave us feeling weary.

That's where our faith comes in. In Ephesians 6:10-18, Paul uses the metaphor of a spiritual armor to remind us that we're not alone in this fight. We have God on our side, and He equips us with everything we need to stand strong.

Here's a breakdown of this armor and how it applies to our lives as Christian men:

Belt of Truth: Ground yourself in God's word. Let it be the foundation of your decisions and actions.

Breastplate of Righteousness: Live a life of integrity and purity, reflecting Christ's character.

Shoes of the Gospel of Peace: Share the message of hope and peace with those around you.

Shield of Faith: Trust in God's promises and unwavering love, even in difficult times.

Helmet of Salvation: Remember the hope of eternal life that awaits us in Christ.

Sword of the Spirit: Wield the word of God with courage and conviction.

By putting on this armor each day, we step into the strength God provides. We become better husbands, fathers, brothers, and friends. We become the men God created us to be.

Challenge: Spend some quiet time reflecting on a specific area in your life where you need to step up. Pray and ask God for the wisdom and courage to face it. Remember, you are not alone in this fight. You are a brother in arms with Christ by your side.

Be a Man of Integrity: Joseph was a righteous man who lived in accordance with God's commands. He exemplified integrity and faithfulness, teaching us the importance of aligning our actions with our values.

Embrace Your Role as a Father: Joseph played a pivotal role in Jesus' life, providing guidance, protection, and support.
Live a Life of Service: Joseph's work as a carpenter was not merely a means of earning a living but also a way of serving others. His dedication to his craft and willingness to use his skills for the benefit of others teach us the importance of living a life of service and contributing to our communities.

It can manifest in many ways, including refusing to ask for help. If you're too proud to ask God for help, your Christian life won't stand a chance.

Here are three reasons why:

Pride keeps us from admitting our need for God.
The first step in receiving God's help is admitting that we need it. But pride makes us want to appear self-sufficient. We don't want to admit that we're weak or that we can't do it on our own.

Pride makes us think we can handle everything ourselves.
Once we've admitted that we need God's help, we need to be willing to let Him help us. But pride makes us want to control everything. We want to do things our own way, even if it's not the best way.

Pride prevents us from receiving God's grace.
God's grace is a gift that we can't earn. It's something that He gives us freely, out of His love for us. But pride makes us think that we don't deserve God's grace. We think that we have to earn it by our own efforts.

If you're struggling with pride, know that you're not alone. Pride is a common sin that all Christians battle. But there is hope. We can break the cycle of pride and get into the habit of asking God for help.

Here are three things you can do:

Humble yourself before God.
The first step is to humble yourself before God. Admit that you're a sinner and that you need His help. Ask Him to forgive you for your pride and to help you to overcome it.

Trust God to help you.
Once you've humbled yourself before God, you need to trust Him to help you. Believe that He is able and willing to help you with your problems. Don't try to do things on your own. Let God help you.

Ask God for help every day.
The best way to break the cycle of pride is to get into the habit of asking God for help every day. Pray to Him about everything, big and small. And when you pray, be specific about what you need help with. Don't just say, "God, help me." Instead, say, "God, please help me to be more patient with my children." Or, "God, please help me to overcome my fear of public speaking."

Asking God for help is a sign of faith. It shows that you trust Him to help you. And when you ask God for help, He will always be there for you.

Monday Motivation Devotional: Every day is a blessing - morning motivation and inspiration to start your dayhttps://www.theoraclemag.com/profiles/blogs/monday-motivation-devotional-every-day-is-a-blessing-morning-moti2024-02-13T00:39:55.000Z2024-02-13T00:39:55.000ZPrince Malachi The Firsthttps://www.theoraclemag.com/members/Malachi

Do you wake up feeling grateful for the new day? Do you feel excited about the opportunities and possibilities that await you? Do you have a positive mindset that helps you overcome any challenges or difficulties that may come your way?

If you answered yes to these questions, congratulations! You are already living a blessed life. You are already tapping into the power of gratitude and optimism that can transform your reality. You are already enjoying the benefits of a happy and healthy lifestyle.

But if you answered no, or maybe, or sometimes, don't worry. You are not alone. Many people struggle with finding the motivation and inspiration to start their day on a high note. They may feel tired, stressed, bored, or unhappy with their current situation. They may lack the confidence, the passion, or the purpose to pursue their dreams and goals.

That's why I'm here to tell you that every day is a blessing. Every day is a gift from God, the universe, or whatever higher power you believe in. Every day is a chance to start fresh, to learn something new, to grow as a person, to make a difference in the world. Every day is an opportunity to create your own happiness and success.

How do you do that? How do you make every day a blessing? How do you find the motivation and inspiration to start your day with enthusiasm and joy?

Here are some tips that I use and that have helped me and many others:

🟣 Start your day with gratitude. Before you get out of bed, think of at least three things that you are grateful for in your life. It can be anything, big or small, such as your family, your friends, your health, your job, your home, your pets, etc. Express your appreciation for these blessings and feel the warmth and love in your heart.

🟣 Start your day with affirmations. After you get out of bed, look at yourself in the mirror and say some positive statements about yourself. These are called affirmations and they can help you boost your self-esteem, confidence, and mood. For example, you can say "I am beautiful", "I am strong", "I am capable", "I am worthy", etc. Repeat these affirmations until you believe them and feel them in your soul.

🟣 Start your day with prayer and meditation. Before you get busy with your tasks and responsibilities, take some time to sit quietly and focus on your breathing. This is called meditation and it can help you calm your mind, relax your body, and connect with your inner wisdom. You can also use this time to pray, to visualize your goals, or to listen to some soothing music.

🟣 Start your day with exercise. After you finish your prayer and meditation, get moving and do some physical activity. This can be anything that makes you sweat, such as jogging, cycling, dancing, etc. Exercise can help you improve your blood circulation, oxygen intake, muscle tone, and energy level. It can also release endorphins, which are natural chemicals that make you feel happy and motivated.

🟣 Start your day with breakfast. After you finish your exercise, nourish your body with some healthy food. This can be anything that gives you the nutrients and fuel that you need for the day, such as fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, etc. Breakfast can help you prevent hunger cravings, boost your metabolism, and improve your brain function.

These are just some of the ways that you can make every day a blessing. Of course, you can customize them according to your preferences and needs. The important thing is that you do something every morning that makes you feel good about yourself and about life.

Remember: every day is a blessing. Every day is a new beginning. Every day is an adventure.

So don't waste it. Don't take it for granted. Don't let it pass by.

Make it count. Make it meaningful. Make it yours.

And enjoy every moment of it!

Welcome to another edition of our motivational Christian devotional blog. Today, I want to talk to you about a very important topic: how to rise strong in the face of challenges and difficulties.

We all face trials and tribulations in our lives. Sometimes, we may feel like giving up, losing hope, or doubting God's plan for us. But I want to encourage you today with this powerful truth: God is with you, and He will help you overcome anything that comes your way.

The Bible says in Isaiah 40:31, "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." This verse tells us that when we put our trust in God, He will give us the strength and the courage to rise above our circumstances and soar to new heights.

How do we do that? How do we rise strong when we feel weak, discouraged, or afraid? Here are three practical steps that can help you:

Remember God's promises. God has given us many promises in His Word that can inspire us and reassure us of His love, His power, and His faithfulness. For example, He promises to never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5), to work all things together for our good (Romans 8:28), and to give us peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Whenever you face a challenge, remind yourself of these promises and claim them by faith.

Rely on God's grace. God's grace is His unmerited favor and His enabling power that helps us to do what we cannot do on our own. We don't have to rely on our own strength, wisdom, or resources to rise strong. We can rely on God's grace, which is sufficient for us and made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Whenever you feel overwhelmed, ask God for His grace and receive it by faith.

Rejoice in God's goodness. God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good. Even when we don't understand what He is doing or why He is allowing something to happen, we can trust that He has a good purpose and a good plan for us. We can also thank Him for the good things He has already done for us and the good things He will do in the future. The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." Whenever you face a problem, praise God for His goodness and thank Him for His provision.

As we begin a new year, let us reflect on the gifts of PEACE, LOVE and HOPE that God has given us through His Son, Jesus Christ.

PEACE: In a world full of turmoil, violence and uncertainty, we can find peace in the presence of God. He is our refuge and strength, our shelter and security. He calms our fears and comforts our sorrows. He promises to never leave us nor forsake us. He is the Prince of Peace, who came to reconcile us with God and with one another.

LOVE: In a world full of hatred, selfishness and indifference, we can find love in the person of God. He is our creator and redeemer, our father and friend. He loves us with an everlasting love, a love that is unconditional and sacrificial. He demonstrated His love for us by sending His Son to die for our sins and to rise again for our salvation.

HOPE: In a world full of despair, pain and death, we can find hope in the promise of God. He is our savior and king, our healer and deliverer. He gives us hope for the present and hope for the future. He has prepared a place for us in heaven, where there will be no more tears, no more sorrow, no more pain. He will come again to take us to be with Him forever.

As we start this new year, let us remember these three words: PEACE, LOVE and HOPE. They are not just words, they are realities that we can experience every day through faith in Jesus Christ. I hope you are feeling blessed and excited for the new opportunities that God has prepared for you in this year. As we start this new journey, I want to share with you some words of encouragement and inspiration from the Bible that can help you stay motivated and faithful throughout the year.

One of the verses that I love to meditate on is Philippians 4:13, which says: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." This verse reminds me that no matter what challenges or difficulties I may face, I have the power and the grace of God to overcome them. He is my source of strength, my helper, my guide, and my friend. He is always with me, and He will never leave me nor forsake me.

Another verse that gives me hope and joy is Jeremiah 29:11, which says: "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." This verse assures me that God has a good and perfect plan for my life, and that He is working all things together for my good. He knows what is best for me, and He will fulfill His promises in His time. He has a purpose and a destiny for me, and He will lead me to it.

A third verse that inspires me to live with gratitude and generosity is 2 Corinthians 9:8, which says: "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." This verse teaches me that God is the source of all blessings, and that He is able to supply all my needs according to His riches in glory. He is not stingy or limited, but abundant and generous. He wants me to enjoy His gifts and to share them with others. He wants me to be a channel of His grace and love in the world.

These are just some of the verses that I like to read and reflect on as I start a new year. They fill me with faith, hope, and love, and they motivate me to live for God's glory. I encourage you to find your own favorite verses and to memorize them, meditate on them, and apply them to your life. They will be a source of strength and guidance for you as you face the challenges and opportunities of this year.

May God bless you abundantly in this new year, and may He fill you with His peace and joy. Remember that He loves you more than you can imagine, and that He has great things in store for you. Happy New Year!

We can also discover our gifts and talents and use them for God's glory and purposes. you can serve him in your homes, churches, workplaces, communities, and wherever he calls you.

- Deborah was a woman of faith and courage. She faced a powerful enemy with confidence in God's power and presence. She encouraged others to trust God and join her in the fight. She did not let fear or doubt stop her from fulfilling God's will. you can also be women of faith and courage, knowing that God is with you and for you. You can face your challenges and trials with his strength and peace. You can inspire others to follow him and join us in his mission.

Deborah was a woman who loved God and served him faithfully. She was a blessing to her nation and a role model for us today. You can learn from her example and seek to be women who listen to God, use your gifts, and have faith and courage.

How can we live up to the standards that God has set for us in His Word? In this devotion, we will look at three things that great men do, based on James 5.

Great men are patient and persevering (James 5:7-11). James uses the examples of farmers, prophets, and Job to show us how to endure hardship and suffering with patience and faith. He reminds us that the Lord is coming soon and that He is compassionate and merciful. Great men do not give up or complain, but they trust in God's promises and timing.

Great men are honest and truthful (James 5:12). James warns us not to swear by anything, but to let our yes be yes and our no be no. He says that anything more than this comes from the evil one. Great men do not lie or deceive, but they speak the truth in love and integrity.

Great men are prayerful and powerful (James 5:13-18). James encourages us to pray in every situation, whether we are suffering, cheerful, sick, or in need of forgiveness. He says that the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. He also urges us to confess our sins to one another and pray for one another, so that we may be healed. Great men do not rely on their own strength or wisdom, but they seek God's will and power through prayer.

Brothers, let us strive to be great men who follow the example of Jesus Christ, who is the greatest man of all. He is our Lord, our Savior, our Brother, and our Friend. He is the one who gives us grace and strength to do these three things and more. Let us honor Him with our lives and glorify Him with our actions. Amen.

Brothers, I greet you in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Today, I want to share with you a word of encouragement and inspiration. You are not alone in your struggles, your challenges, or your victories. You are part of a family of faith that loves you, supports you, and prays for you. And as a man of color, you are also part of a community that celebrates your identity, your culture, and your heritage.

God has a purpose and a plan for your life. He has created you in His image and likeness, and He has endowed you with gifts and talents that are unique and valuable. He has called you to be a leader, a servant, a peacemaker, and a witness in this world. He has given you the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome any obstacle, to resist any temptation, and to fulfill any assignment.

You are not defined by your past mistakes, your present circumstances, or your future fears. You are defined by your relationship with God, who loves you unconditionally, who forgives you completely, and who guides you faithfully. You are more than a conqueror through Him who loved you. You are a son of God, a brother of Christ, and a co-heir of the kingdom.

I urge you, therefore, to live each day with confidence, with joy, and with gratitude. Do not let the enemy steal your peace, your hope, or your destiny. Do not let the world distract you, discourage you, or deceive you. Do not let yourself be complacent, cynical, or critical. Instead, let the word of God renew your mind, let the love of God fill your heart, and let the will of God direct your steps.

You have what it takes to make a difference in this generation. You have what it takes to overcome any challenge. You have what it takes to achieve any goal. You have what it takes to live a life that honors God and blesses others. You have what it takes because God is with you, God is for you, and God is in you.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.

Amen.

Hello, beautiful sisters in Christ! Welcome to another day of our women’s daily devotional. Today, we are going to talk about purpose and God’s favor for women of color.

We live in a world that often tries to tell you who you are, what you can do, and what you deserve. You face challenges, discrimination, and oppression because of our race, gender, and other factors. Sometimes, you may feel like you don’t belong, you don’t matter, or you don’t have a future.

But God has a different message for you. He says that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), that you are chosen and royal (1 Peter 2:9), and that you have a purpose and a plan for your lives (Jeremiah 29:11). He says that He loves us with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3), that He is with us always (Matthew 28:20), and that He will give us favor and grace (Psalm 5:12).

God’s favor is not based on our performance, our appearance, or our status. It is based on His goodness, His mercy, and His sovereignty. He can open doors that no one can shut, He can make a way where there seems to be no way, and He can turn your trials into triumphs. He can use you for His glory, His kingdom, and His purposes.

So how do you walk in our purpose and God’s favor? Here are some practical steps:

🟣 Seek God first. The Bible says that if you seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, all these things will be added to you (Matthew 6:33). When you put God first in your lives, He will direct your paths, reveal our gifts, and align our desires with His will.

🟣 Trust God’s timing. The Bible says that there is a time for everything under heaven (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Sometimes, you may feel impatient, frustrated, or discouraged when things don’t happen according to your expectations. But God knows the end from the beginning, and He works all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). You need to trust His timing, His ways, and His promises.

🟣 Be faithful in the small things. The Bible says that whoever is faithful in little will be faithful in much (Luke 16:10). Sometimes, you may overlook or despise the small opportunities, tasks, or assignments that God gives you. But God sees your hearts, and He rewards your faithfulness. You need to be faithful in the small things, knowing that they are preparing you for the big things.

🟣 Be grateful for what you have. The Bible says that in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Sometimes, you may focus on what you don’t have, what you want, or what others have. But God has blessed you with so much, and He wants you to be grateful for what you have. you need to cultivate a thankful attitude, knowing that it pleases God and attracts more blessings.

Sisters, you are not an accident, you are not a mistake, you are not a failure. You are a woman of purpose and God’s favor. You have a destiny and a calling that only you can fulfill. You have a Father who loves you unconditionally and a Savior who died for you sacrificially. You have a Spirit who empowers you supernaturally and a community who supports you faithfully.

Don’t let the world define you, limit you, or discourage you. Let God transform you, equip you, and use you. You are a woman of color, and you are a woman of God.

God bless you!

#MondayMotivation Devotional: Trusting God In Every Situationhttps://www.theoraclemag.com/profiles/blogs/mondaymotivation-devotional-trusting-god-in-every-situation2023-11-27T11:46:08.000Z2023-11-27T11:46:08.000ZPrince Malachi The Firsthttps://www.theoraclemag.com/members/Malachi

Hello, dear friends! Welcome to another #Motivationmonday, where we share some words of encouragement and inspiration from the Bible to start our week with joy and gratitude. Today, I want to talk to you about the importance of trusting God in every situation, especially when we face challenges and difficulties.

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." This is a wonderful promise that God gives us, that he will guide us and protect us if we put our faith in him. He knows what is best for us, even when we don't understand his ways or his timing. He is always working for our good and his glory.

Sometimes, we may feel tempted to rely on our own wisdom or strength, or to seek help from other sources that are not pleasing to God. We may think that we know better than God, or that we can handle things on our own. But this is a dangerous attitude that can lead us to sin and disappointment. We need to remember that God is the source of all wisdom and power, and that he loves us more than we can imagine. He wants us to trust him fully and follow his commands.

So, how can we trust God more in our daily lives? Here are some practical steps that we can take:

🟣 Pray. Prayer is the way we communicate with God and express our needs, desires, praises and confessions. We should pray without ceasing, as the Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17. We should pray with faith, believing that God hears us and answers us according to his will. We should also pray with humility, recognizing our dependence on God and submitting to his authority.

🟣 Read the Bible. The Bible is the word of God and the ultimate source of truth. It reveals who God is, what he has done, what he expects from us and what he promises us. We should read the Bible regularly and meditate on its teachings. We should also apply the Bible to our lives, obeying its commands and following its examples.

🟣 Seek godly counsel. Sometimes, we may need advice or guidance from other people who love God and follow his ways. We should seek godly counsel from our pastors, elders, mentors, friends or family members who can help us understand God's will and direction for our lives. We should also be careful not to listen to worldly or false counsel that contradicts God's word or leads us astray.

🟣 Trust God's character. One of the reasons why we can trust God is because of who he is. He is faithful, loving, merciful, gracious, sovereign, holy, righteous, just and good. He never changes or lies. He keeps his promises and fulfills his purposes. He is worthy of our trust and praise.

I hope this devotion has encouraged you to trust God more in every situation. Remember that he is with you always and that he has a good plan for your life. May God bless you and keep you this week!

But sometimes, it can be hard to be strong. Sometimes, we feel like we are not good enough. Sometimes, we feel like we are not worthy of the calling that God has placed on our lives.

But today, I want to remind you that you are strong. You are courageous. You are worthy. You are called to be a man of God, and He will equip you with everything you need to fulfill that calling.

So today, I encourage you to stand up tall and be the man that God has called you to be. Be strong in your faith. Be courageous in your actions. Be a leader in your community. And be a blessing to those around you.

God bless you, men!

How to Start Your Week with God's Strengthhttps://www.theoraclemag.com/profiles/blogs/mondaymotivation-devotional2023-10-30T10:27:43.000Z2023-10-30T10:27:43.000ZPrince Malachi The Firsthttps://www.theoraclemag.com/members/Malachi

Hello, brothers in Christ! Welcome to another #motivationMonday, where we share some insights and tips on how to live out our faith in our daily lives. Today, I want to talk to you about how to start your week with God's strength.

We all know that Mondays can be tough. We have to face the challenges and pressures of work, school, family, and other responsibilities. We may feel tired, stressed, or overwhelmed. We may wonder how we can handle everything that comes our way.

But we don't have to face Mondays alone. We have a powerful ally who is always with us, who loves us, and who wants to help us. His name is Yahsua (Jesus). He is the source of our strength, our joy, and our peace. He is the one who can give us the motivation and the courage to face any situation.

So how can we start our week with God's strength? Here are three simple steps that you can do every Monday morning:

Pray. Before you do anything else, spend some time talking to God. Thank Him for the gift of a new day and a new week. Ask Him to guide you, protect you, and bless you. Tell Him your needs, your worries, and your hopes. Invite Him to be with you throughout the day and the week. Listen to His voice and His promises.

Read. Open your Bible and read a passage that inspires you or challenges you. You can follow a reading plan, or just pick a verse that speaks to your heart. Meditate on what God is saying to you through His word. Apply it to your life and your situation. Memorize it and repeat it throughout the day.

Share. Don't keep God's strength to yourself. Share it with others who may need it. Encourage a friend, a coworker, or a family member with a word of hope or a prayer. Be a witness of God's love and power in your words and actions. Let others see that you have something different, something better, something that comes from God.

These are three simple steps that can make a big difference in your week. By praying, reading, and sharing, you are connecting with God and receiving His strength. You are not relying on your own abilities, but on His grace. You are not facing the week alone, but with Him by your side.

So don't let Mondays get you down. Start your week with God's strength and see what He can do in you and through you. He has great plans for you and He will help you accomplish them.

Have a blessed week!

Welcome to another #MondayMotivation Christian devotional. Today, I want to share with you a powerful message that has changed my life and can change yours too. It is this: Let God lead you and everything will fall into place.

You see, many times we try to control everything in our lives. We worry about the future, we stress about the present, we regret the past. We think we know what is best for us and for others. We try to make things happen according to our plans and expectations. But the truth is, we don't have the full picture. We don't know what God has in store for us. We don't know what challenges and opportunities He will bring our way. We don't know what blessings and lessons He has prepared for us.

That's why we need to let go and let God. We need to trust Him with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding. We need to acknowledge Him in all our ways and He will make our paths straight. We need to surrender our will to His will and He will work all things together for our good.

When we do that, we will experience peace, joy, and freedom. We will stop worrying about things we can't control and start focusing on things we can. We will stop striving for things that don't satisfy and start enjoying the things that do. We will stop living in fear and start living in faith.

Let me tell you a personal story that illustrates this point. A few years ago, I was working in a job that I hated. I felt stuck, unhappy, and frustrated. I wanted to quit, but I didn't know what else to do. I prayed to God for guidance, but I didn't hear anything. I felt like He had forgotten me.

One day, I decided to take a leap of faith and resign from my job. I didn't have another job lined up, but I trusted that God would provide for me. I felt scared, but also excited. I felt like I was finally following God's plan for my life.

The next day, I received a phone call from an old friend who offered me a job opportunity in a different city. It was exactly what I had been looking for: a meaningful work that aligned with my passion and purpose. I accepted the offer without hesitation and moved to the new city.

It turned out to be the best decision of my life. I loved my new job, I made new friends, I grew in my faith. Everything fell into place because I let God lead me.

Friends, this is not a coincidence. This is God's grace. This is what happens when we let God lead us and everything falls into place.

So today, I want to encourage you to do the same. Let go of your worries, your fears, your doubts, your plans, your expectations. Let God take over your life and watch Him do amazing things in you and through you.

Remember: Let God lead you and everything will fall into place.

God bless you!

Welcome to another #Womenwednesday, where we share some Christian devotion to uplift and inspire you. Today, I want to talk about how God loves you just the way you are, and how you can love yourself too.

You see, sometimes we women can be too hard on ourselves. We compare ourselves to others, we feel insecure about our appearance, we doubt our abilities, we worry about what others think of us. We forget that we are fearfully and wonderfully made by our Creator, who knows every hair on our head and every thought in our heart.

But God doesn't want us to live in fear or shame. He wants us to live in joy and freedom. He wants us to embrace our uniqueness and celebrate our gifts. He wants us to see ourselves as He sees us: beautiful, beloved, and blessed.

So how can we do that? How can we love ourselves as God loves us? Here are some practical tips that I hope will help you:

- Start your day with gratitude. Thank God for giving you another day of life, for breathing His breath into you, for making you in His image. Thank Him for all the good things He has done for you, and all the good things He has planned for you.

- Speak kindly to yourself. Replace negative thoughts with positive affirmations. Say things like "I am a child of God", "I am fearfully and wonderfully made", "I am loved and accepted", "I am strong and capable", "I am beautiful and valuable". Say them out loud, write them down, repeat them until you believe them.

- Take care of yourself. Treat your body as a temple of the Holy Spirit. Eat well, drink water, exercise, rest, relax. Do things that make you happy and healthy. Pamper yourself with a nice bath, a good book, a cozy blanket, a cup of tea. You deserve it!

- Surround yourself with positive people. Seek out friends who encourage you, support you, and challenge you to grow. Avoid people who criticize you, judge you, or bring you down. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

- Serve others with love. Use your gifts and talents to bless others and glorify God. Find ways to help your family, your church, your community, your world. You have something unique to offer that no one else can. You are a light in the darkness.

- Remember God's promises. Whenever you feel discouraged or doubtful, turn to God's Word and remind yourself of His truth. He says that He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5), that He has plans to prosper you and not to harm you (Jeremiah 29:11), that He will work all things together for your good (Romans 8:28), that He will give you peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7), that He will make you more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37), that He will do immeasurably more than you can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

- Trust in His love. Above all, know that God loves you unconditionally and eternally. Nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:38-39). He loves you so much that He sent His Son to die for you (John 3:16). He loves you so much that He calls you His friend (John 15:15). He loves you so much that He rejoices over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17).

I hope this devotion has encouraged you today, my sisters in Christ. You are amazing women of God, and I am so proud of you. Remember to love yourself as God loves you, and share that love with others. Have a wonderful #Womenwednesday!

Devotional For Men: Be Humble!https://www.theoraclemag.com/profiles/blogs/devotional-for-men2023-10-16T09:39:34.000Z2023-10-16T09:39:34.000ZPrince Malachi The Firsthttps://www.theoraclemag.com/members/Malachi

Hello, brothers in Christ! I'm excited to share with you a devotion based on 1 Peter 5:5, which says: "In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, 'God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.'" (NIV)

This verse teaches us two important lessons about how to live as Christian men in a world that values pride and self-reliance.

First, we need to respect and learn from those who are older and wiser than us. They have gone through many trials and temptations, and they can help us grow in our faith and maturity.

Second, we need to humble ourselves before God and others, recognizing that we are not better than anyone else, and that we depend on God's grace and mercy every day.

Humility is not a sign of weakness, but of strength. It is not a denial of our gifts and talents, but a recognition of their source. It is not a lack of confidence, but a trust in God's power and plan. Humility is the attitude that Jesus modeled for us, when he washed his disciples' feet, when he prayed in the garden, when he died on the cross. Humility is the key to receiving God's favor and blessing.

So how can we practice humility in our daily lives? Here are some practical suggestions:

🟣 Pray regularly and ask God to show you your sins and weaknesses, and to help you overcome them.

🟣 Read the Bible and learn from the examples of humble men like Abraham, Moses, David, Paul, and others.

🟣 Listen to your elders and mentors, and seek their advice and guidance.

🟣 Serve others in your family, church, community, and workplace, without expecting anything in return.

🟣 Admit your mistakes and apologize when you hurt someone.

🟣 Forgive others who hurt you and don't hold grudges.

🟣 Don't boast about yourself or compare yourself with others.

🟣 Thank God for everything he has given you and done for you.

Brothers, let's clothe ourselves with humility today and every day. Let's follow the example of our Lord Jesus Christ, who humbled himself for our sake. Let's remember that God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. And let's ask ourselves: How can I apply this to my life? Amen!

It's Monday morning and you know what that means: time to get up and face the challenges of the week with faith and courage. But don't worry, you're not alone in this journey. God is with you every step of the way, and He has a plan for your life that is greater than anything you can imagine. So, how can you start your week with a positive attitude and a strong motivation? Here are some tips from the Bible that will help you:

🟣 Remember God's promises. The Bible is full of verses that remind us of God's love, power, and faithfulness. For example, Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." That means you have the ability to overcome any obstacle, achieve any goal, and fulfill any purpose that God has for you. So, whenever you feel discouraged or overwhelmed, just repeat this verse to yourself and trust that God will give you the strength you need.

🟣 Pray without ceasing. Prayer is not only a way to communicate with God, but also a way to align your will with His. When you pray, you acknowledge that God is in control and that He knows what is best for you. You also express your gratitude, your needs, your desires, and your concerns to Him. By doing this, you open your heart to receive His guidance, His peace, and His joy. So, make prayer a habit in your life and see how it transforms your perspective and your actions.

🟣 Seek God's wisdom. Sometimes we don't know what to do or how to handle a situation. We may feel confused, frustrated, or lost. That's when we need to ask God for wisdom. James 1:5 says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." God is the source of all wisdom and He wants to share it with us. He can give us insight, direction, and clarity that we can't find anywhere else. So, don't rely on your own understanding or on the opinions of others. Seek God's wisdom and follow His instructions.

🟣 Be thankful in all circumstances. One of the keys to having a positive outlook on life is to be grateful for what we have. Sometimes we focus on what we lack or what we want, and we forget to appreciate what we already have. But the Bible tells us to give thanks in everything, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for us (1 Thessalonians 5:18). When we thank God for His blessings, we acknowledge His goodness and His provision. We also realize how much He loves us and cares for us. So, start your day with a thankful heart and see how it changes your mood and your attitude.

🟣 Share the gospel with others. One of the best ways to motivate yourself is to motivate others. And what better way to do that than by sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with them? The gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16). It is the message that can transform lives, heal wounds, restore relationships, and bring hope. When you share the gospel with others, you not only help them find eternal life, but also experience joy and fulfillment in your own life. So, don't be ashamed or afraid to tell others about Jesus. Be bold and be faithful.

These are some of the ways you can start your week with a Christian motivation that will keep you going until Friday (and beyond). Remember that God is with you always and that He has a wonderful plan for your life. So, don't let anything stop you from pursuing His will and His glory. Have a blessed Monday!

Welcome to another motivational bible study for Monday. I hope you are all doing well and feeling blessed by God's grace. Today, I want to share with you some verses that inspire me to start the week with joy and gratitude. Let's dive in!

Psalm 118:24

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

What a wonderful reminder that every day is a gift from God, and we should celebrate it with thanksgiving. No matter what challenges or troubles we face, we can always find something to be happy about, because God is with us and for us. He has a plan and a purpose for our lives, and He will never leave us nor forsake us.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

This verse gives me so much confidence and courage to face any situation. I know that I am not alone, and that I have the power of Christ in me. He is my source of strength, wisdom, and peace. He enables me to do things that I could never do on my own. He helps me to overcome my fears, doubts, and weaknesses. He empowers me to pursue my dreams and goals, and to serve others with love.

Romans 8:28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

This verse assures me that God is in control of everything, and that He is working for my good and His glory. Even when things seem bad or hopeless, I can trust that God has a reason and a way to turn them around for good. He is not surprised or limited by anything that happens in this world. He is sovereign and faithful, and He will fulfill His promises in His perfect timing.

These are just some of the verses that motivate me to start the week with a positive attitude and a hopeful outlook. I hope they encourage you as well, and that you will meditate on them throughout the week. Remember, God loves you, and He wants you to have a great Monday and a great week ahead. May His grace and peace be with you always. Amen!

Do you wonder why others seem to have more joy, peace, and abundance than you do? If so, you might be blocking your blessings without even realizing it.

Blocking your blessings means that you are hindering God's work in your life by your own actions, attitudes, or beliefs. You are not allowing God to bless you as He desires, because you are not aligned with His will or His ways.

Some of the common ways that we block our blessings are:

- Disobedience: When we disobey God's commands or ignore His guidance, we are telling Him that we know better than He does. We are rejecting His authority and His love for us. We are also opening ourselves up to the consequences of sin, which can rob us of God's best for us.

- Unforgiveness: When we hold on to bitterness, resentment, or anger towards others, we are blocking the flow of God's grace and mercy in our lives. We are also hurting ourselves and damaging our relationships. Unforgiveness can prevent us from receiving God's forgiveness and healing.

- Fear: When we let fear dominate our thoughts and emotions, we are limiting God's power and presence in our lives. We are not trusting Him to take care of us and to provide for our needs. Fear can paralyze us from taking steps of faith and following God's plans for us.

- Pride: When we rely on our own strength, wisdom, or abilities, we are blocking God's grace and favor in our lives. We are not acknowledging our dependence on Him and our need for His help. Pride can also make us resist God's correction and instruction.

- Doubt: When we doubt God's promises, character, or goodness, we are blocking His faithfulness and provision in our lives. We are not believing that He is able to do what He says He will do. Doubt can also make us miss God's opportunities and miracles.

If you recognize any of these signs in your life, don't despair. There is hope and there is a way to unblock your blessings. The key is to repent and to surrender to God. Repent means to turn away from your sin and to turn back to God. Surrender means to give up your control and to give in to God's will.

When you repent and surrender, you are inviting God to work in your life and to bless you according to His purpose. You are opening yourself up to receive all that He has for you. You are also aligning yourself with His kingdom and His glory.

So don't block your blessings any longer. Stop doing what displeases God and start doing what pleases Him. Stop resisting God and start cooperating with Him. Stop limiting God and start trusting Him. You will be amazed at what He can do in and through you when you let Him have His way.

9 And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.--Galatians 6:9, AMPC

Almost all of us true Believers in Christ have felt discouragement; thoughts of "Why bother? What you're doing is not making any difference. You're just wasting your time and efforts," etc.

I’m sure even the LORD Jesus felt frustration, and was tempted to give up (Luke 9:41, John 14:9), but of course He did not, and overcame, and continued to do the right thing, using His gifts to preach and teach the Word and deliver and heal and restore—even to and through the cross, to pay for all the ways every other human could not overcome! Hallelujah, and THANK YOU, KING JESUS!!

Those are lies from the enemy--and proof that the opposite is happening. The LORD is using your gifts and efforts to expand His Kingdom!

He showed me this truth this morning, as I was gazing at the Word, meditating it (thinking about it, listening for His insight, speaking it): Not only does Galatians 6:9 mean that we are to do good by serving physically; giving money; sharing possessions; praying for others; attending Bible-based church; reading the Word of God daily; and worshiping Christ Jesus, but using our spiritual and natural gifts to bring glory to the LORD!

A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.--Proverbs 18:16, AMPC

Many times, we have been raised with a performance/work mentality, and have not been able to just enjoy the LORD expressing Himself through the creative and other gifts and talents He gives us.

I've had to learn to rest, and partner with the LORD to bring Him joy as He creates with me. (As one minister stated, "We're the Doers; the Holy Spirit is the Helper." Indeed, that's what the Word calls Him.

But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.--John 14:26, AMPC

Another way we can be even more effective in our efforts is to ask the LORD to reveal to us anything that's been diluting and/or polluting our gifts and talents. When the LORD reveals something--usually something we need to repent of, even behaviors and thoughts and plans that may not be wicked, but have been a hindrance to Him flowing through us as fully as He wants; like a pipe that's clogged with roots or other debris, causing the water to be restricted. He will be faithful to do so, and His gentle, loving Spirit will help us to repent and turn from those things.

So whoever cleanses himself [from what is ignoble and unclean, who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences] will [then himself] be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work.--2 Tim. 2:21, AMPC

It may take a few times to break us completely free, but He is very patient, and knows our hearts are to please Him. His mercy keeps us, praise Him!

21 But this I recall and therefore have I hope and expectation: 22 It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not.23 They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness.--Lamentations 3:21-23, AMPC

So, keep on doing good! It is so worth it, and the LORD promises to reward us. He will show us what to do, help us to do it, then reward us for using our gifts and otherwise doing good. He is so awesomely gracius to us, and He is the Promise Keeper, Hallelujah!

Behold, I am coming soon, and I shall bring My wages and rewards with Me, to repay and render to each one just what his own actions and his own work merit.---Revelation 22:12, AMPC

13 If we are faithless [do not believe and are untrue to Him], He remains true (faithful to His Word and His righteous character), for He cannot deny Himself.--2 Timothy 2:13, AMPC

As the song "Way Maker" says, "Even when we don't see it, He's working...."! Hallelujah!

Only take heed, and guard your life diligently, lest you forget the things which your eyes have seen and lest they depart from your [mind and] heart all the days of your life. Teach them to your children and your children’s children—Deut. 4:9, AMPC

And you shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you rise up.--Deut. 11:19, AMPC

The living, the living—they shall thank and praise You, as I do this day; the father shall make known to the children Your faithfulness and Your truth.--Isaiah 38:19, AMPC

My son, forget not my law or teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments;--Proverbs 3:1, AMPC

I am rejoicing that today, the LORD showed me more fruits of my righteousness, in my dear daughter, and her new love and excitement and interest and respect for the deeper things of God!

Hallelujah, glory glory glory to God! He is faithful forever!

We had gathered at my mother's to celebrate my husband, my only daughter's faithful and excellent step-father for almost 20 years.

So [it shall be] that he who invokes a blessing on himself in the land shall do so by saying, May the God of truth and fidelity [the Amen] bless me; and he who takes an oath in the land shall swear by the God of truth and faithfulness to His promises [the Amen], because the former troubles are forgotten and because they are hidden from My eyes.--Isaiah 65:16, AMPC

Today, bless His holy Name, He showed me more fruits of "my" righteousness--a harvest off good seeds I'd planted and watered in her life; lived before her the past many years. With a note of wonder and respect in her voice, she asked me if I'd listened to the preacher's sermon (where she and her husband had been a few times, and where my husband and I had visited once, and been very impressed with) on binding and loosing, and related that he had been studying the Biblical Greek to increase his understanding of the Word, and was now "more scared than before" (at what God was saying).

I was thrilled to hear her talk about the deeper things of God--a desire of my heart for almost two decades!

Great is the faithfulness of our God--from the time of leading my daughter and I to the church where she met her future husband (with whom she was best friends for 10 years, then married)--whose parents were now reinforcing what I'd lived before her, by God's Grace; the deeper things of His Spirit!

Know that the LORD appreciates every effort you have make and will make to live His Word before your children, and to otherwise teach them His ways.

God is no respecter of persons. What He's done for me, He will do for you, if you don't stop!

And Peter opened his mouth and said: Most certainly and thoroughly I now perceive and understand that God shows no partiality and is no respecter of persons,--Acts 10:34, AMPC

9 And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.--Galatians 6:9, AMPC

Keep on honoring God, trusting Him, worshiping Him, serving Him. He is worthy, and your children are absorbing more than you know!

God is faithful forever!

Just as a farmer does not expect a harvest overnight, usually, there is a time between when we plant spiritual seeds and see the precious fruit, so hold fast, and know that God is the ultimate Gardener; the diligent Husbandman Who continually works to bring forth the desired results--and is able to do much more than we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20)!

Hallelujah!

9 So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.--Galatians 6:9, NLT

God is faithful to reward our work, however we give to His Kingdom; prayer, finances, material goods, encouragement, service--He will reward it all. We are the Light in the world, and we are making a difference, no matter how it seems!

Sometimes I have been tempted to stop praying for people, especially after praying for them for years.

The devil has whispered things like, "What's the use? There is no change. Why waste your time and energy?"

However, he--the devil--is the father of lies, and can't tell the truth.

But when we pray, King Jesus prays!

Jesus our LORD is the High Priest of our confession, and when we are born again by believing in what His pure blood accomplished for us on the cross over 2,000--by cleansing us of the huge, horrid guilt of all our sins--then our prayers to the Father go through Him, and He is faithful to represent us to Jehovah!

Hallelujah!

We like to see results. We like things to be accomplished quickly.

Only the LORD knows the heart--and life experiences that have caused the good and bad--of every person, so only He knows why they react as they do.

We have to keep asking Him to help us not to judge people, but to judge Him, the LORD, forever faithful!

(There are times and seasons to life, and I've heard at least one well-respected, internationally-known preacher say the LORD told him to stop praying for a certain person. However, that is the exception.)

16 Always be joyful. 17 Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.--I Thess. 5:16, NLT

The LORD knows every circumstance of our lives, and even when we feel weak, and may not be praying fully in faith, we remember that I John 5:14-15 says that when we pray in His will, we know that He hears us, and that we have what we ask!

It doesn't say that we have to feel like we're in faith, and we can't trust feelings, anyway! It says that "when we pray in His will," and praying His Word back to Him is an excellent way of praying in His will!

Hallelujah!

We also know that Jesus takes our words in His will to Father God.

But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God, based on better promises.--Hebrews 8:6, NLT

Jesus talks to God the Father about us and our requests.

14 So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. 15 This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. 16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.--Hebrews 4;14-16, NLT

Just having the attention of the King of the universe, and being able to approach Him (through Jesus) any time, anywhere, and know that we will be received is phenomenal!

So, He is our best Friend, and, when we get weary, spending time with Him in prayer, worship, and listening to the Word, is the best way to go! Glory!

Keep on praying. Keep on serving. Keep on giving.

You are making a positive difference in this needy, dark world, evey day!

14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.--Matthew 5:14-16, NLT

Strength in weakness…..what a remarkable concept. Our God is Amazing and Divine assistance is without measure or comparison. Only God can make such a marvelous guarantee, that even in our weaknesses, because of our reliance on Him; we are strong!

Rather than relentless insistence that we strive for perfection of our own accord, which would define independence, God wants that we depend completely on Him. And this countenance will help us continue to grow in our dependent relationship with Him, as Jesus beautifully symbolized in John 15:5—

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”

God understands our weaknesses and will at times rearrange our circumstances regarding those things in which we struggle. However, during those times that He prompts us and we know it’s Him, and we argue or refuse; then we are disobeying Him.

We are afforded an example of such disobedience and the anger it provoked, through the Lord’s servant Moses in the Book of Exodus:

“Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”

11 So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord? 12 Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”

13 “But he said, “O my Lord, please send by the hand of whomever else You may send.”

14 “So the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and He said: “Is not Aaron the Levite your brother? I know that he can speak well. And look, he is also coming out to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart. 15 Now you shall speak to him and put the words in his mouth. And I will be with your mouth and with his mouth, and I will teach you what you shall do. 16 So he shall be your spokesman to the people. And he himself shall be as a mouth for you, and you shall be to him as God.” (Exodus 4:10-16)

Inasmuch as God expects us to abide in this principle and He has made us to hear His Voice; (John 10:27) we are in disobedience when He calls us to something and we fail to follow through in trust. Even Moses angered God by refusing to obey and trust His Command to speak His Message to his people. Therein, Moses admitted his weakness in speaking ability, but his true failure was in refusing to trust in God’s Grace; that he would be made able to speak eloquently to the people inasmuch as God had Commanded him this special assignment.

The Bible refers a great deal to human weakness and that His Glory is illuminated through them; rendering our own talents and abilities irrelevant. It may not always be the case as with Moses where God is Commanding us to do something uncomfortable, but we ought to pay attention and pray so we may be enabled to sense, and consequently respond to His gentle nudges.

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

“As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:36-37)

“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2Corinthians 12:9-10)

“He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.” (Isaiah 40:29)

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

“For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)

Peterson

Private Bert DeBrute, a member of Lance Corporal Carlos Ruiz’s Marine squad, was shot in the back during the Marine’s push to take the city of Fallujah, Iraq from foreign fighters. Before his evaluation, Private DeBrute requested Lance Corporal Ruiz pray for him. Almost as soon as Private DeBrute had been removed for medical treatment, the word had come back that he had injuries that left him paralyzed. Lance Corporal Ruiz recalled he had promised his subordinate that he would pray for him. However, he had no faith that Private DeBrute would recover from his paralysis. “What good were prayers without faith,” Corporal Ruiz was heard to say.

After making his statement, Lance Corporal Ruiz felt as though he had let one of his men down until he remembered what a chaplain said three weeks before: “In rough times, God has a vast majority of roles for each person to play in.”

“What is my role in all of this?” Lance Corporal Ruiz said over and over to himself. To help him work through his questions, Lance Corporal prayed as to what he could do for Private DeBrute. “Well, if I lack faith in this situation, maybe I can ask some other Marines for prayers for Private DeBrute. Before the day ended, Lance Corporal Ruiz had made 14 verbal requests for prayer asking them to pray for God’s healing to come to a member of his squad. Even in doing this, Lance Corporal Ruiz could not bring himself to ask them to pray for Private DeBrute’s full recovery.

Lance Corporal Ruiz, during his visit to private DeBrute’s post operative hospital room, presented him with a list of Marines who signed a statement indicating their intent to pray for his speedy and full recovery from his injuries. Within 9 months of his surgery, Private DeBrute wrote his squad leader and friend Lance Corporal Ruiz that there were no signs of paralysis. He also wrote that he would re-enlist for continued service in the Marine Corps and would therefore be returning to the unit as soon as he is able.

After receiving Private DeBrute’s letter notifying him of his full recovery without paralysis, Lance Corporal Ruiz concluded that any future prayer for anyone would be prayer of faith. He learned that God can indeed still produce miracles even though they may not be what humankind might not perceive of as a miracle.
