Our topic is God has a big blessing planned for you this year.
It is a new year and people are always expectant, they expect from God, they expect protection, favor, blessings and much more. They expect from people, their jobs and other areas of their lives, commitment, dedication, and loyalty. Compared to Gods’ blessings, the world standard of blessing is a cheap bogus you will always be disappointed if you expect from man rather than God. Gods’ blessings for you is true and long-lasting, unlike men. While men will bless you conditionally, God blessings you unconditionally. Man’s blessing is only for a moment while God’s blessing is forever which is why he not only gives material and physical blessings but also spiritual blessings like forgiveness, salvation, the Holy Spirit, eternal life with Jesus. These are blessings that never go away and they bring physical blessings to you. Proverbs 10 verse 22 says
the blessings from the Lord makes a person rich and he adds no sorrow to it.
A lot of Christians today who have been blessed with riches and prosperity understand that every good and perfect gift comes from God above, the father of lights (James 1:17). Gods’ receiving anything from God is a blessing but to have it come without any sorrow attached to it, is a much greater blessing. There are a lot of people who looked blessed but are miserable with everything they have. This means their blessings is not from God. God has a big blessing planned for this year not because you deserve it but because he loves you but for you to have access to this blessing you must also love God back. God blesses as an inheritance he guaranteed in Ephesians 1 verse 14 the Spirit of God guarantees that it will give us the inheritance he promised us and have purchased for us to be his own people so we can praise and glorify him.
How God blesses people.
God has a big blessing for you this year, he has plans to make you happy forever and even when you go through trials, his spiritual blessings will keep you happy and safe. God blesses people in various ways but for you to understand what he has planned for you, you need to know how God blesses people so you can use this as a guide to follow for your own blessings. God blessings people through the following ways:
Through their obedience: God blessed Abraham because of his obedience, he was first known as Abram which means the father is exalted. God later changed his name to Abraham meaning the father of many people. God’s first instruction to Abraham was to leave his father’s house to an unknown land. Unlike many people, Abraham did not ask God questions he simply obeyed him. He did not hesitate, he was very prompt just like you should be when God asks you to do something. Abraham’s obedience was also active, he did not just say yes, he actually followed with action. This means he had faith in God, faith is doing what God asks you to do without a question. Practical action demonstrates your obedience to God. Abraham’s faith was also progressive, he never stopped obeying God, he kept moving as long as God said move, Abraham moved. To receive God’s blessings, you must be obedient and carry out God’s order to the letter immediately. Blessings may not come at the time you want them just like Abraham. It took time for him and Sarah to finally have the promised child and even when they did, there was still some controversies (not of God’s doing) but in the end, their obedience yielded their big blessing for them. Obedience is obeying, being compliant to authority, it is not being perfect but an obedient person trusts God enough to do what he asks them to do. What the story of Abraham teaches you is that God blesses you when you are committed to a lifestyle of obedience. Psalm 112 verses 1 to 3 says
praise the Lord, how blessed is the one who obeys the Lord, who takes great delights in keeping his commands. His descendants will be powerful on the earth, the godly will be blessed. His house contains wealth and riches his integrity endures.
This means if you are obedient to God wealth and riches will be in your house, because you honor and obey God then your financial life will be blessed by God. Even your descendants will be blessed, Abraham’s obedience was what made him and his descendants be blessings.
