Often times, I have heard this question asked: can your worrying change anything? Can it make the sun go down, or the moon come up at night? The answer is, and will always be, No. We cannot change anything when we worry, but still we worry.. we worry for the future, we worry for our partners, we worry for our kids, we worry for our finances. But never has anything good come from worrying. “NLV Philippians 4:6-7 Do not worry. Learn to pray about everything. Give thanks to God as you ask Him for what you need. The peace of God is much greater than the human mind can understand. This peace will keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Worrying however sane it may seem, is a thing The Lord has specifically instructed we do not do
“NLV Matthew 6:25-27 I tell you this: Do not worry about your life. Do not worry about what you are going to eat and drink. Do not worry about what you are going to wear. Is not life more important than food? Is not the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds in the sky. They do not plant seeds. They do not gather grain. They do not put grain into a building to keep. Yet your Father in heaven feeds them! Are you not more important than the birds? Which of you can make himself a little taller by worrying?”
The Bible does acknowledge the fact that there will be times things will happen in our lives that will cause us anxiety , and worry but , the bible also says, the best way to handle it, is to give it to God. God cares a whole lot about us and really does want to be our rock
“NLV 1 Peter 5:7 Give all your worries to Him because He cares for you.”
Now the next question is ..how do we stop this pattern of worry? I have heard of a young man, a father, he worried so much for his family, that he found it hard to sleep at night. The worrying became more than just a problem, it became torment. For a mind such as that, that has been tormented by worry and anxiety, the only thing to do is pray, and get into the word of God. Only through reading the word, can our minds be renewed. We are changed by beholding constantly, and not just once in a while “NLV 2 Corinthians 3:18 All of us, with no covering on our faces, show the shining-greatness of the Lord as in a mirror. All the time we are being changed to look like Him, with more and more of His shining-greatness. This change is from the Lord Who is the Spirit.” In the presence of God, and in the abundance of His word in our hearts, we are made whole and we have peace.
Let us not neglect the fact that worrying can get rather intense and can have physical effects on the health, lack of sleep, stomach upset, muscle aches, a loss of strength and can leave you feeling restless or jumpy. Chronic worriers would usually feel as though there is impending doom, and because they really cannot get past the anxiety it brings, they end up forming bad habits just to feel better. Drugs , sex, alcohol. Usually it all just ends in depression. These things they do in order to cope , would definitely not last forever and the problem still remains.
Ways to worry less?
• We would worry less when we cleanse our minds of all negativity , of course with the help of The Holyspirit. For we cannot fight the battle of the mind without Him
“NLV James 4:7 So give yourselves to God. Stand against the devil and he will run away from you. “ .
It also helps to fill up your mind with happy thoughts, when we think positively we attract positivity. Watch a movie that makes you smile, go out with friends and family. Treat yourself to things that transport your mind to a happy place
“NLV Philippians 4:8 Christian brothers, keep your minds thinking about whatever is true, whatever is respected, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever can be loved, and whatever is well thought of. If there is anything good and worth giving thanks for, think about these things.”
“1 Thessalonians 5:16-19 Be full of joy all the time. Never stop praying. In everything give thanks. This is what God wants you to do because of Christ Jesus. Do not try to stop the work of the Holy Spirit.”
• Another great way to overcome worry and anxiety , is to take a time out, if you are panicked with fear concerning a thing, it will be hard to focus on anything while in that state, so the best thing to do is take a relaxing walk, listen to some calming music ,and think past the blockage in your head. Ask the Holyspirit to help you fight it. And if you cannot take a walk then put on some Annointed praise music and dance to invite the Joy and peace of the Holyspirit .
